REPORTS OF MEETINGS .

We shall be pleased to receive particulars of Masonic meetings for insertion in our columns , and where desired will endeavour to send a representative , to report Lodge or other proceedings .

CBAFT : PEOVINCIAL . — : o : —

UNITED BRETHREN LODGE , No . 346 . THE annual pic-nic in connection with this Lodge took place on Thursday afternoon , 19 th ult ., when about sixty-two members journeyed to Bolton-by-Bowland . Beautiful weather favoured the occasion , and the party drove in waggonettes by way of Mytton and Waddington to their destination , where an excellent tea was provided . Afterwards the party rambled in different directions amon » the many interesting places of the district until about _ eight o ' clock , when , the return journey was commenced . After spending a very enjoyable time Blackburn was reached about eleven o ' clock .

* * » ALLIANCE LODGE , No . 667 . nnHE members had a very enjoyable pic-nic on Wednesday , 18 th ult ., when _ L the members and friends , numbering fifty-eight , visited Clitheroe .

Saloons were provided , with ample refreshments for the journey , and on arrival dinner was served at the Swan and Royal Hotel . Afterwards , conveyances took the party to Whalley and Mytton , returning to Clitheroe to tea . The return journey was commenced at 6 . 50 , and the weather throughout was all that could be wished .

On arrival at Liverpool nothing but praise was heard at the arrangements that had been made for the comfort and enjoyment of all . Brother Rowe W . M . had just reason to be satisfied with the pic-nic of his year of Office , and with the assistance he received from his Officers and other members of the Lodge . '

* * SYDNEY LODGE , No . 829 . THE installation meeting was held on Tuesday , 10 th ult ., at the Black Horse Hotel , Sidcup . The Lodge was convened at the early hour of 12 noon , which was necessitated by the amount of work to be got through , which included the raising , passing , and initiation of candidates . The W . M . Bro . H . S . Syer and Bro . T . Knight P . M . ably performed the duties appertaining to the three degrees .

The installation of the new Worshipful Master Bro . W . Bull followed at 3 . 30 p . m ., by which hour there was a large attendance of Brethren . The installation was impressively undertaken by Bro . R . Henry Hale P . M ., and the new W . M . was subsequently saluted by the Brethren after the custom of the Craft . After investing his Officers the Worshipful Master , on behalf of the Lodge ,

presented Bro . Syer with a Past Master ' s jewel , which had been unanimously voted in recognition of the duties he had discharged during the past year . The I . P . M . returned thanks in appropriate terms . The banquet was served at 6 . 30 , and the catering by Bro . W . J . Goddard was all that could be desired .

After dinner the usual toasts were proposed . That of the Provincial Grand Master , the Deputy , and the rest of the Prov . G . Officers was responded to by Bro . the Rev . H . L . Fry P . P . G . Chaplain , who alluded to the forty years of Masonic service rendered by Earl Amherst . They had , indeed , in the Grand Lodge those who would keep Masonry up to the high state of perfection that it had ever held .

•The Worshipful Master was proposed by Bro . H . S . Syer I . P . M ., who spoke of the high esteem in which Bro . Bull was held by the Brethren of the Sydney Lodge , and congratulated him on having the assistance during his year of Office of the Officers whom he had invested that afternoon . The Worshipful Master , who was enthusiastically greeted , responded briefly . He thanked the Brethren for their support , whith he was sure he might rely on in his year of Office , which he entered on with confidence , knowing that he would have the co-operation of many past Officers .

The Installing Officer was proposed by the W . M ., and was acknowledged by Bro . R . H . Hale . In his response Bro . Hale observed that he owed a great debt of gratitude to the Sydney Lodge , in which he was initiated eight years ago , and he would be glad at all times to perform such service as might be required of him . There was a kindly feeling and sympathy existing among the Brethren which he greatly appreciated .

* * * THREE GRAND PRINCIPLES LODGE , No . 967 . THE Brethren of this Lodge made a very pleasing excursion to Mawgan and Bedruthan Steps on Thursday , 19 th ult . Mustering at seven a . m . the party mounted a well-horsed Jersey car and drove through Truro and up to Ladock Valley to St . Columb . Here a halt was made for change of horses ,

and in the meantime St . Columb Major church , & c , were visited , after which the drive was continued through the beautiful grounds of Carnanton and down the lovely Vale of Lanherne , which was truly enchanting . At the Falcon Hotel , Mawgan , the company did justice to an excellent luncheon . This over , a start was made for the far-famed Bedruthan Steps , where the

caves , Queen Elizabeth rock , and magnificent cliffs were visited , the party returning to Mawgan for high tea . After visiting the fine old church , & c , the homeward journey was resumed . A short stay was made at St . Columb , •whilst the Brethren visited the handsome quarters of the Duke of Cornwall Lodge , No . 1529 . Leaving St . Columb the party made a rapid journey to Truro .

The W . M . Bro . S . H . Milsom and Bro . J . H . Chubb P . M . were responsible for the arrangements .. * * *

BROWNLOW LODGE , No . 2131 . nnHE annual pic-nic was held on Thursday , 26 th ult ., and , as was the case JL last year , the place visited was Chester . The Brethren from Ellesmere , with their lady relatives , joined the Oswestry Brethren and their friends at Oswestry , and at 11 . 28 journeyed to Chester . On reaching the river , a steam launch was in waiting , and a delightful trip was made up the river . Subsequently , a landing was made , and in the grateful shade pf a wooded

glen luncheon was served . The trip was afterwards continued up the river , and on returning a stoppage was made for tea . The return journey to Chester in the evening was fully enjoyed , and the day ' s pleasure was much enhanced by the strains of an excellent string band , with vocalist , who had been engaged for the occasion . The W . M . Bro . T . Poole and the Committee are to be congratulated on the result of so successful an undertaking . * # * .

ROLL CALL LODGE , No . 2523 . THERE was a full muster at the Oddfellows' Hall , Hounslow , on Thursday evening , 12 th ult ., on the occasion of the annual installation . Bro . John Price W . M . installed his successor Bro . E . 0 . P . Hodgkinson , who appointed the Officers . At the completion of the business about seventy of the Brethren sat down to a sumptuous banquet , for which excellent provision was made by Bro . and Mrs . W . H . Duffy .
