CONSTITUTIONAL LODGE , No . 294 . ON Thursday , 7 th inst ., the annual installation of Worshi pful Master took place at the Masonic Hall , Beverley . There was a large attendance of the Brethren of the Lodge , as well as from the Hull and district Lodges . Additional interest was evinced in the proceedings by reason of the presence of Bro . Lord Bolton P . G . W . Deputy Provincial Grand Master of

The Worshipful Master proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Lord Bolton , for his efficient services , which was seconded by Bro . Willis Mills , Town Clerk , who expressed the great indebtedness of the Brethren for the ready manner in which he fulfilled his promise to attend and perform the ceremonial .

Lord Bolton , in response , said he had merely done his duty in attending , and was glad that his services had met with their appreciation . Freemasonry was a luxury , not a necessity , and as he journeyed up and down the country he found that this fact was not always remembered . If a person , to enable him to pay the fees and subscriptions of the Craft , had to stint his

wife and children , then , unhesitatingly , he said the man had no right to be a Freemason ; he did not understand the genuine principles and tenets of the Order . If a man merely wanted assistance or pecuniary support in sickness and ill health , then there were the great and excellent friendly societies of the country . No mercenary or other unworthy motive should influence anyone who wished to seek the Masonic privileges and advantages . He ,

therefore , impressed upon them to keep up the high standard of Masonry ; by that a man who sought admission to the Craft was expected to be in such a position as to meet the obligations and requirements due from the Brethren . If , however , the future , through mistortune , should reduce him to poverty , then they were only too glad to hold out the hand of Brotherhood , and not only succour him in his distress , but tneir charities would relieve the necessities of his wife and educate his children .

Hearty good wishes were then expressed by the visiting Brethren , and the Lodge was closed in due form . The annual banquet was held in the evening at the Beverley Arms Hotel .

SCIENTIFIC LODGE , No . 439 . THE members celebrated the feast of St . John in the Masonic Rooms , Bingley , on the 30 th ult . The installation of Bro . Thomas Blanshard as Worshipful Master was performed by Bros . W . Greenwood P . M . and Alfred Platts P . M . After the ceremonies had been performed the usual banquet was served , and the Loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured .

LOYAL MONMOUTH LODGE , No . 457 . THE annual installation meeting was held on Tuesday , Sth inst ., at the Masonic Hall , Monmouth , when Bro . W . S . Poole was duly installed into the chair of King Solomon according to ancient custom , by Bro . Captain C . C . Powell P . M . P . P . G . S . W .
