THE installation meeting was held on Monday last , afc Freemasons Hall . The Lodge waa founded in 2870 for the special convenience of members of the dramatic and musical profession , and its membership is confined to those professions . Bro . James D . Beveridge ( of the Adelphi ) , the Master for fche last 12 months , and the twentieth Master of the Lodge , installed Brother Tom de Brunnow

Holmes as his successor for the new year , in the presence of a large number of professional brethren . Bro . Alfred E . Bishop was invested as Senior Warden , and Bro . W . S . Penley as Junior Warden . Ar exceptionally interesting presentation was made to the Lodge in the course of the meeting by Bro . James Weaver , a Past Master of the Lodge and the only founder left . The presentation consisted of s handsomely bound book composed of a complete set of summonses

calling the Lodge from its consecration , 7 th November 1870 , down fcr date , 3 rd November 1890 , together with the original letter from the late Grand Secretary announcing the grant of the Lodge's war / ' an by the then Grand Master , and a list of the Past Masters ant , Founders . A beautiful frontispiece , specially designed , adorned thd first pages of the book . At the banquet afc the Holborn Restaurante which followed the working of the Lodge , Bro . Beveridge was presented with a handsome Past Master ' s jewel .

ROSSLYN LODGE , No . 1543 .

rpHlS Lodge , which works as ifc were under the shadow of fche J- residence of the E . W . P . G . M . ( Lord Brooke , M . P . ) , and of whioh fche late Lord Eosslyn was Patron , held its anniversary meeting afc the Saracen ' s Head , Dunmow , on Wednesday , 29 th October , when Bro , Dan . Millbank was installed as W . M . in the room of Dr . Lyle , whose period of office has been marked by his appointment by

the Eight Worshipful Provincial Grand Master as one of fche Grand Deacons of fche year . The ceremony of installation on Wednesday was most ably performed by Bro . Alexander Rattray , a P . M . of the Eosslyn Lodge and P . P . G . A . Sec . of the Province of Essex ; and he was at fche close thereof heartily thanked for his services . In

acknowledgment , Bro . Eattray said he had felt it an honour and pleasure to have acted aa Inatalling Master , from the fact thafc ifc was during his Mastership that Bro . Millbank was admitted into Freemasonry , and he felt that in placing him in the chair to-day he was only putting a coping-stone to the work he commenced then . The

THE monthly moefcimr was -held , at the Town Hall , Shoreditch , on Wednesday , the 5 th inst . Bro . H . J . Thrower W . M . occupied the chair , and was supported by a strong gathering . There was a full paper of business , Bro ? . Dellnr , Nehm and Braine were raised , and Bro . Nnvcombe passed , the ceremonies being worked in an admirable manner . Bro . M . J . Wesson , No . 65 , was nnanimously elected a joining member . An interesting feature in the proceedings

was the presentation to Bro . L . V . Walker of the vote of condolence , inscribed on vellum and suitably framed , which the Lodge passed at its last meeting in regard to fche lamented death of Bro . E . Walker P . M . For fche first time in the history of the Lodge , the W . M w re-elected to the chair , tho S . W . having taken a voyage to Australia , and fche J . W . being already W . M . of his mother Lodge . Brother B .

Nicholson was nnanimously re-elected Treasurer , and Bro . Very Tyler of the Lodge . On the motion of Bro . J . Cox I . P . M ., a Past Master ' s jewel was unanimously voted to Bro . Thrower on the completion of hia first year of office . After the transaction of soma other business , the Lodge was closed in ancient form . The W . M . having obtained a dispensation from Graud Lodge , the banquet was attended by the

ladies of the brethren , and shortly before eight o ' clock the ladies were received by the reception committee , tbe company in all numbering upwards of ninety persons . The banquet was served in excellent style by Messrs . Hill and Son , of Bishopsgafce , under the genial presidency of the W . M ., with Mrs . Thrower on his right . After grace , " Laudi Spiritual !* " fche usual loyal toasts were honoured

and brief addresses were made . In the toast of the W . M ., Brother Thrower was warmly congratulated , alike on his thonghfcfnlneas in behalf of the ladies , and on the hononr of his re-election to the ohair . The health of the Past Masters was suitably responded to by Brother L . Stean , a grand old Mason of some 82 yeara , initiated over 60 years since . The toast of the Ladies was given iu graceful terms of wel

come and appreciation from the chair , and response waa made by Bro . J . A . Jones P . M . For the Visitors , acknowledgments were given by Bros . John Lobb , M . L . S . B ., E . Barnes , M . L . S . B ., Major Wenbom , Captain Birkett , and Geo . Edwards . Bro . Nicholson responded for the Treasurer and Secretary , and Bro . W . Beasley J . W . for tha

members being Founders of tbe new Lodge , which will be consecrated on 24 th November , it waa unaniraonaly agreed to postpone the annual supper until Monday , lat December . Nothing further offering for the good of Freemasonry , the Lodge was closed .

A Company has been formed to acquire the business of a Mechanical and General Engineer , Lathe and Tool Maker , carried on by Mr . J . H . Evans , at 159 Wardonr Street , and 17 Oxford Street , London , W . The bnsiness was established in the year 1810 , by the grandfather of the present proprietor , and has ever since been carried on successfully . The name of Evans is well-known in the

engineering world , and enjoys a high reputation in the trade , and a great and very profitable feature of the bnsiness is the manufacture and supply of every description of lathe , from the simplest to the moat elaborate , afc all prices from £ 10 to upwards of £ 2 , 000 , with every intermediate price thafc may be required . A part of the business consists of a School or Club for practical taming , whereab

instruction ia given in the whole science of turnery . The firm has secured Medals at various Exhibitions and its work haa often been favonrably spoken of in the Press . The Company will acquire the copyright of Mr . Evans'valuable work on "Ornamental Turning , " and several patent rights and other considerations .
