ROSE OF LANCASTER LODGE , No . 2325 . THE annual festival was held in the Masonic Buildings , Lord Street , Southport , on Thursday , 18 th ult ., when Bro . Henry Peak was installed as Worshipful Master by Bro . W . A . Tidswell W . M ., assisted by Bro . W . J . Worden P . P . D . G . E ., and Bro . William Piatt P . P . G . Treas .

ALBERT VICTOR LODGE , No . 2328 . THE annual installation meeting was held on Tuesday , 23 rd ult ., at the Freemasons' Hall , St . Saviourgate , York , when Bro . James Blelrose , J . P ., of Clifton Croft , was installed in the chair . There was a full attendance of members of the Lodge , including the outgoing Master Bro . 0 . Turner and his Officers . The ceremony of installation was performed by Bro . T . B . Whytehead P . M ., who was assisted by the Dean of York P . G . C , and others . Bro . T . B . Whytehead P . M . P . G . S . B . was elected Charity Eepresentative .

The annual dinner took place at the Station Hotel . Owing to the sudden indisposition of Mrs . Melrose the W . M . was not able to be present , and the chair was taken by Bro . Whytehead , who was supported by the Brethren of the Lodge , as well as visitors from Lodges in York , Leeds , Middlesbrough , Scarborough , & c . Music was supplied by the Minster Quartette , and the usual Masonic toasts were honoured , including " the memory of Prince Albert Victor , the Founder of the Lodge . "

MINNEHAHA MINSTREL LODGE , No . 2363 . THE regular meeting was held at the Victoria Hotel , Manchester , on Monday , 22 nd ult ., Bro . Edwin A . Smith W . M . The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed , and ono of the ancient

charges rendered by Bro . F . W . Wollaston P . M . P . P . G . A . D . C Chaplain , a successful ballot was taken for Mr . William Cowley Grundy , accountant , Crumpsall , who was afterwards initiated by the W . M ., assisted by Bro . Thos . Hamnett S . W ., who delivered the charge of the degree , and also presented and explained the working tools to the candidate .

The festive board succeeded , a pleasant evening's programme being contributed to by Bros . Hamnett S . W ., Sam Luke J . W ., Cyril H . Beever P . M . Secretary , S . H . Stubbs S . D ., Seth Wrigley P . M . P . G . J . D . D . C , Henry Nail P . M . P . P . G . Tr . ( W . L . ) , T . O . Rogerson S . D . 357 , E . Eoberts P . M . 1459 , and others .

TRISTRAM LODGE , No . 2415 . ON the 25 th ult ., Bro . Israel Spaven was installed in the chair by Bro . J . Barnet P . M . P . P . G . Standard Bearer , assisted by Bro . J . Henderson W . M . The Lodge being closed , the W . M . and Brethren celebrated the festival of St . John the Evangelist . Masonic toast and sentiment wound up the evening ' s proceedings .

KINGSLEY LODGE , No . 2431 . BETWEEN sixty and seventy Brethren assembled at the Masonic Hall , Northampton , on Friday , 26 th ult ., on the occasion of the installation of Bro . J . O . Bailey P . Prov . G . Std . as the sixth Worshipful Master of the Lodge in succession to Bro . J . J . Errington Prov . G . Std . Br . After the transaction of the routine business Bro . T . Emery , who had acted as Secretary of the Lodge from its consecration , was presented by tbe Worshipful Master , on behalf of the Brethren of the Lodge , with a Secretary's jewel , and made a most suitable reply to the presentation .

The Worshipful Master-elect Bro . 3 . O . Bailey having been obligated , the installation ceremony was then admirably carried out by Bro . J . Currall P . M . Subsequently the newly-elected Worshipful Master appointed and invested his Officers for the ensuing year . The new W . M . presented the retiring Master Bro . J . J . Errington with a Past Master ' s jewel , the reception of whioh Bro . Errington briefly acknowledged .

The Brethren afterwards sat down to an excellent banquet in the lower room of the Hall . After the Loyal toasts that of the Provincial Officers was given , to which the Deputy Provincial Grand Master aptly replied . He remarked upon the progress of Masonry in the Province since the appointment of Earl Euston

as Provincial Grand Master . In January next , he was pleased to say , a new Lodge would be consecrated at St . Ives , and he hoped that all the members of Provincial Lodge would be able to be present . He incidentally said that since the Kingsley Lodge had been consecrated , some six years ago , 200 other Lodges had been consecrated , and that , he thought , showed the great progress Masonry was making in the country .

Bro . G . Butcher was entrusted with the toast of the Worshipful Master of the Kingsley Lodge . In proposing it , he said it was his pleasure to initiate Bro . Bailey as a Mason some eleven years since , and he was proud of that fact , as the Worshipful Master had done good work , whether in the Lodge of Instruction or in ordinary Lodge . He wished Bro . Bailey might be blessed with health and strength to carry out the duties of his office , which he felt sure he would do with credit to himself and also to the Lodge . The toast was most heartily drunk .

The Worshipful Master ; who was very warmly received , said he felt very proud when he was initiated a Mason , and he felt even more proud that evening at having been raised to the chair of the Kingsley Lodge . When initiated by Bro . Butcher , who was Worshipful Master of the Eleanor Cross Lodge , he said he made up his mind to endeavour to reach a similar position , and he was gratified at having done so . When he entered into Masonry he

did so with the determination to go thoroughly into it , and he believed he had done so . He had only missed two meetings of his Mother Lodge , and as one of the founders of the Kingsley Lodge he had never missed a meeting . He thanked the members of the sister Lodges of the town , and also those from a distance , for attending to support him , and he hoped he should carry out the duties of the office to the satisfaction of all .

Bro . the Rev . Geo . Chappell proposed the Past Masters , with special mention of the I . P . M . Bro . Errington . He was one of the first three initiates of tho Lodge , and had served as Chaplain uuder each of the Masters . The Lodge had laid a good foundation , under the Mastership of such capable

veterans in Masonry as Bros . Butcher , G . Ellard , and Currall . Bro . Vials had built soundly and well on the foundation they had laid , and Bro . Errington had worthily carried on that work . Bro . Errington paid a tribute of praise to tho work of his predecessors , and said that the courtesy , kindness , and consideration which had bean accorded him had made his year of office a very happy one .

Bro . Hodges gave the Masonic charities , and Bro . Ellard , replying , thanked the Brethren for the hearty support they had given the charities , and said the Kingsley Lodge , considering the time of its existence , had already reached a high position . He sketched out a new scheme which had been framed with the object of still further enlarging the scope of their sympathetic support .

DUKE OF YORK LODGE , No . 2453 . AT the last monthly meeting , held at Cardiff , on Tuesday , 16 th ult ., under the presidency of Bro . Ferrier , Bro . Badley Immediate Past Master was presented with a handsomely framed portrait of his Officers , the presentation being made by Bro . J . Stansfield , while Bro . C E . Dovey was presented with a cabinet liqueur stand by the Founders of the Lodge , he having been the first Master , the presentation in this instance being made by Bro . Radley .

ROYAL JUBILEE LODGE , No . 72 . THE members held an emergency meeting on Tuesday , 30 th ult ., to transact business in order to leave the summons paper clear for the ladies' night the following Monday , Bro . W . Smith W . M . presiding . Tha first business was to raise Bro . Miles , and also , by special dispensation , J . B . -Essuman Gwira , H . Vroom , and A . Duke Essien , of the Broxbourne Lodge , who were departing , for the Cape . Bros . J . Dixon , Avery , aud Brook were then passed , and Mr . Henry Scullard , of Southampton , initiated .

Bro . E . Walker P . M . was elected an Honorary Member of the Lodge . The Worshipful Master having intimated that he would go up as a Steward for the Boys School next year , fifteen guineas was voted to his list . Five guineas was voted to the list of Bro . Cohen S . D ., who goes up as Steward for the R . M . B . I . for Aged Freemasons . On the motion of Bro . F . Dunn P . M ., it was resolved to present Bro . VV . Smith W . M . with a Past Master ' s jewel on the completion of his year of office .

LA TOLERANCE LODGE , No . 538 . A VERY agreeable termination to a historic day was our visit to this fine old Lodge on the evening of the 2 nd inst ., when the members , several of whom had attended the Masonio Service at St . Paul's Cathedral , assembled at the Freemasons' Hall , Great Queen Street , W . C , for the purpose , of electing a new Master for the ensuing year . Bro . Guillermo T .

Augspurg W . M . presided , and was supported by his Officers : —Bros . T . H . Clear S . W ., T . A . Tidy J . W ., James Kench P . M . P . G . P . England Treasurer , Thomas W . Smale P . M , Secretary , S . J . Cross S . D ., G . A . Sturgess J . D ., R . Hopf I . G ., Fred Cambridge P . M . Prov . G . Organist , H . T . Hipwell D . C , W . M . Clear P . M ., Walter Hooker P . M ., Sec .

The Lodge was opened in due form , after which the minutes were read and confirmed . Mr . Herbert Rivett , having been already proposed and approved , being in attendance , was admitted and regularly initiated into the mysteries and privileges of thc Order , by Bro . Augspurg , who performed the ceremony in an altogether admirable manner , and gave thc ancient charge to the Initiate at its conclusion .

Tho Brethren then proceeded to ballot for the succeeding Master , with the result that Bro . Thomas H . Clear S . W . was unanimously elected to that position . Upon the fact being intimated to him by Bro . Augspurg the Worshipful Master-elect returned thanks for the honour conferred upon him .

With equal unanimity Bro . P . M . Kench was re-elected as Treasurer , which office he has now filled for upwards of thirty years . By a show of hands Bro . T . Bowler was re-appointed Tyler of the Lodge . Bros . Pipwell and Cummings were elected Auditors , and it was decided to go through the Lodge accounts at an early date .

In graceful terms Bro . Kench referred to the excellent service rendered to the Lodge by Bro . Augspurg , and proposed that the Past Master ' s jewel be presented to him as a mark of their appreciation , upon his retirement from the chair . The proposition was seconded by Bro . P . M . Clear , and carried with much applause .

This concluding the business of the evening the Lodge was closed in perfect harmony , and the Brethren adjourned to a recherche little dinner at the Freemasons' Tavern . A very pleasant evening followed , the customary complimentary speeches being interspersed with some capital songs by Miss Ethel Winn , Miss Agnes Bearfield , Bro . Arthur Barry , and Mr . Henry Stockwell , while Bro . Cambridge kindly officiated at the piano .

KENSINGTON LODGE , No . 1767 . UNDER tho presidency of Bro . 3 . Rumbal W . M . the regular meeting was held on Saturday , 20 th ult ., at the Royal Palace Hotel , Kensington . The business of the evening included the passing of Bros . Shepherd , Goring , Mclvor , and . Darby ; the initiation of two gentlemen ; and the reception of two joining members .

The Brethren afterwards adjourned to dinner , when the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured .

PIMLICO LODGE , No . 1772 . BRO . FRED HIGHAM was duly installed Worshipful Master on Thursday , 2 nd inst ., at the Holborn Restaurant , in the beautiful Masonic Temple that is such a handsome feature in the new wing . The proceedings were characterised by dignity and an elevated tone that did immense credit to the new Master , who was heartily congratulated . Bro . Will Oliver , whose year of office had just concluded , was presented with a Past Master ' s jewel .

This concluding the business of the evening the Lodge was closed in perfect harmony , and the Brethren adjourned to a recherche little dinner at the Freemasons' Tavern . A very pleasant evening followed , the customary complimentary speeches being interspersed with some capital songs by Miss Ethel Winn , Miss Agnes Bearfield , Bro . Arthur Barry , and Mr . Henry Stockwell , while Bro . Cambridge kindly officiated at the piano .

KENSINGTON LODGE , No . 1767 . UNDER tho presidency of Bro . 3 . Rumbal W . M . the regular meeting was held on Saturday , 20 th ult ., at the Royal Palace Hotel , Kensington . The business of the evening included the passing of Bros . Shepherd , Goring , Mclvor , and . Darby ; the initiation of two gentlemen ; and the reception of two joining members .

The Brethren afterwards adjourned to dinner , when the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured .

PIMLICO LODGE , No . 1772 . BRO . FRED HIGHAM was duly installed Worshipful Master on Thursday , 2 nd inst ., at the Holborn Restaurant , in the beautiful Masonic Temple that is such a handsome feature in the new wing . The proceedings were characterised by dignity and an elevated tone that did immense credit to the new Master , who was heartily congratulated . Bro . Will Oliver , whose year of office had just concluded , was presented with a Past Master ' s jewel .
