REPORTS OF MEETINGS .

We shall be pleased to receive particulars of Masonic meetings for insertion in our columns , and where desired will endeavour to send a representative , to report Lodge or other proceedings .

CRAFT : METROPOLITAN . CITY OF WESTMINSTER LODGE , No . 1563 . rpiHE Brethern of this strong Lodge—which bears a reputation for good I working—assembled on Monday , 6 th inst ., at the Cafe Royal , Regent Street , under the presidency of Bro . E . T . Ginder W . M ., who was supported by Bros . H . T . Culliford S . W ., E . Rutherford J . W ., C . M . Branden P . M . Treas ., W . C . Smith P . M . Sec , T . A . Beach Assist Sec , H . J . Homer S . D ., J . B . O'Callaghan J . D ., J . B . Burton I . G ., S . Fonseca Steward , R . F . Potter P . M . Tyler , Past Masters H . Marks , H . Fonseca , and others .

The Visitors included Bros . H . W . France 1602 , S . W . Gumoner W . M . 1155 , M . Goldstein 898 , G . Hoot 1708 , W . Innes 1539 , and J . Harlstone 1668 . The Lodge having been duly formed the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed . The Lodge was advanced to the second degree , and Bros . W . G . Merry , R . Curtice , C . 3 . Ewer , and W . Malins , candidates for the third degree , were presented , examined and entrusted , being afterwards raised in the Master Mason Lodge to the full privileges of the Craft .

The W . M . resumed the Lodge to the first degree , and Bros . A . Bott , A . L . Bonden , W . Johnson , G . P . Parfitt and W . Goode were examined as to their proficiency , and in due order were passed to the degree of Fellow Craft . Lodge was once more resumed to the first degree , when Mons . Ferdinand Necolas Louis , and Messrs . Bernard Von Praag , Frederick Smith , Edward Hayllur , and Alfred Davis -were admitted alter a favourable ballot , and were regularly initiated into the mysteries of Freemasonry .

The working of the three degrees was most satisfactory , the ritual being rendered in perfect and correct form , and evidently making a favourable impression on the different candidates . After some other items of business had been transacted the W . M . proceeded to close the Lodge , first of all receiving the hearty good wishes of tho Brethren , who thereupon adjourned to the banquet room , where an excellent dinner awaited them .

In due course the W . M . submitted the usual Loyal toasts , which were enthusiastically honoured . Bro . H . Marks P . M . proposed the health of the W . M ., saying he was sure the Brethren had enjoyed a real Masonic treat that day , in listening to the working of Bro . Ginder , to whom their warmest congratulations were certainly due . The toast met a hearty reception .

The W . M . tendered his thanks , and expressed the pride he felt in holding the position of Worshipful Master of the City of Westminster Lodge . He was pleased to think he had given satisfaction , and hoped to continue doing so as long as he held office in the Lodge . He concluded by again thanking Bro . Marks for his complimentary remarks , and the Brethren for receiving the toast in so cordial a manner .

The W . M . had very much pleasure in giving the toast of the Past Masters , whom he regarded as Brethren to be proud of—ready to do everything in their power for the welfare of Freemasonry in general , and the Lodge of which they had passed the chair in particular . The compliment was suitably acknowledged by the Brethren included in the toast , . Bros . Marks and Fonseca .

The next toast was that of the initiates , which the W . M . approached with considerable pleasure . The Brethren admitted that evening had been proposed by good members of the Lodge , and had themselves given evidence of intere ' st in the Craft , which should lead them to pursue their researches into its working . The toast was regularly acknowledged by the new members . The Visitors were next toasted , and were heartily welcomed by the Master , who assured them it was at all times the wish of the members that guests should thoroughly enjoy themselves . Several of the visitors acknowledged the compliment paid them .

The Treasurer , Secretary , and Officers of the Lodge were honoured , and suitable response was made to their toast . Several of the Brethren added to the enjoyment of the meeting , by contribution of song or recitation .

CLARENCE AND AVONDALE LODGE , No . 2411 . rpHE Members of this Lodge held their last meeting before the summer _ L vacation on Thursday , 2 nd inst ., at the Masonic Hall , Leytonstone , when the following were present : Bros . Samuel Fennell W . M ., A . P . Bobrouth I . P . M ., T . Blyth S . W ., E . Jennings J . W ., 3 . West P . M . Treas ., W . Fisher P . M . Sec , 3 . 3 . L . Linton S . D ., 3 . S . R . Moloney J . The Lodge—which is both a perfect working and prosperous one—was opened in constitutional form wi tb solemn prayer , and the minutes of last meeting wete read and confirmed . Lod ge was advanced to the second degree , and Bros . Turner and Teal , who were passed as Fellow Crafts at the previous meeting , were examined . Having answered the questions in a very satisfactory manner they were entrusted , the Lodge was opened in the third degree , and they were raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason . Lodge was resumed to the first degree , and Bro . E . C . Cocks , who had

been absent since his initiation , nearly three years since , on account of his sea-faring duties , was examined and passed as a Fellow Craft . The W . M . again resumed the Lodge to the first degree , and Mr . Walter Oliver was presented as a candidate , the ballot having been previously proved unanimous in his favour . He was regularly initiated into the mysteries of ancient Freemasonry .

Other business followed , and after well earned hearty good wishes the Lodge was closed , and the Brethren adjourned to a recherche banquet , which reflected tha highest credit on the genial host and proprietor Bro . E . W . Greenwood .

The cloth being removed , the W . M . gave the usual Loyal toasts in eloquent terms , the same being received by the Brethren with due honour . Bro . George Graveley was coupled with the toast of the Grand Officers , and he made suitable response . The I . P . M . proposed the health of the W . M . in flattering terms , remarking that the ruler ot the Lodge had fulfilled his duties that evening in such a way as to win the admiration of all who had listened to him .

The W . M . acknowledged the compliments paid him , saying how much he appreciated the honourable position he had won in the Lodge , and thanking the Brethren tor having received the toast in so cordial a manner . The next toast was that of the initiate , which the W . M . proposed in suitable terms , giving the new member a hearty welcome , and expressing his conviction that he would make an excellent Mason among them .

Bro . Walter Oliver returned sincere thanks for the toast . He was very pleased to have been initiated into the Order , and had been very much impressed with the ceremony he had gone through , which he felt , he should never forget . In proposing the health of the visitors the W . M . expressed the pleasure

of the members that they were able to entertain the guests who were among them . He made special reference to Bro . George Graveley , a present Grand Officer of England , and hoped he and the other visitors had enjoyed the work of the Lodge and the hospitality they had been able to dispense afterwards .

Bro . Graveley responded in his usual hearty manner , complimenting the W . M . on the way in which he had carried out the work of the various degrees that had fallen to his lot that day . Bro . Goodall and other Visitors also replied , tendering thanks for a most enjoyable evening . Bro . Bebrouth ,- replying as I . P . M ., expressed the pride he felt in hiss position , and promised to render whatever assistance he could to add to the welfare and prosperity of the Lodge .

With the toast of the Past Masters was included the names of the Treasurer and Secretary , to which response was made . Then followed the toast of the Officers of the Lodge , also responded to in hearty manner . During the evening Bro . M . H . W . Sherwin ably presided at the piano , and provided the company with some excellent music , whilst Bro . W . Fisher Secretary , Barnes , Martin , and several other Brethren added to the enjoyment of the evening , in fact the proceedings throughout were most agreeable and happy .

The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Ridley acting as candidate . Lodge was advanced to the second degree and Bro . Hubbard was examined ; the third ceremony being afterwards rehearsed with him as the candidate . The working of Bro . Hide was most satisfactory , while it was an additional pleasure to us to see Bro . R . H . Williams P . M . Preceptor of the

Royal Alfred and other Lodges , discharging the same duties here with his usual ability . In addition to this the Lodge has the advantage of good quarters , while the host of the Hotel , Bro . Cates , does all in his power to ensure the comfort and enjoyment of his gutsts , to that in every way we feel justified in recommending the St . Michael Lodge to Brethren of the district . Bro . S . Webb was elected to preside on Monday next .

WESTBOURNE LODGE , No . 733 . ON Tuesday , at the Oliver Arms , Westbourne Terrace North , Harrow Road , W ., Bro . G . Weaver W . M ., 0 . Halston S . W ., Busby J . W ., H . Dehane P . M . P . P . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . G . Mogford candidate . Lodge was called off and on , opened in the second degree , and the ceremony of passing rehearsed , Bro . Dehane personating the candidate . Bro . C . Halston was elected W . M . for next week .

ROYAL ALFRED LODGE , No . 780 . ON Thursday , 2 nd inst ., at the Star and Garter Hotel , Kew Bridge , Bro . R . W . Robinson W . M ., H . R . Worth S . W ., F . J . Cross J . W ., F . J . Larkman Treas ., J . H . Cumming Sec , H . T . Johnson S . D ., J . Dinnis J . D ., R . H . Williams Preceptor , A . E . Furness I . G ., F . Craggs P . M . 834 , 3 . W . Blaydes , J . Halstead , H . Bro . H . J . Cousens S . W . 172 was elected a member , his reception giving great satisfaction , as he is known to be a most able exponent of the ritual . Bro . H . R .
