Saturday In Shakespeare's Country.

SATURDAY IN SHAKESPEARE'S COUNTRY .

THE London and North Western Railway Company announce that the Tour whioh was inaugurated last summer under the above name , for the benefit of those who can afford to pay a reasonable price for a day ' s outing by Rail and Road including thoroughly good Hotel accommodation , will be repeated every Saturday during the coming season .

The first trip will take place on 6 th June , and the programme includes visits to the House in whioh Shakespeare was born , to the site of the House in whioh he spent fche last nineteen years of his life and in whioh he died , to his Tomb in the Church of the Holy Trinity , and to the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre , at Stratford-on Avon ; to Kenilworth and Warwick Castles ; and to Beauohamp

Chapel , which contains Leicester ' s Tomb , and the Crypt , in the St . Mary ' s Church , Warwick . The Fares , whioh are 40 s for First Class , and 27 s 6 d for Second or Third Class ( Second Class Carriages are not guaranteed ) will include every item of expense throughout fche day ( wines , & o ., excepted ); fche Company will even pay the Waiters' Fees , for it is ,

indeed , in their case that the French saying " point d ' argent point de suisse" applies . Two new features are introduced in this year ' s programme . Passengers will not be compelled to return to London the same evening ; those who , after dinner , may feel inclined to enjoy two or three days' rest in the country , will be able to do so on payment of a small amount ( 6 s First Class , and 3 s Second or Third Class ) , and

to return to Town from Kenilworth , Leamington , Warwick or Stratford-on-Avon ( East and West Junction Railway ) , by any Train up to the following Tuesday night . Hotel coupons , available afc fche best Hotels , for Breakfast , Luncheon , Dinner and Bed , separately , and also for a whole day ' s accommodation , always including Waiters ' Fees , will be sold at moderate prices at the above four Stations and at Euston Station , London .

Afc a meeting of tbe members of tbe Wellington Lodge , to consider a letter of the Earl of Onslow P . G . W . of tbe Grand Lodge of England , on the present position of Masonry in New Zealand , in connection witb tbe Grand Lodge movement , tho following resolution was carried : —

" That the letter of Bro . the Earl of Onslow be received , and that he be respectfully informed thafc while the Wellington Lodge has no present intention of severing from the Grand Lodge of England , the

brethren nevertheless fully share the regret expressed by his Excellency afc the dissensions now unfortunately existing among Freemasons in the colony , and would be glad to hear of any plan for their removal . "

The latter portion of the motion is in reference to that part of bis Excellency's letter whicb stated that bo had a plan for ending tbe trouble if the Lodges were agreeable to his formulating it .

On Saturday last , a proposition to still further increase the salary of the new Secretary of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys was carried . We do not feel justified in joining in tbe almost general shout of congratulation thafc this proposal has elicited . Bro . McLeod haa done

excellently well in the short period that has elapsed since his appointment , bufc wo know that this too premature recognition of his services does not find favour with many friends of tbe Institution , and we hear of somo whose zeal in working for the next Festival has received a disastrous check .

Bro . George Everett Grand Treasurer was , on Thursday , the 7 th instant , at the Criterion , Piccadilly , made tbe recipient oi ; a handsome testimonial . He was presented with the _ full regalia of his elevated office , together with an illuminated address . Some 200 guests were present . We shall give a report of the proceedings next week .
