enthusiastically of the efforts he had made towards making the Lodge successful , and concluded a very excellent speech by saying that he felt certain Bro . Riley , npon whom their ehoioe had fallen , would nevor cause them to regret that th » y bad placed him in the Master ' s chair . Bro . Riley W . M . in reply thanked them for their oonfidenco , and
assured them thnt anything wh'ch he could do to maintain the honour of the Lodgo Bhould te gladly rendered . The duty of proposing the toast of the Installing Master was relegated to Bro . Albert Sumnors S . W ., who stated that he was unable to say with certainty how tho work of installation had been performed , ho being one of those who , by the rules of the Craft were
exoluded from the Board of Installed Masters . But judging by former effortB of Bro . Jones , and from remarks which he had just heard , the work must of necessity have been exoellently well done , and he congratulated them upon possessing such an Officer as Bro . J . Mercer Jones . Bro . Jones responded . He said that it afforded him extreme
pleasure to have acted as Installing Master thst day . He deplored the fact that his abilities were not greater , so that he might have been enablod to perform so noble a dnty with perfection , but under all circumstances he endeavoured to do his duly . Uo reverted to the assistance which had beeu afforded him by Bros . Newton , Smith , and Eastwood , saying that if the ceremony which had been performed
by thorn was efficient , nnd had given the satisfaction which was apparent , jndging from the words of the S . W ., thon he and his colleagues muat indeed feel grateful . When ho became a member of the Craft eleven years ago , h 9 had mado tip his mind to do all the work which should ba apportioned to him , and in his efforts to perfect himself he had grown to like Masonry in direct ratio to tha
anccess he had attained , and if some day he should aspire to the purple , ho hoped to wear it in snch a manner that ho should not bring discredit upon it . Bro . Eastwood iu proposiug the toast of the W . M . s of neighbouring Lodgen , gave them a hearty welcome , stating that it was by visiting and friendly intercourse that Officers made themselves

He said that being the junior member of the Lcdgo he bad felt somewhat taken aback when this duty was reqnircd of him . Oa behalf of

W . M . presided , and he was supported by Bros . J . W . Headley I . P . M ., F . Wado , J . B . Wilkinson , and Dr . Murphy , P . M . 8 . Bro . A . T . Shepherd S . W . was unanimously elected W . M . for the ensuing year , and it was deoided to nominate Bro . F . Wade P . M . for the office of Provincial Treasurer of Durham for next year .
WYCOMBE LODGE , No . 1501 rriHIS flourishing Lodge resumed the winter session at the South X Bucks Auction Mart , High Wycombe , on tho 26 th ult . A good
number of brethren assembled . The report of the Audit Committeo was read ard adopted , there being a substantial balance in the hands of the Treasurer . Bro . F . Johnccck was installed W . M . for tha ensuing year by Bro . G . T . James I . P . M . P . G . S . B . The newlv-9 lected W . M . appointed his Officers , aud presented to
Bro . James , on behalf of the Lodge , a handsome P . M . ' s jewel in recognition of his valuable and effioient services to tho Lodgo during his year of office . At tbo conclusion of the business the banquet , under the presi * denoy of the newly-elected W . M ., was held at the Wellington Room of the Red Lion Hotel , whan tho usual toasts were given .
CONCORD LODGE , No . 1534 . rpHE annual meeting and festival of St . John in connection with J the above Lodge was held at Cheater Bank , Prestwich , on Thursday , I 9 th ulfc ., Bro . W . Willoughby Briggs W . M . After the confirmation of minutes Bro . Trevor P . Briggs was dnly passed by Bro . S . F . Simons P . M ., the latter being assisted by Bro . W . B . Midgley J . W ., who described the working tools , and Bro . W . H . Norton S . W ., who rendered the charge .
The reports of the Auditor ! and Inventory Committee were presented , but discussion upon them was adjourned . This business over , Bro . E . P . Mead P . M . Installing Master took the prinoipal chair , and installed Bro . Norton S . W . Most of the visitors subsequently reverted to the admirable manner in which Bro . Mead and the Past Masters who assisted him

M ., in a vigorous and masterly speech , drew attention to the important wo : k which Bro . Briggs I . P . M . had performed in connection with the Lodge , showing how loyally under every circumstance he had attended to his onerous duties , and
concluded by presenting to him , on behalf of the Concord Lod ge , a magnificent gold jewel in recognition of such services . Bro . Briggs , in responding , alluded to the eloquence with whioh the W . M . had proposed the toast of his health , but thought he Lad slightly exaggerated in the amount of praise which he had lavished upon him . Recognising , however , tho spirit by which Bro . Norton
was actnated , he would try to p ? rform what duties might fall to his lot in the future so as to merit similar approbation . With regard to the jewel which had been presented to him , he should exhibit it to his friends as an evidence of tbe faot that the work which he had performed had given satisfaction . Bro . Walkden proposed the Masonic Charities , coupling with it the
name of Bro . Hothersall . Bro . Walkden , whilst admitting that tho toast of tho W . M . waa by some considered the first in importance , yet he waa of opinion that the Charities took precedence of it , and reverted to the ritual for substantiation . Of all attributes , said he iu conclusion , that of charity i 3 the groatest . Bro . Hothersall , in reply , also expatiated upon this theme , and aaid that the Concord Lodgo still held its ground as possession the
greatest number of Life Governors of any Lod ge in the Province . He granted that they might not be able to maintain such a position for many years , but at present the gratifying fact remained as he had stated . Bro . Thompson , in what might be truly described as an admirable preoration , proposed the health of the Visiting Bretbron , and expressed hia pleasure in being confronted by so many illustrious
