other Lodges in the district . The dinner was served at tho Tndno Castle Hotel , and the arrangements were admirably carried ont by Bro . James Lloyd the Secretary of the Lodge .
Under tho presidency of Bro . E . Pierpoint P . P . G J . W ., a meeting of the Committee of the West Lancashire Masonic Educational Institution was held , on the 4 th inst ., at the Masonic Hall , Hope Street , Liverpool , when several children were elected on the foundation of the charity .
A new Masonic Lodge , to bo called tho Wbodsrraiigo Lodge , was opened and consecrated on Thursday , 3 rd in it ., at tho Princess Alice Hotel , Forest Gate . More than 100 brethren were present , and Colonel Shadwell Clorko presided and conducted tlio coroiuouy . Among those
attending were Lord Lathom , the Rev . Dr . Sullivan , Arclubishop of New York , tho llov . J . Brownrigg , Brother Terry , and other prominent Masons . Bro . Archibald Trew , of Romford Kop . d , Stratford , was invested as First . Master A . sumptuous repast was provided by Mr . Councillor Knowler .
When we see au improvement introduced into somo common article cf every day use we are often struck with surprise that the idea had not been thought of and adopted years before , aud wo cannot help the feeling that there is ample room for improvement , no matter in what sphere wo
move . Messrs . Vigor and Co ., of 40 Southampton Row , W . C , are now supplying a " Safety " flight of steps , which should become very popular , as thoy arc specially adapted for nso in the household and among those who , from want of continuous practice , often find themselves unable
to mount an ordinary flight of steps without experiencing a feeling of dissiness . Messrs . Vigor ' s patent , without being more cumbersome than ordinary steps , possesses a hand-rail on either sido when open , and other
improvements have also been introduced rendering them more useful as well aa safer . Wc havo had a flight of the steps in use for somo time pasfc and can personally vouch for their advantages . Thoy aro appreciated by all who suo them .
