Reports Of Meetings.

PRUDENCE LODGE , No . 1550 . THE Brethren held their annual banquet at the Freemasons' Hall , Princess Square , Plymouth , on Saturday , 2 nd inst ., when the W . M . Bro . T . W . Griffiths was supported by several prominent Brethren of Provincial rank .

On a previous occasion Bro . and Mrs . Griffiths entertained the Brethren and their lady friends to a high tea and musical and dramatic entertainment at the club , the invited guests numbering about eighty , and the gathering was one of the most enjoyable , as it was certainly one of the most successful , ever held in the history of the Lodge . The proceedings on Saturday evening were similarly interesting , and included a wedding present to the W . M .,

whose marriage took place a short time since . The usual Masonic toasts followed the dinner , and Bro . F . B . Westlake , responding for the Provincial Grand Master and Provincial Grand Lodge of Devonshire , gave some interesting information of the good work done by the Masonic Charities . Devonshire -was receiving annuities from the Benevolent Institution for nine men and eleven women , or £ 712 a year . That was the largest amount

received by any Province in England , with the exception of West Yorkshire and Kent ; yet he was afraid that Devonshire was not doing its duty in supporting that Institution , for its subscriptions scarcely ever reached £ 200 a year . The boys and girls schools were also doiag a grand work , maintaining and educating between them 537 children , of whom ten—five boys and five girls—were from Devonshire . This was a noble work , and he

trusted the Province of Devon would in future years do its full part in supporting those splendid Institutions . Then there were other Institutions nearer home—the Fortescue Annuity Fund , the Masonic Educational Fund , and the recently formed Widows' Annuity Fund—all engaged in the same Benevolent work and doing an immense amount of good , and therefore deserving the hearty support of every Mason in the Province .

Bro . Edwards S . W . next proposed the Master of the Lodge , remarking , amidst hearty cheering , that Bro . Griffiths was a Brother of whom they were all proud , and he had certainly proved himself one of thc best Masters the Lodge had ever had . They were all proud to serve under him , and ifc was such men as he who gave a tone to Freemasonry and contributed to its popularity and its prosperity .

Bro . C . Philp then made the presentation to the W . M ., premising that a more pleasing duty had not fallen to his lot since he had been a member of Lodge Prudence . The occasion was an unusual one , for it was not often in the annals of Freemasonry in Devonshire that the W . M . of a Lodge entered the bonds of matrimony during his year of office . This , however , had been the happy experience of Bro . Griffiths , and the Brethren of the

Lodge regarded it as a fitting opportunity for giving a practical expression of the esteem and regard in which they held him . A subscription was started , funds were readily forthcoming , and as a result he had now much pleasure in asking Bro . Griffiths acceptance of a set of entree dishes , which he hoped would always be a pleasant reminder to him of his connection with Prudence Lodge .

The W . M ., in responding , said his whole experience of Freemasonry had been of a most gratifying character , and he had been greatly strengthened in his love of it , and the work that it was doing by his association with the Brethren connected with his own Lodge . His desire was that in the

introduction of new members into the Lodge they should aim at quality rather than at numbers , and if that rule were generally observed he was sure that there would be nothing in Freemasonry of which any of them need be ashamed . Other toasts were given , interspersed with songs and recitations , Bro , Roseveare giving a clever and amusing ventriloquial sketch .

MARLBOROUGH LODGE , No . 1620 . THE festival of St . John was celebrated on Wednesday , 6 th inst ., at Derby Hall , Tuebrook , Liverpool , when Bro . Joseph Griffiths was installed W . M . A large number of members and visitors assembled . The Brethren afterwards sat down to a banquet , admirably purveyed by Bro . James Casey . During the evening , a Past Master ' s jewel of exquisite design and workmanship was presented to the retiring Master , together with a costly diamond half-hoop finger ring for Mrs . Richard Parry .

ALBERT VICTOR LODGE , No . 1773 . THE regular meeting was held at the Pendleton Town Hall , on Friday , 18 th ult ., Bro . Thomas M . Brown W . M ., the following among others being present : —Bros . James Clough I . P . M ., Wm . Lambert S . W ., W . T . Blease J . W ., Rev . James Preston Chap ., Thomas Kay P . M . Treas ., W . Allen Smith Sec , W . Woodison S . D ., W . Hardcastle P . M . P . P . G . D . C , E . Winterbottom P . M . P . G . D . D . C , J . Harrop P . M . P . P . G . D . D . of C , G . L . Hardcastle Org ., John Harwood I . G ., J . L . Smith P . M ., and William Mosely P . M .

The principal business of the evening was that of receiving the Treasurer's report and passing the accounts . On behalf of Bro . Townson PM ., in whose name the notice of motion stood , Bro . Brown W . M . proposed the following , whioh was carried : — " That the sum of ten guineas be transferred from the Lodge Fund to the Charity Fund ; and that that amount be contributed to the Royal Masonio Benevolent Institution for Aged Freemasons . "

Succeeding Lodge business was the Festive Board , where Loyal and Masonic toasts were duly submitted , being varied by songs .

ZION LODGE , No . 1798 . THE annual meeting and festival of St . John took place at the Grand Hotel , Manchester , on Wednesday , the 9 th ult ., Bro . Leon E . Levy W . M . The principal function of the day was that of installing Bro . Joseph Gershon S . W . into the chair of K . S ., the ceremony being performed by the retiring Master , assisted by Past Masters of the Lodge .

A list of Officers invested is appended : —Bros . Bernard Steel S . W ., Alfred Smith J . W ., Simeon Mamelok P . M . Treasurer , Mark Steel Secretary , Philip Josephs S . D ., H . Frankenstein J . D ., George Board P . M . P . P . J . G . D . D . of C , Henry Norris Org ., Henry Wollerton I . G ., L . Kaufman , M . Phillips , and Morris Jay Stewards .

The festival of St . John , which succeeded these proceedings , was marked by a prodigality of music and speeches , the latter trenching more particularly upon the domain of charity , a chord often vibrated in this Lodge , and to which we have made frequent allusions . In response to the toast of the Provincial Grand Officers Bro . Captain Clement R . N . Beswicke-Royds P . G . D . Deputy Provincial Grand Master replied , giving a very interesting account of t his own Masonic experiences
