Reports Of Meetings.

Bro . Cubttt , in response , said he was pleased to hear the kind remarks of the W . M . Being a member of the Lodge for over thirty years ho know the great advances that had been made . The Officers of the Lodge were noxt toasted , tho W . M . saying ha was sure he had selected the right Brethren , and hoped they would retain tho good opinion of the members of the Lodge .

Bro . Lough responded on behalf of Bro . Fells S . W . Bro . Baillie J . W . highly appreciated the complimant paid him . Other Officers responded . Prior to the call of the Tyler it was felt by a very large number of thoae present that distance from home necessitated a much too early termination to one of the most enjoyable meetings held in connection with this popular Lodge .

An excellent programme of music was provided by and under th » able direction of Bro . E . H . Lough the talented Organist of the Lodge .

Bro . John Wyatt Simeons was initiated into Freemasonry in the Confidence Lodge , on 10 th October 1892 , and has served the o ' fficn of Innar Guard , Junior and Senior Deacon , and Junior and Senior Warden . He was exalted into tbe Royal Arch Degree in the Fellowship Chanter , No . 2535 , on

7 th December 1896 . For the past six years he has acted as Secretary of the Woodrow Lodge of Instruction , No . 1708 , of which he was one of the founders . He has served six Stewardships on behalf of the Masonic Institutions , and done much to advance their interests among his fellows—a worthy Mason he , in every sense of the word .

ST . MICHAEL LODGE , No . 311 . AT the meeting of this Lodge , held at the Albion , Aldersgate Street , E . G ., on Tuesday , Bro . F . W . Berry was elected as W . M . for the ensuing year , and Bro . A . B . Spawforth was chosen as Treasurer in succession to Bro . Alfred Green , who has been compelled to resign the position , held for many years , in consequence of ill health . The installation will take place on 13 th February .

PROVINCIAL .

SCIENTIFIC LODGE , No . 88 . rpHE installation meeting of this Lodge , which is now 146 years old , took JL place at the Lion Hotel , Cambridge , on Monday , 8 th inst ., when Bro . Frederick John Moden was installed as W . M ., in succession to Bro . H . S .

Davison . The large attendance included Bro . Colonel R . Townley Caldwell Provincial Grand Master of Cambridgeshire , Sir J . E . Gorst , M . P ., Past Grand Junior Warden of England ( who was initiated in the Scientific Lodge manv years ago ) , and Bro . McKay Past Grand Sword Bearer of England .

The ceremony of installation was performed by Bro . H . S . Davison W . M ., while Bro . Frank Piggott P . P . J . G . W . did the proclamation and working tools , and Bro . J . H . Moyea P . P . G . S . B . gave the charges .

SUN LODGE , No . 106 .. THE installation meeting was held at Exmouth , on Monday , 8 th inst ., when Bro . H . W . Crews was installed by Bro . W . H . Perry P . P . G . D . D . C . The banquet was subsequentl y held at the Imperial Hotel .

MARQUIS OF GRANBY LODGE , No . 124 . ON the 2 nd inst . there was ft large attendance at the Masonic Hall , Old Elvet , Durham , on the occasion of the installation of Bro . J . Rickerby S . W . who was supported , in addition to the members of the Marquis of Granby , by a number of visiting Brethren from other Lodges in the Province . The ceremony of installation was very ably performed by the retiring W . M * Bro . A . Hollingworth .

At the conclusion of the business the Brethren adjourned to the banqueting hall , where refreshments were served and tho usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were heartily drunk , several of the Brethren present contributing to the harmony of the evening .

ST . PETER LODGE , No , 419 . AT the Star and Garter Hotel , Wolverhampton , on Thursday , 4 th inst ., the installation took place of Bro . Sidney Dean as Worshipful Master Amongst those present were the Installing Master Bro . John N . Lester , the W . M . s of Honour , Tudor , Noah ' s Ark . and Staffordshire Knot T ™ Ws «« a

, other distinguished Brethren of Provincial and sister Lodges . A banquet was partaken of , the company numbering about seventy Selections of music were excellently rendered by the Brethren of the Lodge .

ROYAL NAVY LODGE , No . 429 . THE annual installation meeting was held at the Royal Hotel , Rarns ° ate on Wednesday , 3 rd inst ., when Bro . A . H . Hale was installed as W M * for the ensuing year . A banquet was held afterwards and was served in Bro ' Roach ' s usual excellent style ;

The Lodge was opened with solemn prayer in tbe first , second and third degrees respectively , and the Worshipful Master-elect Bro . H . 7 U . Hodgson S . W . duly obligated , his brother , Alderman R . Hodgson P . M . 448 presenting to him the tools of a Worshipful Master . All below the rank of installed Master retired while Bro . Hodgson was installed W . M . of the Lodge . On reentering the Brethren saluted tho new occupant of the Chair in the usual

The Lodge was closed in peace and harmony at 6 . 30 p . m ., after which the Brethren celebrated the festival of St . John . After a most excellent menu had been done thorough justice to the toast list was dealt with . Bro . Hodgson proposed the Quean and the Prince of Wales , and also gave the Provincial Grind M * st"r of West Yorkshire the Rt . Hon . W . L . Jackson . M . P ., P . G . D ., and Officers of Provincial Grand Lodge present and past , to which Bros . RobortshA ' . v and Law responded .

The next toast was entrusted to the Immediate Past Master , and needless to say it was received with loud and continued cheers amid full Masonic honours . This was the toast of Bro . H . E . Hodgson Worshipful Master of the Zetland Lodge . In replying , the W . M . said that since his initiation some ten years ago in No . 448 Halifax , he had taken the greatest interest in the Art . The acme

of his ambition at the commencement was to be Worshipful Master , and the Brethren who had placed him in that proud and responsible position might at all times rest assured that he would do his duty , and that they would never regret electing him Master of 603 . He thanked Bro . Thornton for the kind manner he had spoken of him , and trusted that all his eulogistic prophecies might come to pass . Olher toasts were the Installing Masters , the I . P . M . and Past Masters ,

the visiting Brethren , the Officers of Zetland Lodge , the Masonic Charities , and the Tyler's toast . Many Brethren during tho evening gave songs and recitations , which met with hearty approval . Bro . Kemp gave "The Absent-Minded Beggar , ''Bro . Harsley " The Rale Ould Oirish Gintlemann , " P . M . Waddington sang in fine style " The Death of Nelson , " and was deservedly applauded , Bro . Clough and Bro . Holden acted as accompanists .

Bro . Hanson , of Halifax , rendered service , and in addition to other songs gave " Under the circumstances " in a most jovial and spirited manner , introducing a special verse which , literally speaking , " brought down " the Lodge . The verse was as follows : —

Wo are met to-night as you re aware Under certain circumstances- — To welcome Brother Hodgson in the chair Under the circumstances : ' As W . M . of 6 0 3 , A better Brother there could not be , And a Happy Year we trust he'll see

Under the circumstances ! Never once during the evening did the fun flag—all went merry as a wedding bell , everyone kept within due bounds , and each Brother went home feeling thoroughly convinced that he had bad his due , looking forward with eager anticipation in the near future to another visit to 603 .

HAULEY LODGE , No . 797 . AT the annual meeting , held at Dartmouth , on Monday , 8 th inst ., Bro . Edmund Piko S . W . was ably installed as , W . M . for tbe ensuing year by Bro . W . R . Wedlake W . M ., assisted by Bro . J . Conroy OMrieve Prov .

G . A . D . C . Tbe banquet was afterwards held at Bro . Underwood ' s Commercial Hotel , where the W . M ., instead of placing champagne on the table , announced that he contributed five guineas to the Fortescuo Annuity Fund .

EARL OF DURHAM LODGE , No . 1274 . AT the regular meeting on Wednesday , 3 rd inst ., at Chester-le-Street , the chief business was the installation of Bro . S . Shepherd S . W ., the ceremony of installation being impressively performed by Bro . F . Bolam W . M ., assisted by Bro . Legg P . M . P . P . G . St . B . The festival of St . John the Evangelist was afterwards hold at the King ' s Head Hotel , when Bro . Lamb P . M . provided a substantial banquot . About sixty Brethren sat down .

CHRISTOPHER LODGE , No . 2309 . THIS Lodge mat at tho Christopher Hotel , Eton , on the 8 th inst . In the unavoidable absence of the W . M . Bro . E . D . Everard , who was detained on business in the Isle of Wight , Bro . R . J . Manlove P . M . presided .

G . A . D . C . Tbe banquet was afterwards held at Bro . Underwood ' s Commercial Hotel , where the W . M ., instead of placing champagne on the table , announced that he contributed five guineas to the Fortescuo Annuity Fund .

EARL OF DURHAM LODGE , No . 1274 . AT the regular meeting on Wednesday , 3 rd inst ., at Chester-le-Street , the chief business was the installation of Bro . S . Shepherd S . W ., the ceremony of installation being impressively performed by Bro . F . Bolam W . M ., assisted by Bro . Legg P . M . P . P . G . St . B . The festival of St . John the Evangelist was afterwards hold at the King ' s Head Hotel , when Bro . Lamb P . M . provided a substantial banquot . About sixty Brethren sat down .
