There was every appearance of future prosperity for the Lodgo in the fact that no less than seventeen joining members were ballotted for and accepted , while six

gentlemen were proposed as candidates . Of these latter five put in an appearance , viz ., Messrs . Thomas Fraser , Prank Parker , Charles Danby , Lionel Wormser Harris , and Jame 3 Lingford Kirby , who , having been regularly approved , were duly initiated into the mysteries and privileges of the Craft by tho acting W . M ., the oeremony being performed in a highly impressive manner . The Com .

mittee appointed to draw up the bye-laws of the Lodgo presented their report , when ( ho various regulations wore agreed to by the brethren , and the So . rotary was directed to submit them to the Grand Lodge for approval . Membership of the Lodge is restricted to those who belong to the

Eccentrio Club , in Shaftesbury Avenue , but as there are upwards of sis hundred members tho nnmber of brethren need not necessarily be very limited . The annnal installation festival will take place on the first Friday in October , and the brethren will meet sis times during the winter months .

There being no other busiuoas , tho Master received the good wishes of the visitorp , and tho brethren adjoarned to the banquet room . A very pleasant evening followed , several talented brethren taking part in tho entertainment . In response to tbe tiast of the Initiates , Bro . Charles Danby gave a most admirable speeoh , which made considerable impression upon

the brethren . After stating that hia province in life was to cause people to laugh by making fun of everything , he said that he found himself for the first time in a position that certainl y was not humorous . He could hardly tell what opinion he had had of Freemasonry , but the ceremony that afternoon and the obligations he

had taken npon himself to perform had impressed him deeply and would be ever engraven on his heart . He trusted he mi ght become a true and worthy brother , for he was assured by what he had seen and heard that day that if he were a good Mason he must of necessity be a good man .

E . Roberts P . M . ( FREEMASON ' S CHRONICLE ) . The principal business of the evening was tho reading of tho minutes of conseoration , and the initiation of Mossr * . George Henry Russell , acoountant , Manchoster , and Oswald Dea-den , Bary , both ceremonies being performed by the W . M .

Metropolitan Lodge of Instruction , No . 1507 . —Hold at the Moorgate , 15 Finsbury Pavement , on Monday , 20 th ult , Bros . Gnrner W . M ., Smith S . W ., Ganard J . W ., Tubby S . D ., Ellinger J . D ., Lewis I . G . Preceptor , Scales Treasurer , Saunders Secretary , Johnson Assistant Secretary , Price Organist , W . A . Scurrah , A . Scurrah ,

Thorn , Edmonds , Whiting , Surridge , Hose , McEivan , and Barry . Ceremonies of passing and raising rehearsed . Lodge resumed . Bro . Smith was elected W . M . for tho next meeting . Bro . MoEwan was heartily congratulated on his being installed Master of the Metro - politan Lodge .

Honor Oak Lodge of Instruction , No . 1986 . —At the first meeting of the Honor Oak Lodge of Instruction , held at the Crystal Palace Hotel , Crystal Palace Koad , on tha 5 th nit ., Bro . P . M . Andrews , by desire of the brethren , took the chair , and appointed his Officers . A letter from the Grand Secretary was read , stating that no consecration ceremony or formal inauguration was necessary

for the constitntion of a Lodge of Instruction . Bro . Dr . Lawaon W . M . of the Honor Oak Lodge , No . 1 , 986 , announced that the mother Lodge had given unanimous consent to the formation of the Lodge of Instruction , and that the formal warrant was being prepared . Several portions of the various ceremonies were worked , and the following Officers were elected : Bros . Andrews P . M . Preceptor , Britten Secretary , Hiuo Treasurer . The joining fee of the Lodge is

fixed at a Is , and the attendance fee 3 d for each night . It was carried unanimously , that the best thauks of the Lodgo be accorded to the Preceptor , Secretary , and Officers of the Selwyn Lodge of Instruction for their kindness in lending fnrnitare , & c , the same to be recorded on the minntes , and that the Secretary ba instructed to write to tho Sslwyn Lodge to that effect . Bro . Wimble P . M ., Secretary of the Selwyn Lodge of Instruction , retarned thanks .

We are pleased to announce that Brother J . Townley Trotter , F . S . S ., accountant , 27 Brazenuose Street , Manchester , also of Eccles and Ashton-under-Lyno , has

recently been admitted a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales . Brother Trotter , we may observe , is a rising Officer in the Ashbury Lodge , No . 1459 , West Gorton .

A testimonial is being organised to the well-known pianist and teacher , Bro . Wilhelm Kuhe Past Grand Organist , on the occasion of his seventieth birthday next month . The idea , says the Daily News , first took shape

in Brighton , where for upwards of forty years he resided , and where for ten years , between 1870 and 1880 , he carried on the Musical Festivals , which , although they did not bring much profit to himself , gave to the world so

many choral and other novelties by British and foreign composers . Bro . Kuhe was born ab Prague on the 10 th December 1823 , and first came to London in 1845 . In the following year he returned to accompany Jenny Lind

on tour as pianist , and in 1847 he settled down in Brighton , giving his first concert in that year at the Newburgh Rooms . He annually during the season visited

London , where he has a large connection as a teacher , and about three years since he took up his permanent residence here .
