There was a good gathering of members and visitors . The ceremony waa performed by Bro . Joseph Jonoa , while Bro . R . A . Forsyth was Director of Ceremonies .

PRINCE OF WALES LODGE , No . 1705 . ON Thursday ,, the 26 th ult ., at the Lodge room , India Arms Hotel , Gosport , Bro . R , A . Renfree was installed W . M . The ceremony was performed by Dr . E . T . Cronch P . M . P . G . D . C , in the presence of a considerable number of the Craft , including many W . M . s and

visitors from Portsmouth . Dr . Crouch was presented with a P . G . D . C . ' s jewel in recognition of his services during bis second year of office an W . M . When the business of the evening had conoluded , the brethren adjourned to the banquet-room , where the W . M . presided at the festive board . The musical arrangements were conducted by Bro . G . Pearman P . P . G . Org .

The minntes of the previous meeting hating been read and confirmed , a ballot took place on behalf of Mr . Alderman Richard Mottram , a member of the Salford Town Council , the ballot boing successful . Mr . Mottram was then prepared , and upon his admission . into the Lodge tbe Worshipful Master performed the ceremony of initiation , in which bo was assisted by Bro . W . Mosley J . W . Bro . T . T . Sefton

S . W . was unanimously elected as principal Officer for the ensuing year , Bro . Townson being electad Treasurer . At the festive board Loyal and Masonio toasts were given , aftor which Bro . Duxbury propoicd the health of the newly-initiated brother . Bro . Mottram , in reply , said that tho duty of responding to such a

toast afforded him very great pleasure , especially as it had been done in so able a manner by his old friend Bro . Duxbury . It was rather late in life for him to enter upon Masonry , and thongh he had often heard exaggerated statements concerning it , yet theso had not been sufficient to deter him from joining . Apart from the very beautiful lessons whioh had been taught that evening , h 9 could fully realize the

fact that a typical Mason mnst necessarily be a good citizen , a good subject of the Queen , and a good man . Bro . Hardcastle , in proposing the health of the Visitors , stated that it had been intended to submit that duty to Bro . TILBURY LODGE , No . 2006 . THE members of the Lodge met on Saturday , 14 th ult ., at tho Royal H' tel , Purfleot , for the last time this season . The W . M . Brother Joseph Brnton P . P . G . D . D . of C . passed Bro . Preston to the degree of Fellow Craft , and raised Bro . Not on . Bro . Walter Buttery S . W . was elected W . M . for the enduing year , Bro . Dndgeon P . M . P . P . G . D . wns re-elected Treasurer , and Bros . Davey and Flack were

elected members of the Permanent Committee . It was decided to have the Lodgo represented at the next festival for the Girls' School , and Bro . Buttery was elected to act as Steward . After tho work of the Lodge was finished , an excellent banquet was provided by mine host , Bro . J . W . Wingrove . On the health of tbe Provincial Grand Master for tho Province of

Essex being proposed by the W . M ., it was most enthusiastically received . The WM . explained how the Province of Essex was to be con . grttalated in having suoh an excellent Master as Lord Brook ** , as , during the time he had presided , Freemasonry bad flouiished in Essex , notwithstanding the depressed state of agriculture . The organisa .

tion that existed with regard to the votes for the Masonio Charities so as to secure siccess to any ESBOX candidate was not to be beaten by any Provinoe in the Kingdom . It was the little Province of Essex that demanded the investigation into the management of the Boys ' School , and when through that inqairy matters were put on a more satisfactory basis the Provincial Grand Master took the ohair this

summer at the Boys' Sohool festival , held at Brighton , and as a proof of the popularity of Lord Brooke among Masons all over the Kingdom , the Bum of £ 23 , 000 was raised on that occasion for the charity . Bro . Dudgeon responded for the Province , and proposed the W . M . ' s health , which was received with cheer ? .

Pnsoall 2090 , in reply , said ho had vifited the Tilbury Lodge several times nnd hoped to come again , at he always felt at homethe right hand of friendship being extended to him by every uiembor of the Lodge from tho W . his encouraging remarks , and said that they were endoavounng to learn their work in tho hopo that when each came to the chair they might emulate t"e example rhoivn by the W . M . OSBORNE LODGE , No . 2160 . fpUE annr . al meeting was held at the Masouio Hall , East Cowes , on i- the 2 nd inst ., when Bro . W . n . Brading , the Sonior Warden of the pa 9 t year , was installed as Worshipfnl Master . The ceremony was carried out with great ability by Bro . H . Deacon P . M . P . G . Std . Bearer . During the transaction of the first part of the business the

chair was occupied by the retiring W . M ., Bro . G . Rogers , whose services were heartily acknowledged by the brethren . Tha newly elected Master invested his Officers . The usual banqnet followed .

ROYAL VICTORIAN JUBILEE LODGE , No . 2184 . A MEETING was held on the 2 Sc ' u ult ., at tho Phoenix Hotel , . Raiuham . The Lodge waa opened and Bro . Eaton was raised . The main business then took place , Bro . Hammond , the W . M . elect , being presented to the W . M . os a tit candidate for the chair of K . S . Bro . Riugroae , who rcted as Installing Officer , then inducted Bro , Hammond into the chair in a masterlv manner .

The ceremony of installation being ended , Bro . Ringrose was presented with the Past Master ' s j : wei , and the auditor ' s report having been passed , the Lodge was closed . The banquet was admirably served by tho host , Brc \ Joyce , after which the usual toasts were proposed .
