Reports Of Meetings.

Bro . Thomas Robinson W . M . responded , and said that when he was elected Master he made up his mind to go through the chair with credit , ancl to do the work as well as jDossible . The Immediate Past Master was an example to him , and he hoped to set an example to those who were to follow . He was Bishopsgate bred and born , ancl had carried on business in Bishopsgate . When the Bishopsgate Lodge was started , wishing to be connected with everything

associated with the ward , he desired to become a Freemason , and he was therefore initiated . Shortly St . Thomas's Day would come round , and he hoped on that day to become more connected than ever with Bishopsgate . Bro . Mead responded to the toast of the Immediate Past Master . Bros . Stephen Scudamore and Dr . Alfred Allport acknowledged

the toast of the Initiates , the latter stating that there were two things he had in ins mind when he joined the Craft—one was charity , the other good fellowship . Of charity he could say nothing because his knowledge was yet to come ; but as to good fellowship he might say he had been overwhelmed with congratulations and welcomes .

After the reading and confirmation of minutes , Bros . Arthur Walter Taylor and Joseph Tilley were raised to the sublime degree of M . M ., the latter by Bro . Chas . H . Griffiths P . M . and the former by Bro . F . R . Radcliffe P . M . Secretary . An election of Officers afterwards took place , Bro . S . Andrew S . W . being unanimously chosen as Worshipful Master-elect , and Bro . Hy . B . Brown P . M . as Treasurer .

A proposition by Bro . J . H . Smith P . M . " that the sum of two guineas be paid annually for th , e use of the Lodge room , " was carried . Bro . C . D . Cheetham P . M . 993 Prov . G . Senior Warden , who was a visitor on behalf of the East Lancashire Systematic Masonic

Educational and Benevolent Institution , gave some very valuable information as to the position and work of that Institution . The usual festive board followed , Loyal and Masonic toasts being agreeably interspersed with songs , recitations , & c , contributed bv Bros . C . H . Griffiths P . M ., Dr . C . Carruthers , J . T . Moorhouse , and E . Roberts P . M . 1459 , & c .

The installation of Bro . Andrews will take place on Wednesday 19 th inst .

Ellington Lodge , No . 15 66 . INSTALLATION OF BRO . JAMES MOORE . THE annual meeting was held in the Town Hall , Maidenhead , on Wednesday evening , 28 th ult ., when , in the presence of a large gathering of the Craft , Bro . James Moore was installed as W . M . for the ensuing year .

The customary banquet followed , and the visitors included Brethren from Windsor , Reading , High Wycombe , and other Lodges . A number of toasts were honoured and an excellent programme of music was provided , under the direction of Brother Herbert Schartau P . M . P . P . G . Organist Middlesex , assisted by Bro . W . R . Maxwell .

Kirkdale Lodge , No . 175 6 . INSTALLATION OF BRO . JOHN A . GEE . THE annual installation took place on the 28 th ult ., at the Skelmersdale Masonic Hall , Kirkdale . There was a very large attendance of members and visitors .

The Worshipful Master-elect was Bro . John A . Gee , and the duties of installation were ably carried out bv Bro . John O . Ellams W . M . At the banquet which followed , the usual Loyal and Masonic

toasts were honoured , ancl Bro . John O . Ellams was presented , in recognition of his great services to the Lodge as W . M . during the past year , with a Past Master ' s jewel , Past Master's clothing and a jewel of office , and an exceedingly handsome case of table cutlery for Mrs . Ellams . # * # Albert Victor Lodge . No . 1773 .

INSTALLATION OF BRO . ALEX . H . SELLERS . rpHE annual meeting and Festival of St . John took place on JL Saturday , 17 th ult . On this occasion , by way of experiment , it was held in the Freemasons' Hall , Manchester , instead of the Town Hall , J / endleton , as previously . The meeting was very well attended .

After the reading and confiimation of minutes . Bro . Alex . H . Sellers J . W . Worshipful Master-elect was installed into the chair of K . S . by the retiring Master Bro . Wm . Woodeson , who was ably assisted bv Past Masters Thomas Threlfall P . Prov . G . P ., who presented and explained the working tools of the various degrees ; R . Duxbury P . P . G . S . B ., who invested the Officers ; W . T . Blease ; T . T . Sefton D . C . ; Wm . Mosley and T . M . Brown .

After the installation , the Brethren adjourned to the handsome dining room of the institution , where the Festival of St . John was held , Loyal and Masonic toasts being pleasantly relieved by songs , recitations , & c .

Bro . Wm . Woodeson I . P . M . proposed the health of the newlyinstalled W . M ., enumerating his good qualities , and congratulating the Brethren upon the fact that they had secured his services for twelve months .

Bro . Sellars W . M . replied , saying that from the bottom of his heart he thanked the Brethren for placing hifn in such a high position , and giving him as it were a place in the Cabinet , which he hoped to fill with credit . If any difficulty should arise , he would have the wisdom of Bro . Woodeson to fall back upon .

Bro . Sellars then proposed the health of the I . P . M . and Installing Master , ancl said he had a pleasant duty to perform , namely that of presenting to him , on behalf of the Brethren , a Past Master ' s jewel , which he hoped he would live long to wear . The jewel was inscribed as follows : —

Presented to BRO . W . WOODESON P . M ., by the Brethren of the Albert Victor Lodge , No . 1773 . Nov . 17 th 1900 . Bro . Woodeson I . P . M . thanked the Brethren for their gift

and took the opportunity of paying a very high compliment to his Officers , all of whom had given him every possible assistance . He regretted that their annual function was not graced by the presence of Bro . Samuel Statham , the grandfather of the Lodge , who was always a welcome figure at their meetings .

Other toasts followed , that to all poor ancl distressed Masons " being given by Bro . Gilbert L . Hardcastle S . W . During the evening Bros . Harry Perry P . P . G . D ., and Evan Williams P . P . G . Supt . of Works , who had attended on behalf of the East Lancashire Systematic Masonic Educational and Benevolent Institution , spoke very eloquently in advocacy of the claims of this Institution , and also explained the efforts which were being made for a special festival to be held during the forthcoming

' INSTALLATION OF BRO . ARTHUR BARBER . rr \ HE annual festival was held on Thursday evening , 22 nd ult ., - « - at the Sandon Hotel , Oakfielcl Road , Anfield , when Bro . Arthur Barber was installed in the chair . The ceremony was most impressively rendered by the W . M . Bio . Amos Studdart . After the ceremony the company adjourned to the Alexandra

Hotel , Dale Street , Liverpool , where a recherche banquet was served by Bro . Harry Heard P . M ., and after the usual Loyal toasts had been honoured a well-arranged musical treat was provided by Bros . Nelson , Jackson , A . Weber , H . D . Jay , Ben Roberts , J . Humphrey , W . A . M'Guffie , W . Chambers , John Bain , and Frank Lott Musical Director .

During the evening , Bro . Barber presented Bro . Studdart Immediate Past Master with a Past Master ' s jewel , together with the necessary clothing , as a mark of esteem ancl appreciation of the members for the admirable manner in which he had conducted the business of the Lodge during the year just closed .

METROPOLITAN : INSTRUCTION .

Confidence Lodge , No . 193 . MANY were the Brethren who assembled at the Hercules Tavern , Leadenhall Street , on Wednesday , 5 th inst ., ancl it being Officers' night the chair was occupied by Bro . Simeons , with Bros . Fells S . W ., Metcalfe Baillie J . W ., Bushell S . D ., Green J . D ., Collins I . G ., Spice Preceptor , ancl Goovearts acting Secretary .

The ceremonies of the three degrees were rehearsed , the first and second in duplicate . Bro . Simeons was in good form , and the Brethren felt sorry that his term of Office as W . M . in the Mother . Lodge was shortly to expire ; he has endeared himself to all ; tht . soft melodious accents of his voice , his sweet kind smile , the emphatic solemnity of his rendering the ritual , his Fraternal grip to all , and aimable greeting will live long in the hearts of the Conhdence Brethren , and all who attend the Lodge of Instruction .

Bro . Cohn was elected to occupy the chair next Wednesday , and we have no doubt he will be well supported .

ON Wednesday of last week the meeting was as usual a full one , Bro . Fells S . W . of the Mother Lodge occupied the chair during the first degree , and rehearsed the ceremony of initiation in a perfect and impressive manner , Bro . Done being candidate . Bro . Cohn , who it is rumoured will shortly be W . M . in his own Lodge was S . W .,

and afterwards occupied the chair and rehearsed the ceremony of passing in a faultless style , Bro . DaCosta being candidate . Bro . Carr occupied the J . W . chair with much credit , Bro . Collins as S . D . needs no instruction . Other Officers were Green J . D ., Rowland I . G ., Metcalfe Baillie acting Secretary , Spice I . P . M . Preceptor , Hattersley Steward .
