NOTICES OF MEETINGS .

Eoyal York Lodge of Perseverance , No . 7 . —This Lodge , one of the oldest on the roll of Grand Lodge of England , held its regular meeting on Tuesday , the 6 th instant , at Freemasons ' Hall , Great Queen-streot W . C . Bro . Geo . Johnston presided , and was supported by his officers . Amongst tho P . M . ' s present were Bros . John Hervey G . Sec , F . Adlard , Mansfield , R . E . K . Wilkinson , & c .

After the confirmation of the minutes , the election of Worshipful Master for the ensuing year took place , and resulted in the unanimous appointment of Bro . Sewell S . W . Bro . P . M . Adlard was re-elected ( for the tweuty-first time ) to the office of Treasurer , and Bro . Gilbert ¦ was re-appointed Tyler .

Metropolitan . Chapter of Improvement . —This Chapter met as usual on Tuesday last , at the Jamaica Coffee-house , Coruhill , but the attendance was meagre in the extreme . We regret this exceedingly , more particularly when we find officers at their regular chapter meetings incapable of performing their duties . The chapter was opened under tho guidance of Comps . Dr . Bedolf e Z ,, J . Constable

H ., P . Wagner J ., Major Finning N ., E . S . Norris Assistant Scribe E ., T . Griffiths P . M . 907 P . S . The M . E . Z . rehearsed the ceremony of exaltation , Comp . Medwin acting as candidate . This completed the business of the meeting . Companion Boyd was unavoidably absent , consequently clauses were not worked . There were preseut the following members : —Bros . G . K . Lemann , Geo . J . Row , John Seex . The Chapter meets every Tuesday at 6 . 30 p . m .

St . Paul's Lodge , No . 43 , Warwickshire . —The regular meeting of tho above was held on the 27 th ult ., at Masonic Hall , New-street , Birmingham . Bro . John Moore I . P . M ., in the absence of the W . M ., occupied the chair . He waa supported by Bros . M . Rotchild S . W ., Smeaur J . W ., Solomons Sec , Spiers as S . D ., Liebless as J . D ., M . Davis as I . G ., and P . M . ' s Blankensee P . P . G . S . D ., and M . Joseph . The Lodge was opened , aud the minutes were

confirmed . One brother was passed to the 2 nd degree . A letter was received from the W . M ., regretting his absence , owing to illness in his family . The Lodge was then closed . A . very capital banquet followed . The acting W . M . gave the usual toasts , both Loyal and Masonic , Bros . Blankensee , Rotchild , aud Dr ' . West contributing some excellent harmony . The visitors were Broi . Dr . West P . M . and S . M . Harris , No . 406 .

Prosperity Lodge of Instruction , No . 65 . —Held its meeting at Bro . Maidwell ' s , Hercules Tavern , Leadenhall-street , on Tuesday , 5 th December . The officers were Bros . Parker W . M ., Sayer S . W ., Daniel J . W ., Maidwell S . D ., Holtham I . G . ; Hollands , Ellis , & c . The Lodge was opened in due f orm , [ the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . Bro . Parker , a young

Mason , worked the ceremony of initiation , for the first time , exceed , ingly well , and a vote of thanks was recorded on the minutes to that effect . Bro . Hollands rehearsed the 2 nd and 3 rd degrees . Bro . Sayer was elected W . M . for the ensuing week . In the absence of the Preceptor , Bro . Ellis acted in that capacity , and a profitable and instructive evening was spent .

Lodge union and Crown , No . 103 . —The installation meeting was held on 27 th November , at 130 Hope-street , Glasgow . Bro . A . Bain P . M ., after transacting the usual business , which included a special vote of thanks to the Secretary and Treasurer , for the excellent style of their book keeping , proceeded to instal the Officers , iu that quiet but impressive manner that distinguishes all

hia working . David Murray R . W . M . ( re-elected ) , Andrew Muir Wright I . P . M ., Eobert Munroe D . M ., John MoFarlane S . M ., William Thomas S . W . ( re-elected ) , Wm . Forsyth ( re-elected ) , Neil Cameron Treasurer ( re-elected ) , James Gilles P . M ., Sec ( re-elected ) , A . Gray S . D ., G . Patterson J . D ., Eev . J . C . Stewart , Chaplain ( re-elected ) , Peter Cullen B . B ., P . Cameron , J . C . Eobinson P . G . S ., John Derry

S . S ., T . Arthur J . S ., J . G . Allen M ., Jas . Gray I . G ., and Wm . Mc Allynch Tyler . After the E . W . M . had returned thanks for the ¦ confidence reposed in him ; he again urged on the brethren the ^ necessity of each one feeling a direct interest in the welfare of the Lodge , to see that only good men were brought into the Order , that to keep up the dignity of the Lodge the annual fees should be raised ,

by this means they would be enabled to display that charity which should be their distinguishing characteristic . Charity in its double form characterises brotherly love as well as relief , and on this point he would call their attention to the case of their old Tyler . They had elected a new one—but ho hoped they would not forget to render the last days of their old servant comfortable . On a motion ,

it was afterwards agreed to petition the Benevolent Fund on Bro . Boyd ' s behalf , and in addition the Lodge voted him 6 s per week for the remainder of his days . The Lodgo then went to refreshment , and was ably presided over . Bros . McKie P . M ., Kavau , Forsyth , Thomas , Banks , Murray , Gilles and others , contributed to the harmony . Bro . Nevil , of Star 219 , responded on behalf of tho visitors , of whom

there were twenty present . In replying to the toast of " Prosperity to the Lodge , " tho E . W . M . said , Founded as they were in 1766 , they had seen times of depression as well as prosperity , indeed , at one time it was for several years dormant , but for the last fifteen years its course had been uniformly upward , this he attributed to the good

work of his predecessors in office , and now they were honoured by having two of their P . M . 's P . G . Officers , ono of thorn holding the onerous post of P . G . Treasurer . Bro . J . Gilles responded to the toast of the P . G . L . Bro . Thomas and Forsyth for the office bearers of the Lodge . The final toast sent all home well pleased with the time spent at the Union aud Crown ,

A very large number of the brethren were present . Marquis of Granby Lodge , No . 124 . —This Lodge held its monthly meeting on Tuesday , the 5 th of December , at the Masonio Hall , Old Elvet , Durham . Present—Bros . George Johnston W . John the Evangelist , Propositions for two gentlemen to join the Order were then handed in , and the Lodge closed in due form .

Lodge of Good Fellowship , No . 176 . —At the monthly meeting of the members of this Lodge , on the evening of Thursday , the 30 th ult ., Bro . E . Robbins was unanimously elected W . M . for the year ensuing ; and Bro . F . Whitmore P . M . was also unanimously re-elected Treasurer . Other Lodge business was transacted , and the brethren afterwards passed a pleasant evening . On the following day an application was made to the magistrates for the use of the

Graud Jury . room at the Shire Hall , Chelmsford , for the annual meeting of tho Lodge , to instal the new W . M ., where it has been held for some years past ; but the chairman of the bench ( Mr . Kemble ) said a resolution and order of the Court of Quarter Sessions now defined for what purposes the use of the room might be granted , and the object of this application did not come within that rule . They wore thus compelled to refuse it .

Caveac Chapter , No . 176 . —On Saturday , 25 th November , at the Albion , Aldersgate-street , City , the regular convocation was held . There were present Comps . W . S . Wyman M . E . Z ., J . B .
