London : HOUEKT COCKS & Co ., 6 New Bnrhngton Street , W . AN amusing and tuneful operetta is " He Stoops to Win , " written by Cunningham Bridgman and composed by Wilfred Bendall . The scene is laid in the morning room in General Blunt ' s house on Christmas morning of the present time , and has four characters , originally

represented by tho well-known artistes Messrs . Wallace Brownlow and Courtico Pounds , and the Misses Decima Moore and Kosina Brandram . The libretto , as far as we can judge from that supplied with the musio , is both laughable and amusing , while the music is pretty and tuneful . Tho operetta is in ono act , occupying about

40 minuteB in playing , and should be sought after both by the amateur and the professional . We may mention that there is a song entitled " Love ' s Slavery" for one of the characters—Dale ; another for General Blunt , entitled "I've fought in many battles ; " ono for Mrs . Crumpet , " The romance of a muffin and crumpet ; " a ballad for

Alice , '" I love him so ; " a dnet for Mrs . Crumpet and Dale ; a trio for Alice , Dale , and Mrs . Crumpet ; and a dnet for the Genoral aud Alice , while the finale is a capital composition . We have already given onr opinion of tho merits of Clifton Bingham and Frederic H . Cowen'scnnlnta for female voices , "The Fairies' Spring , " and all we

need now say is that it has beeu translated into Tonic Sol . Fa notation by C . Wpbh in » style that clearly shows that he is a thorough master of this system of muMC . Threo splendid pieces for the organ aro " A Wedding Processional March , " a Minuet in D ., entitled " A Dream of Mozart , " and " Mediation , " composed by Jamo 3 Shaw . All of

these should fiud a placo in the repertoire of thoso fond of the organ ; they have been dedicated to aud aro performed by Mons . Alex Gnilmant . We now come to tho songs , the first ou our list being " The Light of Thy Lovo , " by May Gillington and Georges l'l ' oiffdr . This is a capital song , and is being snog by Mr . William Nicholl .

My Love and Delight " is a pretty aud attractive song , and May Gillington aud Ernest Lako are to bo congratulated on tbeir work . Anotber that is sure to become popular is Clifton Bingham and Henry J . Edwards' " All iu All to Thoe . " The words are good , and we have no doubt that thoso who purchase will be greatly pleased

with it . " Thou art my Life , " English words by Clifton Bingham , Italian words by P . Mazzoni , and music by Angelo Maschoroni , is a 8 ong that will bo sure to obtain an encore when properly sung ; the words are interesting , while tho music is suitable and melodious . A Rood stirring soug is " The Arena , " by Shapcott Weusley and Joseph

L . Roeckel , and is most effective . We recommend it to our readers , feeling sure they will be highly pleased with it . Clifton Bingham is once moro to the fore with tho verses for "The Silent Ferry , " and has called in Henri Loze to snpply the music , which is of a character •hat is at once attractive , and is sure to be appreciated both in tho

cou cert or tue dv & w - Wg room . " Au Eastern Lameut , " by 11 . S . Hitchens , music by Joseph L . Eoeckel , is now being sung by Mr . Harrington Foote and Mr . Charles Copland , so that any further remarks from us aro needless . " Ever since Then " is from the pen of Mr . Clemout Scott , while Mr . William P . Aimes baa supplied

MUSIC of a most pleasing description , and no doubt it will become Popular . The last ou our preseut list , Clifton Bingham aud Frederic H . Cowen ' s " The Silent Chimes , " is a thoroughly good song , and could

be sung with the assuranco that it would bo appreciated , for yjo words are pretty aud the music melodious . Wo commend Messrs . Cocks for the caro bestowed on the " get up " of the different pieces .
