had been selected with singularly propriety as the date for the meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge . It may be stated , simply as a matter of history , and in no degree infringing upon the tenets of this most honourable and Ancient Craft , that thc Doric Lodge , Grantham , enjoys tho
proud distinction of being one' of the oldest in the kingdom . A Lodge existed in Grantham long anterior to the date of the reconstruction of the Order , but , in the troublous events that marked the opening of the Hanoverian era , it was allowed to lapse . The Doric has , during
ita long career , been conspicuous for its zeal in the cause which has , for its fundamental principle , the unassailable doctrine of unremitting and unostentatious charity ; and it
