Cookson to act for him on thia occasion , and all those who are acqnaintod with this zealous brother will not be in the least surprised to learn that the dnties were admirably fulfilled . Tho brethren met shortly after six o ' clock , and os is customary partook of tea h . la

fonrchette . The Lodge was opened at 7 ' 15 with solemn prayer , and the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . Mr . Leonard Jagger , who had been balloted for and approved at last meeting , was initiated into the mysteries and privileges of Freemasonry by Bro . James Cookson acting W . M . Brother Taylor P . M . presented and explained the working tools to the candidate , and

Bro . McClellan P . M . P . P . G . D . delivered the E . A . charge . Prior to the Lodge being closed a vote of condolence was passed to Brother Smith S . W ., on account of tho death of his son , aged 20 , and to Brother Howard Secretary , who has recently lost hia only sister . Attention was called to the forthcoming P . G . meeting to be held at Rnncorn , tho latter end of tho present month , and instructions given

to the Secretary to send an agenda paper to each member of the Lodge . There being no further business hearty good wishes wero expressed by the numerous Visitors , and tho Lodge was closed in peace and harmony . At the social board the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured , Bros . Finch , Cheetham , Bladon , and McClellan replying to the toast of the V . W . D . P . G . M . and P . G . Officers . The Initiate was proposed in eulogistic terms by Bro . McClelland , and

heartily drank , after which Bro . Finch P . G . Rsgistrar sang tho E . A . song , tho refrain of which was vigorously taken up by oil present . Bro . Jagger having replied , the toast of the Visitors waa proposed in a humorous speech by Bro . Taylor , and responded to by all the guests . Other toasts , including tho acting W . M . the P . M . 's , & c , were honoured , and a most enjoyable evening terminated shortly before 11 o ' clock .

A REGULAR meeting of this Lodge waa held at the Wheatsheaf Hotel , High Street , on Saturday , tbe Sth inst . Since the last meeting the worthy bust , Bvo . Tom Wood , haa canned a great improvement to be mode for tho accommodation of brethren . He haa purchased , at a considerable cost , some property adjoining the Hotel , and ouverted the same into a handsome dining and social room , capable of beating 120 persons . When lighted up with tbe handsome

chandeliers , each having five hrruera , the room presents a charming coup d ' oiil . Bro .
