NOTICES OF MEETINGS .

Lily Lodge of Richmond , No . 820 . —Tho installation meeting was held on Wednesday last , afc tlio Greyhound Hotel , Richmond . In tho absence of the AV . M . Brother Thomas Weaver , the Lodge waa opened by Bro . W . II . Myers P . M ., who called on Bro . Wm . Foster Reynolds , the Secretary , to read tho minutes of last meeting , which duly received confirmation . Tho Audit Committee ' s Report was then

submitted , and a very long discussion ensued ; it was thought advisable that certain matters therein referred to should bo still further considcred , and to effect this a committee was appointed , and requested to further report afc tho next meeting of tho Lodgo . Bro . T . Weaver having now arrived , tho chair was vacated in his favour by Bro . Myers , and Bro . Wright , a candidate for tho second degree , was examined . lie showed

that his knowledge of the first degree warranted tho stop he now took iu asking for advancement , and Bro . Weaver passed him to the degree of Follow Craft . Bro . Chcsswas was then raised to the sublime degree by Bro . P . M . Myers , who gave a careful and impressive vendering of the ceremony , tho solemnity of which was greatly enhanced by the musical accompaniment of Bro . Young , who acted as Organist .

Bro . Charles Hubbard , tho W . M . elect , was then presented to Bro . Myers , to receive at his hands tho benefit of installation , and tho obligation was formally taken . Tho brethren not entitled to remain iu Lodge were then requested to retire , a Board of Installed Masters was opened , aud Bro . Hubbard regularly placed in tho chair of King Solomon . The brethren wero then re-admitted , the

cusfcomary salutations wore given , and the appointment of officers made , as follows : —Bros . Wells S . W ., Lamb J . W ., Giles P . M . Treas ., Reynolda Sec ., Kyezor S . D ., Young J . D ., Phillips I . G ., Cook S . Steward , Page Deane J . Steward , Myers P . M . D . C , Gilbert Tyler . Bro . Myers then delivered the addresses , and completed his labours , amidst the applause of all present . A motion by Bro . Koch P . M . to tho effect

that the visiting fee afc ordinary meetings be raised from 10 s 6 d to 12 s 6 d , and afc installation meetings from 15 s to 21 s , after somo discussion was withdrawn . A P . M . ' s jewel was then presented to the retiring W . Master , Bro , Weaver , and having been gracefully aekuowledged by that worthy Brother , tho Lodge was shortly afterwards closed , and the brethren sat down to an excellent and

wellserved banquet . Tho usual Loyal and Masonic toasts having been dnly honoured , —Bro . Joshua Nunn , P . G . S . B ., replying for that of "Tho Deputy Grand Master , Lord Skelmersdale , aud the rest of tho Grand Officers , Past and Present "—the W . M ., in proposing thai ; of tho Masonic Institutions , referred to the enormous benefits they conferred , and concluded a neat and effective speech by associating with the toast tho name of Bro . Charles Lacey . Bro . Lacey , iu reply , fully

confirmed the W . Master ' s statement , and pointed out that there were , in the three together , not very far short of 700 persons who were either educated aud maintained for a term of years , iu order that they mig ht be fitted for the battle of life , or , having fallen into a state of penury , received substantial assistance in their declining years . Ho spoko also with pride of tho large amount—about £ 10 , 000—which was now annually subscribed towards their support . Our worthy brother concluded aa follows : —

" Let it not be said when wo are gone , We lived but for ourselves alone ; But leb our wives and children find Somo blessings we have left behind . " Tho toast of tho Visitors was acknowledged by Bros . Phillips , Lacey ) Lay , and Walters . The health of the W . M . was proposed by tho I . P . M .,

and the former , in acknowledging tho compliment , took the opportunity of passing a well merited eulogy on Bro . Myers P . M ., to whom ho said he was indebted for the knowledge ho had acquired of the Royal Art . Bro . Myers was always ready to impart the knowledge he possessed , and was as well known for his courtesy as for his ability as a Mason . In his further remarks the W . M . said he should rely with confidence on

his Officers to assist him in tho fulfilment of his duties , and ho trusted his year of office would furnish evidence that iu electing hitu to fill it , tho brethren had not misplaced their confidence . With the toast of the Past Masters was associated tho name of Bro . Weaver I . P . M ., who accordingly acknowledged it in a suitable manner , and tho list of toasts was closed by that of tho Tyler . The musical

arrangements were under tho direction of Bro . J . Stedmau , and gave unqualified satisfaction ; bnt we doprecato the system , which we havo noticed is adopted by other Lodges also , of including among the artists gentlemen who arc not Masons . There is always the risk thifc tho old alarm , "Ifc rains ' . " may have to be sounded . Wo wish , also , we could say that the

" Lily of Richmond , " which wo sincerely trust may have a long and prosperous career before it , is at the present moment in as flourishing a condition , financially , as its many friends could desire . However , by the exercise of a little economy , by courageously lopping off all expenditure which is not absolutely necessary , there is no

doubt whatever that the balance between the receipts and disbursements may bo redressed , and that where there is now a deficiency , there will very shortly be an excess . Wc have gone slightly out ot the boiiten track in making theso remarks , because we tako the liberty of placing ourselves in the category of tho Lily ' s sincere friends and well wishers ,

cusfcomary salutations wore given , and the appointment of officers made , as follows : —Bros .
