supplied by Bro . Sayors , of Western Road . Tho W . M . Bro . W . Gill presided , and was supported by tho Past Masters nnd the Provincial Grand Officers . The usual Masonio toasts wero honoured . The W . M . proposed tho Officers of the Provincial Grand Lodgo Present and Past . He said thoy had present with them a worthy representa . tivo of tho Provincial Grand Lodge in Bro . R . Clowes , the Senior

Grand Warden—ono whose geniality and sterling abilities had won him tho esteem of all Freemasons in Sussex . Bro . Clowes , in acknowledging the tonst , thanked those present for tho cordial manner in which thoy had received the kind remarks of the W . M , Speaking of the Government of the Province , ho alluded to the interest the Duke of Connaught had taken in Sussex Freemasonry

when absent in India , and now that he had returned it was hoped he would visit the Province in the autumn . The Deputy Provincial Grand Master Sir W . T . Marriott was unable , from his Parliamentary engagements , to be present , but had written to him ( Bro . Clowes ) wishing the Burrell Lodge every success , and expressing his regret at being absent . Bro . Clowes then proposed the W . M . and the

Burrell Lodge . I ho brethren , it was evident , wero proud , ho said , of their W . M ., and , for his own part , he felt , after the excellent manner in which he had carried out the ceremony that afternoon , that he was one of the best Worshipful Masters in tho Province . He ( Bro . Clowes ) heartily welcomed the Burroll Lodge to Brighton . The name of tho Lodge reminded them of one who had groatly

advanced Freomasonry , nDd the brethren would be interested to know that Bro . C . J . Corder , who was present , had initiated the lato Sir Walter Burrell into Freemasonry . The Brighton Lodges wished the Bnrrcll Lodge every success , and he trusted its members would introduce into their midst none b it true and trusty brethren . Tho W . M ., on rising to respond , was warmly received . He alluded to the growth

of the Lodge and the inconvenience it experienced at Shoreham from lack of accommodation . They were reluctant to leave their old quarters , though the majority of their brethren lived at Brighton . It had been rumoured that the Provincial Grand Lodge wonld not grant the change , but such rumours had been groundless . The Lodgo was one of the largest in Sussex . He did net attach the

highest importance to numbers , but was proud to say they did strive to carry out tho principle of Freemasonry . It pave him great pleasure to sec the representatives of i ? o many Lodges of the Province present , and he trusted that emulation , and not rivalry , would always characterise their association with oilier Lodges . Ths W . M . proposed the Visitors , to which Bros . C . J . Corder and J . C Bncktvell

responded . Bro . T . I'acknam next gave tbo Royal Masonic Charitable Institutions , tho toast being acknowledged by Brother A . J . Carpenter . B o . E . New gave the Past Masters , to which Bros . II . Ii . Iligham and T . i ' a"kham responded , the latter peacefully alluding to Bro . Higbnm as the founder of the Lodge . Bro . J . Harrison proposed

the Officers of tho Lodge , Bros . H . Backhaul and E . A . Buchanan responding . The Tyler ' s tonst completed tbo list . supplied by Bro . Sayors , of Western Road . Tho W . M . Bro . W . Gill presided , and was supported by tho Past Masters nnd the Provincial Grand Officers . The usual Masonio toasts wero honoured . The W . M . proposed tho Officers of the Provincial Grand Lodgo Present and Past . He said thoy had present with them a worthy representa . tivo of tho Provincial Grand Lodge in Bro . R . Clowes , the Senior

Grand Warden—ono whose geniality and sterling abilities had won him tho esteem of all Freemasons in Sussex . Bro . Clowes , in acknowledging the tonst , thanked those present for tho cordial manner in which thoy had received the kind remarks of the W . M , Speaking of the Government of the Province , ho alluded to the interest the Duke of Connaught had taken in Sussex Freemasonry

when absent in India , and now that he had returned it was hoped he would visit the Province in the autumn . The Deputy Provincial Grand Master Sir W . T . Marriott was unable , from his Parliamentary engagements , to be present , but had written to him ( Bro . Clowes ) wishing the Burrell Lodge every success , and expressing his regret at being absent . Bro . Clowes then proposed the W . M . and the

Burrell Lodge . I ho brethren , it was evident , wero proud , ho said , of their W . M ., and , for his own part , he felt , after the excellent manner in which he had carried out the ceremony that afternoon , that he was one of the best Worshipful Masters in tho Province . He ( Bro . Clowes ) heartily welcomed the Burroll Lodge to Brighton . The name of tho Lodge reminded them of one who had groatly

advanced Freomasonry , nDd the brethren would be interested to know that Bro . C . J . Corder , who was present , had initiated the lato Sir Walter Burrell into Freemasonry . The Brighton Lodges wished the Bnrrcll Lodge every success , and he trusted its members would introduce into their midst none b it true and trusty brethren . Tho W . M ., on rising to respond , was warmly received . He alluded to the growth

of the Lodge and the inconvenience it experienced at Shoreham from lack of accommodation . They were reluctant to leave their old quarters , though the majority of their brethren lived at Brighton . It had been rumoured that the Provincial Grand Lodge wonld not grant the change , but such rumours had been groundless . The Lodgo was one of the largest in Sussex . He did net attach the

highest importance to numbers , but was proud to say they did strive to carry out tho principle of Freemasonry . It pave him great pleasure to sec the representatives of i ? o many Lodges of the Province present , and he trusted that emulation , and not rivalry , would always characterise their association with oilier Lodges . Ths W . M . proposed the Visitors , to which Bros . C . J . Corder and J . C Bncktvell

responded . Bro . T . I'acknam next gave tbo Royal Masonic Charitable Institutions , tho toast being acknowledged by Brother A . J . Carpenter . B o . E . New gave the Past Masters , to which Bros . THE business meeting of this Lodge was held on Monday , thfl 7 th hint ., in their old and historic building , tho Berrymoad Priory , Aeton . After despatch of Masonic business , the brethren journeyed to Hampton C'tort , where n banquet had be-n prepared by Bro . C . Sadler , of the Mitre Hotel .
