18 th ult ., at tho Masonio Hall , Lowestoft . This was tho 146 th anniversary of tho Lodge . After the installation an adjournment was made to the Suffolk Hotel , where about 50 sat down to banquet .

ST . CUTHBERT'S LODGE , No . 630 . THE annnal fostival was held in the Masonio Hall , Howden , on the 19 th inst . Bro . J . G . Loam S . W . was installed W . M . by Bro . G . H . Anderton P . M . P . P . G . S . B . The newly-installed W . M . invested bis Officers . The installation banqnet was subsequently held at

Bowman ' s Hotel , where Mrc Warmsley , the hostess , provided a magnificent sproad . Bro . Loam W . M . presided , and the usual Loynl and Masonio toasts were honoured . Among tho visiting brethren wero members of many of the neighbouring Lodges .

PORTLAND LODGE , No . 637 . THE annual festival and installation of Bro . R . Williams wns held in the Town Hall , Stoke , on the 5 th ult . There was a very large number of brethren present . During the meeting an interesting presentation was made to thn Lodge by the W . M . on behalf of Mr . T . Bird , of the certificate ntd Ma 9 ter Mason's apron belonging to his late father , who waa initio t - < 1

into Freemasonry in the year 1815 in the Etruscan Lodge , which then held it 3 meetings at the Talbot Inn , Stoke , having been removed there from the Bridge Inn , Etrnria . The apron is qnite unique , and is a work of art , being hand painted . The gift was received with great pleasure by the Lodge , who pasBed a heaity vote of thanks to Mr . Bird .

STAR IN THE EAST LODGE , No . 650 . THE annnal meeting was held at the Great Eastern Hotel , Har . wich , on the 10 th ult . The oeremony of installing the W . M . eleot , Bro . 0 . Whyatt , wai ably performed by Bro . A . J . H . Ward P . G . M . P . P . G . Reg . The W . M . appointed his Officers .

The installation banquet was afterwards held in the handsome coffee-room of the hotel , the menu and the wines being in evory way in keeping with the well-deserved reputation of the Company ' s Hotel Department .

PRINCE OF WALES LODGE , No . 959 . THE anniversary meeting was held at the Masonio Hall , Ipswich , on the 6 th inst ., when Bro . William Kemp was installed W . M . The ohair was occupied by Bro . James Hard wick I . P . M ., and there

was a large gathering of brethren . The installation c « remony was impressively performed by Bro . John White , after which the Worshipful Master invested » nd appointed his Offioers . The installation banquet and usual toasts followed .

ROYAL SOMERSET LODGE , No . 973 . BRO . R . C . ELSE , Deputy Provincial Grand Master Somerset , officiated at the Masonic H » ll , North Parade , Frome , en the

occasion of the installation of Bro . R . S . Gough , who subsequently appointed the Offioers for the year , and . presided at the annuul banquet .

FOUR CARDINAL VIRTUES LODGE , No . 979 . J 3 AT the festival of St . John , held at Crewe , Bro . James Syer Warren , head master of the National Schools , NesB , was installed as Worshipful Mast « r for the ensuing year . The installation ceromony was performed by Brother Jamei Salmon P . P . G . S . W . Chester .

Bro . Warreu thanked the brethren for this renewed mark of their confidence , aud promised to do his utmost to transmit ia nnsul lied splendour the office to his successor at the close of the year .

ST . PETER'S LODGE , No . 1024 rpHE annual festival was held on the 25 th ult ., when Bro . 0 . B . J- Gowers was installed W . M . by his brothor , Bro . E . Gowera P . P . G . O . Tho Worshipful Muster was elected to represent the Lodgo on the Provincial Charity Committee . The brethren subsequently adjonmed to a banquet at tho Blue Boar Hotol , Maldou .

MARMION LODGE , No . 1060 . AT the annnal meeting Bro . E . S . Sumner was installed as W . M . for the ensning jear , and appointed his Offioers . Abont 25 visiting brethren weie present fiom Birmingham , Lichfield , Rugeley ,

Stafford , Barton , and Cape Colony Lodges . The Deputy Provincial Grand Master , Col . Bindley , also attended . , The annnal banquet was subseqnently beld at the Castle Hotel , Tamworth .

TOWNLEY PARKER LODGE , No . 1083 . THE regular meeting was held at the Giand Hotel , Manchester , on Wednesday , 25 th ult ., Bro . George Parker W . M . A goodly array of work confronted tho Worshipful Master in shape of four initiations and a raising , but such arrangements had been made that had all the candidates put in an appearance the ceremonies would have been performed . After the minntei had been read and

confinned , a ballot was taken for Mr . James Sturgeon , merchant , Rasholme , which being successful , he was prepared and duly initiated by Bro . Godfrey Higham P . M . P . P . G . D . Dir . of Cers . A ballot was also taken for Mr . William Henry Asquitb , engineer , Ardwick , and being favourable , he also took his fir * t degree in Masonry , tbe ctr . ' -

mony being performed by Bro . J . Selby I . P . M . In both kstances tho working tools wore explained by Bro . R . Lingnr . J J . W . The Lorlge wns afterwards openod in tho second degree , ard Bro . James Harford having proved his efficiency , was duly raised to the sublime degree by Bro . Parker W . M . In this cose the working

It is needless to say that , undertaken by such Officers as those montioned , the ceremonies were performed in a manner which added to the already assured reputation of tho Townley Parker Lodge . ON Friday , the 13 th ult ., Lord Ampthill , the Provincial Grand Master of Bedfordshire , visited Leighton Bnzzard , and was present at the installation of this Lodge . His Lordship was supported by many Provincial Grand Officers , and in addition to a strong master of members of the Lodge there were visitors from Northampton , Luton , Dnnstablp , Buckingham , Berkbametead ,

Bushey , and London . Bro . Thomas Dixon , having been unanimously elected , was installed W . M . Bro . Arthur Spendlove officiated aB Installing Master . A banqnet was subsequently held at tho Swan Hotel , at which his lordship was present , and after the usual loyal toasts he delivered an addres ? , which was an eloquent and masterl y exposition of the tenets and merits of Freemasonry .

BENEVOLENCE LODGE , No . 1168 . MAJOR McADAM has been installed W . M . The installation , which took place on Wednesday , 25 th ult ., at Sherbourue , was performed by Bro . G . Cross , tbe retiring Master .

WAVERLEY LODGE , No . 1322 . A VERY largo attendance of members and visitors gathered together at the Queen's Arms , Ashton . nnder-Lyne , on Thursday , 2 ( iih October , tho occasion being tho installation of Bro . Joseph Riley S . W .
