The Prizes were presented by Mrs . Bevir , at 5 o ' clock . Bro . Rev . H . Hebb proposed hearty thanks to Mrs . Bevir for so kindly distributing the prizes , and Brother H . Bevir , in replying , said that the greatest credit was due to the Sports Committee , and especially to Mr . IT . R . Farncombe , who was entrusted with the management .

The Band of the Strand Schools was in attendance , under the direction of Bro . W . Binnie P . M .

Connaught Lodge of Freemasons , for the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , 50 guineas ; to the Andereida Lodge , for the same Institution , 25 guineas ; and to the Tyrian Lodge , for the same Institution , 25 guineas ., We congratulate the Benevolent on this acquisition to its Funds .

Some authorities do not consider the explanation of the incised circles , or cup-markings on stones , dealt with by such good antiquarians as Greenwell , Graves , and Gardner Wilkinson as satisfactory . These marks are found in

Cornwall , at Dartmoor , and in Argyllshire . They mean something , or the pains would not have been taken to cut them . This is a fine topic for Freemasonry . Marks of one size and shape , apparent on the oldest rocks of England , from one end

to the other , point to a guild or brotherhood , at any rate , says the " Cornishman . " Who were they ? Of course Freemasons' marks were left on dressed stones by mediaeval Masons .
