Bailey had been a very old friend of his and he was delighted to soe him in hig proud position ; he had no doubt this would meet the wishes and approbation of tho Companions . The vote was carried unanimously . The M . E . Z . thanked the Companions for their kindness , assuring them after all he had but eimply done his duty , and thanked them for their kind auppot t .

The Chapter was shortly afterwards oloaed , and the Companions adjourned to the banquet , whioh was served in an exoellent manner , and with the greatest credit to Comp . Tuck . Tho UBual Loyal and Royal Aroh toasts were givon , after which the health of the M . E . Z . waa proposed and met with great enthusiasm . The M . E . Z ., in returning thanks to the Compauions , reciprocated their warmest

wishes ; be felt almost overwhelmed with their continued kindness and he would still ' 1 " '> H he ecu Id for the Sir Hugh Myddelton Chapter . The toaBt the exalteo followed . Comp . Inder replied , acknowledging the kindness of the M . E . Z . and Companions for admitting him a member of the Chapter . The M . E . Z . then gave the toast of the Visitors , assuring them the Chapter delighted to have

visitors , and hoped that they had had a pleasant reception and that every attention and courtesy had been shown them by the Companions . Comp . Dehanp , a P . G . Officer of Essex , in responding , thanked the M . E . Z . and Companions for their kind welcome once more to their Chapter . He was nn old friend of the M . E . Z ., and he was extremely pleased to aee him in the chair . He had personally

assisted the M . E . Z . in making himself Master of his duties , and he was more than rewarded to hear the high praise and esteem the M . E . Z . was held in . He could not help looking back and thinking of the Companions of the North London Chapter of Improvement , when all the Principals of the Chapter used to attend and the many happy

hours spent there . Comp . T . 0 . Edmonds and Comp . Davidson also replied . Other toasts followed and were responded to . The musical arrangements , under tho direction of Comp . W . Wright , assisted by Madame Soudder , Miss Jesse McLaren , Comps . Baynes , S . Wright , and Weston Lee , were mnch appreciated .

DUKE OF FIFE CHAPTER , No . 2345 A CONVOCATION of this Chapter was holden at Anderton ' s Hotel , Fleet Street , on Saturday , 17 th June , when there were

present—Comps . J . Wyer P . Z . H . as M . E . Z ., W . W . Westley P . Z . I . P . Z . as H ., J . W . Folkard J ., Charlie Woods S . E ., J . Andrews P . Soj ., J . A . Randall A . Soj ., Robertson and Boswell ; Visitor Comp . Bond P . Z ., who aoted as S . N . in the unavoidable absence of Comp . Harvey . The M . E . Z ., Comp . Cochrane , was abaeut in Yorkshire , carrying out his duties as Grand Treasurer . The report of the B

ye-Laws Committee was received aud adopt id . The ballot was taken for and proved unanimous in favour of Bros . Boswell , M . R . C . V . S ., Munslow , Bonner , and Robertson . Bros . Boswell and Robertson being present were duly exalted . All Royal Arch Masonic business being ended the Companions adjourned , and after dinner tho usual Loyal aud Masonio toasts were duly honoured .

THE annual meeting of the Provincial Grand Lod ge ( wbich comprises the counties of Essex , Suffolk , Norfolk , and Cambridgeshire ) , was held in the Masonio Rooms , Norwich , on Wednesday , the 14 th ult ., under the

presidency of Bro . Lord Henniker Provincial Grand Master , who was supported by a goodly number of brethren . After the confirmation of the minutes of the last annual

meeting , Bro . Lord Henniker alluded to tho forthcoming marriage of the Duke of York and tho Princess May and proposed that an address of congratulation be drafted bv the Provincial Grand Secretary , aud forwarded to Her

Majesty the Q < ieen , thoir Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales , ai d the Duke of York and Princess May . The motion was seconded by Bro . N . Tracy Prov . G . S . W ., and carried unanimously .

The roll of Lodges was then called over , and it appearing that two or three were neither represented nor had sent any explanation for their absence , Bro . Railing P . G . D .

drew attention to the bye-law inflicting a fine for nonrepresentation , aud proposed that it be enforced . Bro . the Rev . H . T . Armfield Prov . G . Chap , seconded .

Lord Henniker , in putting the motion , said he quite agreed that their bye-laws should be carried out or they were of no value . The motion was carried unanimously . The report of the Board of General Purposes was read

by the Provincial Grand Secretary , and showed the Province to be in a satisfactory condition . Their funds showed a good balance in hand , and there had been 50 advancements during the year as against 18 the year

I previous . Tho Board congratulated the Province upon the additiou of a new Lodge—the George Graveley , No . 461—which had just been consecrated , aud which promised to prove a great accession to the Province . The report was adopted and ordered to be entered on tho minutes .

Bro . N . Tracy proposed the election of Bro . G . Baxter W . M . No . 92 as Provincial Graud Treasurer for the ensuing year , which was seconded by Bro . George Grave , ley W . M . 4 G 1 , aud unanimously carried .

Lord Henniker having announced , amidst much applause , that he had re-appointed Bro . Rev . C . J . Martyn as Deputy Provincial Grand Master expressed regret that owing to an important engagement he had been unable to be amongst them that day .

The Provincial Graud Officors for the year were appointed as under :

Bro . the Rev . H . T . Armfiold drew attention to the absence of several of the brethen appointed by the Provincial Grand Master to office that day , and asked whether in view of the resolution already carried as to the non-represented Lodges , if brethren who had failed to attend for investment ought not to be fined under the same bye-law .

Several brethren expressed occurence in this , and it was agreed to add a rider to the original resolution . It was also decided that some bye-law should be drafted by the Board of General Purposes which should ensure the

return of the Provincial Grand Lodge clothing and jewels . Before closing Provincial Grand Lodge , Lord Henniker addressed the brethren , congratulating them on the steady progress the Province was making .

The brethren afterwards dined together , under the presidency of Lord Henniker , everything that was possible for their comfort being done by the brethren of the Walpole Lodge .

'I'HE ceremony of installation in connection with this Chapter of J- the Order of Rose Croix was performed at the Masonic Hall , Taunton , on the 28 th ult ., when Bro . F . T . Hussey was duly installed M . W . S . of the Chapter for the ensuitg year by HIUB . Bro . F . T . Elworthy 31 ° P . M . W . S . Bro . Hussey afterwards appointed and invested the following Officers : —Bros . A . Steevens Prelate , A . E .
