REPORTS OF MEETINGS .

— : o : — We shall be pleased to receive particulars of Masonic meetings tor insertion in our columns , and where desired will endeavour to send a representative , to report Lodge or other proceedings . We do not sanction anyone attending Lodge meetings as our representative without a specific invitation .

Confidence Lodge , No . 193 . THK usual weekly meeting was held on Wednesday , at the Hercules , Leadenhall Street , when we had the pleasure of seeing Bro . H . Hyde P . M . 1227 officiate as W . M ., with Bros . A . Hearn S . W ., Wallace Russ J . W ., J . K . Pitt P . M . Sec . acting Preceptor , W . Haughton S . D ., Metcalfe Baillie J . D ., J . Wynman I . G ., E . H . Bullock , A . Smith , and others .

— : o : — METROPOLITAN : INSTRUCTION .

The Lodge was opened and the W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of initiation , Bro . Bullock acting as candidate . Bro . Baillie gave the ancient charge . The W . M ., with the assistance of Bro . Pitt and the Brethren worked the first and second sections of the lecture . The working of Bro . Hyde was , as usual , hiehlv admired .

Pitt P . M . proposed that a hearty vote of thanks be recorded on the minutes for the working of the W . M ., for the mst

time in the Lodge . Bro . Baillie , in seconding the proposition , said he had had the pleasure of knowing the W . M . for some time , and his working was always highly admired . Bro . Hyde thanked the Brethren for their indulgence . He had been taken unawares , but was pleased to hear he had given satisfaction . He himself cud not think he was so perfect , and hoped to do better on a future occasion . Bro . Hearn was elected W . M . for Wednesdey next .

Tuesday , at the Kemble ' s Head , Long Acre . He was punctual in opening the Lodge at 8 o ' clock , and had the assistance of Bros . R . Fitch sen . S . W ., L . Lake J . W ., J . D . Graham P . M . Prec , C . Johnson acting Sec , A . J . Swash P . M . S . D ., T . AVoods W . M . 87 J . D ., J . Brandenburg I . G ., C . Johnson , R . Knill , W . B . Smith , I . Wvnman .

By desire of the W . M . Bro . C . Johnson , who is Preceptor of several Instruction Lodges , worked the first and second sections of the first lecture , whilst Bro . Graham Preceptor assisted the Brethren by dictating the answers . The W . M . next- rehearsed the ceremony of initiation , Bro . Knill making an excellent candidate . The Lodge was opened in the second a , nd third degrees , and closed down to the first . As we expected would be the case the working was perfectly rendered . Bro . Fitch , another excellent wovkar , was elected W . M . for Tuesday next . **********

Stuart Lodge , No . 1632 . Exi'KRlKN'CE has taught us that the worthy Preceptor of this Lodge ( Bro . W . J . Carroll W . M . of the Upton Lodge ) is able to give most admirable renderings of the different ceremonies , and accordingly we looked forward with considerable pleasure to a visit to this Lodge of Instruction , anticipating we should there find evidences of his knowledge and example . We were not

disappointed in this respect when we attended on Friday of last week , at the usual quarters of the Lodge at the Deacons Restaurant , 3 Walbrook , E . G ., although we must confess to a certain amount of regret when we found the Preceptor was unavoidably absent ; the duties of his Office devolved for the time being upon Bro . H . Hyde P . M . 1237—a Brother highly esteemed in the Upton Lodge , and well known in the Craft as an efficient worker and a capable instructor—and he did all that was needed to uphold the reputation of the " Upton boys . "

The accommodation placed at the disposal of the Lodge is most satisfactory , the quarters being both comfortable and commodious , while there is an additional benefit in the fact that the manager Bro . W . J . Yardley is a great favourite among members of the Craft , and does everything possible to ensure comfort and enjoyment for his patrons . The season of the yeiar and the near approach of Bank Holiday both had an effect on the attendance- , which was not so numerous as usual . Those present included Brothers R , T , A .
