mission of the Vicar of Ramsgate , Rev . H . Bar tram ) , attended divine service at St . George's Church , at 2 p . m . The brethren occupied the centre aisle , and an appropriate service was gone through , the sermon being preacbed by Bro . the Rev . G . D . Pagden .

In the evening a banquet was held at the Granville Hotel , under the presidency of Earl Amherst Provincial Grand Master . About 200 brethren were present .

BRO . W . H . POPE JUN . THE funeral of Bro . W . H . Pope jun ., which took place on the 22 nd ultimo , was largely attended by members of the St . Petrox Lodge and the Excelsior Court of the A . O . F ., with both of whioh he wai associated . A great many other persons also attended , and most of the bnsiness bonses in the town were partially closed . The deceased ,

who was the only surviving son of Captain W . H . Pope , came home from London a fortnight since for his holidays , hoping that a brief stay in his native place would greatly benefit his somewhat delicate health , bnt he suddenly became worse , and died on Friday , the 24 th nit ., leaving a widow and one child to monrn hia loss . The funeral service was read by the Rev . John Core .

BRO . W . W . BROWN

MUCH grief has been caused in Brentwood by the death , on Tuesday , 28 th nit ., of this worthy Mason . Bro . Brown , who was fifty . four years of age , was a native , and one of the most prominent townsmen , of Brentwood . KB WM a graat lover of music , and an accomplished organist and pianist , readily giving his services for local objects . As honorary accompanist for some years to the Brentwood "Vocal and Instrumental Society he contributed largely to the success of the

Society ' s concerts . For some timo he acted as honorary organist at the Brentwood Grammar Sohool Chapel . He was an ardent Mason , and in addition to being Past Provincial Grand Organist , ho was Secretary of the Lodge of Hope aud Unity , and for years undertook tho mnnageraent of the musical arrangements at tbo Lodge banquets . Tho deepest sympathy is expressed for Mrs . Brown and her three daughters in their sad bereavement .

"T ^ HE funeral of Bro . George Austin , of Luton , a native of Berk-- *¦ hamsted , took place in the Cemetery on Monday , the 20 th ult . The service in the church was choral , and conducted by the Rector . The body had been convoyed by hearse , with glass sides , from Loton , and tho coflin was covered with wreaths . Tho . deceased

was much respected , and a number of tho members of tho Borkhamsted Lodge , No . 504 , lo which he belonged , attended ; also Several townsmen , in addition to the relatives . On the coffin plate was the inscription " George Austin , died 15 th Jane 1892 , aged 43 .

The girls of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls , who had this year successfully passed the Cambridge Local Examination , were recently conceded au exceptional privilege , laken to Windsor by the liberality of some of the ¦ tlouse Committee , they were graciously accorded per . mission

to see St . George ' s Chape ! and the Royal Gardens , and to ascend the Round Tower , and concluded what was to them a memorable day wifch a lengthened steam launch trip on the Thames . The weather was lovely throug hout .
