Lodge was closed down ancl Bro . Smith worked the first section of the second lecture the questions being put by Bro . Lotheim . Both Bros . Cohn and Smith were most efficient in their duties .

Rev . Bro . Spero 205 and Bro . G . Smith 2615 were elected members . Bro . Cowell P . M . proposed that in consideration of Bro . Latham having discharged the duties of Treasurer for three years he be elected an Honorary Member , and this suggestion having been unanimously supported was acknowledged .

Bro . Andrews was elected W . M . for the 18 th inst ., next Tuesday it being arranged that the Fifteen Sections shall be worked , as noted in another part of this issue .

New Concord Lodge , No . 813 . THE cordiality and true Masonic characteristics of the Mother " New Concord " Lodge are equally apparent in the Instruction Lodge working under its sanction , as was manifest on the occasion of our visit to its meeting last week , held at the Farleigh Hotel , Amherst Road , Stoke Newington , on Wednesday . candidate and answered the preliminary questions . Bro . Gush worked the first section of the second lecture , assisted by the Brethren . The Lodge was opened in the third degree , and closed to the second , when Bro . Powell Treasurer worked the fourth section of the lecture .

The ritual was excellently rendered throughout , and this is hardly to be wondered at when we take into consideration the well known ability of the Preceptor Bro . Gush , who certainly does everything in his power to teach the ceremonies , & c . to perfection .

Smallman . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Barton acting as the candidate , after which that Brother worked the first ancl second sections of the lecture .

Bro . Powell proposed that a letter of sincere condolence and sympathy be sent to their Preceptor Bro . Gush , who had just lost his mother , and at the same time availed himself of the opportunity of expressing the indebtedness of the members to Bro . Gush , and the hope that he might be long spared to afford the Lodge the benefit of his Preceptorship .

A vote of thanks was passed to the W . M . of the evening , congratulating him on his performance in the chair , for the first time in any Lodge . # * *

The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , the charge being given , with Bro . Witham acting as the candidate . The second ceremony was rehearsed , with the same Brother as candidate , the W . M . giving the full explanation of the working tools ancl tracing board .

We compliment Bro . Jeffries on his working and may here say we regard it as subject for regret that the Tracing Boards are not more regularly explained in our Lodges . It would be far better to go through one degree in its entirety each time of meeting than to give parts of two or three , except so far as regular opening up

and closing down is concerned . Bro . P . H . Hill was elected to preside on Tuesday next . Bro . Haylock Secretary announced that the annual supper would take place at an early date , further particulars in regard to which will be announced later on .

AT the weekly meeting on Tuesday , 4 th inst ., a large number of Brethren were present , although the weather was of the most disagreeable character ; the Lodge room at the Town Hall Tavern , Kensington , W ., was filled to its utmost capacity . The ceremony of installation was then rehearsed , Bro . Powell being placed in the chair ; the ceremony being performed by Bro . A . Williams , who gave the three addresses in a magnificent manner , this Brother being noted for his elocutionary powers . Bro . Blott then resumed his position of W . M .

Bros . Woods and Golby were unanimously elected members , and Bro . Powell chosen W . M . for the next meeting . * # * Hammersmith Lodge , No . 2090 . WE are pleased to notice the popularity of this Lodge of Instruction since its removal to the beautiful quarters at

Wycombe Hall , Hammersmith Road , ancl must thank Bro . Currie the spirited Proprietor , for the great pains he takes to make the Brethren comfortable at their weekly meetings . The electric lighting , hot water warming , and perfect ventilation of the Hall might well be copied by many Hotel Proprietors .

It was then opened to the third degree , and resumed to the first , after which the second section of the lecture was worked by the Brethren , under the Preceptor ' s direction . Bro . Wilkins was elected to preside at the next meeting .

Both the Preceptor ancl Junior Warden spoke in high terms of the way Bro . Lichenburg had gone through his work , more particularly as a few years since he was unacquainted with the English language , and a vote of thanks to him was placed on the minutes . We must not let the opportunity pass without thanking Bro . H . Warren for his kindness in looking after the creature comforts of all visiting ancl regular Brethren .
