Reports Of Meetings.

Bro . Walter J . W . Beard was re-eleotad Treasurer , and Bro . P . M . Ellis was re-appointed Tyler . The Audit Committee was directed to prepare the Accounts of the Lodge , and Balance Sheet , previous to the next meeting . Bro . Beard proposed that a Past Master ' s jewel , of a new and appropriate design , should be voted to Bro . Hooper , in recognition of his distinguished services to the Lodge , whioh was carried with acclamation .

Bro . Alfred Ellis offered to photograph the members of the Lodge free of expense , for the purpose of filling the magnificent album presented by Bro . Thomson Lyon . Bro . Hooper announced that owing to the generosity of the Brethren he had been enabled to take up a Steward ' s List of subscriptions at the " Old People ' s" Festival amounting to £ 110 , which ranked among the seven highest contributions , whereat the Brethren eipressed their gratification .

The W . M . having received the congratulations of the Visitors , the Lodge was closed in perfect harmony , and tue company adjourned to the banquet room , where a very delectable repast was provided by Bro . Oddinino ,-whose menu card was original , eccentric , and witty . The evening was passed in good fellowship , enlivened with a capital musical programme provided by Bro . James Kift , who was assisted by Bros . Harrison Brockbank , Wills Page , Wallis Arthur , F . A . C . Snell , and D . Salaman .

ALLEY N LODGE , No . 2647 . A LARGE muster of Brethren and visitors assembled on Saturday , 26 th ult ., at the Crown and Greyhound Hotel , Dulwich , to take part in the installation of Bro . G . W . Capel , F . R . G . S ., as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year . The occasion was one of special interest , as the ceremony took place in the magnificently-decorated Masonic Temple which has been erected in this newly-built Hotel , and which was now used for the first time .

Previous to the installation ceremony , Messrs . C . L . Lechmere and A . Browne were initiated as members , Bro . C . J . Axford working the ceremony . He then proceeded to instal Bro . Capel as W . M ., and performed his duties in a very impressive manner throughout . A Past Master ' s jewel was presented to Bro . Axford , in recognition of his services during his year of office .

The Brethren then adjourned to the banqueting hall , and during a wellserved dinner—supplied by Bro . G . H . Groutage , the courteous manager of the hotel—a capital selection of music was performed by an efficient orchestra , under the able direction of Bro . J . Read . The toast of the Worshipful Master was very heartily received by the company , and Bro . Capel , in a very felicitous speech , responded , thanking the Brethren for tho kind feelings expressed towards him .

The W . M . then proposed the health of the I . P . M . and Installing Master , and in doing so referred to the very great services Bro . Axford had rendered to the Alleyn Lodge as its originator and first Master . Bro . Axford replied in feeling terms , heartily wishing that the Alleyn Lodge might continue to prosper in the years to come .

Haylock appears to have an excellent knowledge of the ritual , and is a very good Preceptor . The Lodge affords a good opportunity for practice on the part of Brethren wishing to perfect themselves .

After formalities Bro . Martyn was examined and entrusted . Lodge was advanced , and the ceremony of passing was gone through . This was followed by a rehearsal of the third degree , the work throughout being very satisfactory . Bro . Darch gave the traditional history and explanation of the tracing board , in a way—we need hardly say—that was really perfect ; it would certainly be a difficult matter to find a better Preceptor than he . Bro . C . West was elected Worshipful Master for Wednesday next .

VIRTUE LODGE , No . 152 . fjlHE annual meeting and Festival of St . John took place at the I Freemasons' Hall , Cooper Street , Manchester , on Friday , the 18 th ult ., Bro . R . A . Kinder W . M . The principal business was that of installing Bro . George Wragge S . W . into the chair of K . S . The ceremony was undertaken by the retiring Master ,

who performed his work in a most satisfactory manner . He was assisted by Past Masters John Crompton , who presented and explained the working tools of the various degrees ; D . Conway , who rendered the address to the Master ; Rev . John Watson Chap . P . P . G . C , who addressed the Wardens ; and G . C . Williams , who addressed the Brethren generally . Bro . Wm . Jaffrey P . M . P . P . J . G . D . invested the following Officers , who were appointed for the

The Festival of St . John must be regarded as eminently a success , both as regards the excellent banquet provided by Miss Brandon ( of the Hall ) , the large muster of members and visitors , and the superior quality of the speeches evoked by various Loyal and Masonio toasts . The preparers of the

musical programme must be congratulated upon their selection of the Abbey Singers , consisting of Bros . Kershaw , Blacow , Howarth , and Maltby , who were frequently in evidence , while we must not omit mentioning the pleasing effort of Bro . Compton , who sang " Here ' s to his health , " as also the admirable pianoforte solo of Bro . J . H . Yates J . W .

During the evening Bro . Jaffrey , in a neat and telling speech , presented to the I . P . M . ; on behalf of the Lodge , a very handsome jewel , which bore the following inscription : —

ROYAL YORK LODGE , No . 315 . THE annual installation meeting was held at the Royal Pavilion , Brighton , on the 1 st inst ., when there was a large attendance . The Lolge was opened by the W . M . Bro . George Bungard . The chief business of the meeting was the installation of Bro ' . W . E . Nash as W . M . for the ensuing year , the ceremony being ably performed by the retiring W . M . Bro . George Bungard .

On behalf of the Brethren of the Lodge the W . M . presented Bro . Bungard with a Past Master ' s gold jewel , in appreciation of the admirable manner in which he had carried on the duties of his office during the past year . On the closing of the Lodge the Brethren adjourned to the Banqueting

Room , where th & y sat down to an elegant banquet . Bro . Bungard I . P . M . gave the toast of the Worshipful Master . He said he had known Bro . Nash for several years , and fully realised his great earnestness and his intense desire to succeed in the Lodge . He was confident that Bro . Nash during his year of office would strive to inculcate the true Masonic principles of brotherly

M . was appointed Charity Representative .

The Festival of St . John must be regarded as eminently a success , both as regards the excellent banquet provided by Miss Brandon ( of the Hall ) , the large muster of members and visitors , and the superior quality of the speeches evoked by various Loyal and Masonio toasts . The preparers of the

musical programme must be congratulated upon their selection of the Abbey Singers , consisting of Bros . Kershaw , Blacow , Howarth , and Maltby , who were frequently in evidence , while we must not omit mentioning the pleasing effort of Bro . Compton , who sang " Here ' s to his health , " as also the admirable pianoforte solo of Bro . J . H . Yates J . W .

During the evening Bro . Jaffrey , in a neat and telling speech , presented to the I . P . M . ; on behalf of the Lodge , a very handsome jewel , which bore the following inscription : —

Presented to Bro . R . A . KINDBB P . M ., by the Brethren of the Virtue Lodge , No . 152 , in recognition of his services as W . M ., 1897-8 . February 18 th , 1898 . Bro . Kinder I . P . M . replied in appropriate terms .

ROYAL YORK LODGE , No . 315 . THE annual installation meeting was held at the Royal Pavilion , Brighton , on the 1 st inst ., when there was a large attendance . The Lolge was opened by the W . M . Bro . George Bungard . The chief business of the meeting was the installation of Bro ' . W . E . Nash as W . M . for the ensuing year , the ceremony being ably performed by the retiring W . M . Bro . George Bungard .

On behalf of the Brethren of the Lodge the W . M . presented Bro . Bungard with a Past Master ' s gold jewel , in appreciation of the admirable manner in which he had carried on the duties of his office during the past year . On the closing of the Lodge the Brethren adjourned to the Banqueting

Room , where th & y sat down to an elegant banquet . Bro . Bungard I . P . M . gave the toast of the Worshipful Master . He said he had known Bro . Nash for several years , and fully realised his great earnestness and his intense desire to succeed in the Lodge . He was confident that Bro . Nash during his year of office would strive to inculcate the true Masonic principles of brotherly
