G ., J . Wynman , T . F . Strutt W . M . 1679 , Newton , & c . The Lodge was opened in the three degrees and resumed to

the first , when the ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Page taking the place of candidate . The W . M . then changed places with the S . W ., who resumed the Lodge to the second degree , when Bro . Hill was examined and entrusted . The ceremony of raising was rehearsed .

Bro . T . Holmes P . M . was elected to preside at the next meeting and a letter was ordered to be sent to Bro . Voigt , Manager of the Hotel , thanking him for the handsome curtain he had put in front of the Lodge room , for the convenience of the Brethren . Bro . Darch informed the Brethren that the Fifteen Sections would be worked in the Lodge on Tuesday evening next .

After the closing of the Lodge a ballot was taken in connection with the Benevolent Association , with the result that Bro . P . Page became the possessor of a Life Subscribership .

Hugh Owen Lodge , No . 2593 . AN excellent meeting was held on Friday of last week , at the Frascati , Oxford Street , when we had the pleasure of seeing Bro . J . Bedford W . M . of the Duke of Connaught Lodge in the chair , assisted by Bros . W . Thomas S . W ., J . B . Schrader J . W ., Holland P . M . Preceptor , Nicholls P . M . Treas ., C . J . Ridgway S . D ., W . Spencer J . D ., A . Taylor I . G ., Hunt P . M . 2353 , J . Wynman , and several others .

Bro . Crisp was examined and entrusted , the Lodge was opened in the second degree , and the ceremony of passing was rehearsed . Bro . Hunt P . M . was examined and entrusted for the higher degree , the Lodge was further advanced , and the ceremony of raising was gone through . Both these ceremonies were perfectly and impressively rendered .

The W . M . made some very appropriate remarks with regard to the kindness they always received from Bro . Holland , their Preceptor , and also thanked the Brethren for allowing him to rehearse the two ceremonies . As Worshipful Master of the Duke of Connaught Lodge he said how delighted he should be to see the Brethren at its next meeting at Anderton's Hotel ; they could rest assured they would receive a most hearty welcome .

We tell you , Brothers , that your blue Lodge is the foundation upon which all Masonry rests , and through it your charities are done . It is the blue Lodge that builds your widow and orphan asylums , and it is the blue Lodge that
