REPORTS OF MEETINGS .

We shall be pleased to receive particulars of Masonic meetings for insertion in our columns , and where desired will endeavour to send a representative to report Lodge or other proceedings .

CRAFT : METROPOLITAN

ST . MICHAEL LODGE , No . 211 . THE 102 nd anniversary of this excellent Lodge was celebrated on Tuesday , at the Albion , Aldersgate Street , E . G ., when Bro . Arthur B . Spawforth , having been •re-elected , was installed for the second time Master of the Lodge . After the minutes of the previous meeting had been read and confirmed , Bro . Dudley * F . Latham answered the usual questions and was subsequently passed to the degree of a Fellow Craft . The ceremony , including the full explanation of the working tools , was perfectly rendered by the Worshipful Master , greatly to his credit and the satisfaction of the Brethren .

The chair was then taken by Brother George Cockrell I . P . M ., and the Brethren retired . A Board of Installed Masters was formed , and Bro . Spawforth was re-inducted into the Master's chair . Upon the admission of the Brethren , Bro . Spawforth was duly saluted , and invested his Officers as follow : —Albert H . Collings S . W ., Ernest C . Collings J . W ., Alfred Green P . M . Treasurer , William Radcliffe P . M . Secretary , W . W . Colley S . D ., Fredk . W . Berry J . D ., F . G . Johnson I . G ., Orlton Cooper P . M . D . C , Albert Usher Organist , Howard E . Mullins Steward , and T . Barnes Tyler .

Bros . H . Cross , W . M . Sutton , and C . T . Pinnell were appointed on the General Purposes Committee of tbe Lodge . The addresses were then delivered by Bro . Cockrell , and elicited the hearty approval of those present . Brother Colley proposed that in order to commemorate Her Majesty ' s Diamond Jubilee , the Grand Master be approached with a view to inaugurate a special Masonic Fund for the relief of the Metropolitan Hospitals . This was Seconded by Bro . G . L . Brightling , and carried . The Secretary was thereupon directed to write to the Grand Secretary on the subject . ¦ '

Bro . W . J . Dyer P . M . presented the Charity box , previously promised by him , and received tho thanks of the Lodge for this very useful article . The box was : afterward * " christened" with a goodly sum , which will form a nucleus of the Lodge Benevolent Fund . There being no other business the Lodge was closed in perfect harmony , and the company adjourned to the banquet room , where a choice repast was served in Bro . W . G . London * s best style .

The musical entertainment was given under the direction of Bro . John Collings , assisted by Miss Isabel Constantine , Miss Florence Daly , and Bros . Sergeant Lee , George Robins , Charles Tree , and Sydney Tower . Needless to say a very pleasant evening was spent .

ST . LEONARD LODGE , No . 1766 . THE annual festival of this Lodge . took place on the 10 th inst ., at the Great Eastern Hotel , Liverpool Street , E . C . The Brethren assembled at four o ' clock on account of there being rather a large amount of work . Bro . George Bishop W . M . presided , being assisted by his Officers and the following Brethren : —William Shurmur P . Prov . G . T . Essex , Joseph Cox P . M ., S . G . Kaufman P . M ., W . ' Prevost , Hy . J . Thrower P . M ., J . A . Jones P . M .,

The Lodge was duly opened , and the minutes of the last meeting read and confirmed , after which Bros . Sidney Cunnington , John Morris , and Walton Hardy , the latter an initiate from the Walthamstow Lodge , answered the questions leading to the second degree and were subsequently passed into the Fellow Craft Lodge . The ceremony was admirably worked by Bro . Bishop , who gave the explanation of the working tools at length .

The ballot was then taken and proved unanimous in favour of Mr . Joseph Henry Bond , of Norwood , who , being in attendance , was admitted and regularly initiated into the mysteries and privileges of the Order . This ceremony was also rendered in a perfect manner by Bro . Bishop . The next business was the installation of the Worshi pful Master for the ensuing twelve months . Bro . Benjamin Jacobs , elected at tbe previous meeting , was presented by Bro . S . G . Kaufman P . M . and took the customary

obligation . The Master Masons having retired , a Board of Installed Masters was formed , when Bro . Jacobs was duly installed in the chair of K . S . according to ancient custom . Upon tho re-admission of the Brethren the new Master was proclaimed and saluted . He then proceeded to invest his Officers for the year , viz . : —Bros . G . H . Clark S . W ., A . Cunnington J . W ., S . C . Kaufman P . M . Treasurer , William Shurmur P . M . Secretary , S . A . Matthews S . D ., A . Kaufman J . D ., A . Greenwood I . G ., W . B . Johnson D . After the addresses had been delivered by Bro . Bishop , the Master rose for the usual times and received the hearty congratulations of the visitors . The resignation oi P . M . Bro . Drysdale was ' received with regret , and upon a resolution of the Lodge ho was voted an Honorary member , so that he might visit the Brethren whenever he pleased . Bro . Batchelor P . M . proposed that as some slight recognition of the

long service of Bro . Joseph Cox , the late Secretary ; a jewel of some value should be presented to him upon his resignation of the position . The proposal was warmly supported , and it was further resolved that he be elected an . Honorary Member of the Lodge . Bro . Cox modestly returned thanks , and stated that he had been connected with the Lod ge from its very inception , and resigned with much regret , but in consequence of hismany duties he was compelled to ask to be relieved .

, This brought the business to a happy termination , and the Lodge was closed in perfect harmony . After ah excellent " banquet the usual post prandial proceedings took place , and a very handsome Past Master ' s jewel was presented to Bro . Bishop I . P . M . for his services . The musical programme was under the direction of Bro . Henry Prenton , wbo was assisted by Miss Mary Spicer , Miss Lilian Buckley , Bro . W . H . Noel , and others .

KENSINGTON LODGE , No . 1767 . AN ordinary meeting of this popular and successful Lodge was held at the Royal Palace Hotel , on Saturday , 16 th ult . Bros . J . Glynn , Green , and S . M . Jones were raised to the degree of M . M . Bros . J . H . Hockey and F . Broomsgrove . were passed to the second degree , and Messrs . A . H . Proetor-and A . F . Shepherd wereinitiatedj the ceremonies , including the traditional history and the ancient charge , being rendered in a very efficient and impressive manner .

The W . M . having announced that the Freemasonj of the country were raising 1 , 000 guineas to endow a bed at Guy ' s Hospital , the Brethren unanimously voted a donation towards the movement . Hearty good wishes having been given , the Lodge was closed in peace and harmony . Bro . A . J . Turner W . M . presided at the dinner , wnich was attended by oyer sixty Brethren . The usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed

and received in the cordial manner characteristic of the Lodge , and the Brethren and their visitors were delighted with the musical programme which had been ' arranged by Bro . F . J . Oliver P . M . Organist . Bros . C . Ortner , j . Ortner , J . Wiggins , and F . Norman sang in their usual excellent manner , and the Brethren separated after spending a most instructive and enjoyable evening . •. - .. -, ¦

DRURY LANE LODGE / No . 2127 . ' THE annual meeting for the installation of Worshipful Master was held on Tuesday , 9 th inst ,, at Mark Masons' Hall , but , by a curious mixture of circumstances , no installation took place . The Worshipful Master-elect had , since his election , gone to South Africa ; a new Master could not be

elected and installed until April , in which case at this time next year ; not having served the office for a year , he would not be entitled to rank as a Past Master , therefore , the Brethren chose the present Master to serve the office for another year . Bro . Henry Neville , who is that Brother , was not able to be present , and no re-installation took place .

Bro . Oscar Barrett P . M . presided , and the Officers appointed were Bros . G . M . Maxwell , Guy Repton , Rev . 0 . 3 . Martyn , J . S . Fleming , Harry Nicholls , Lionel Rigndd , Colonel A . B . Bennett , and Wilhelm Ganz . Bro . H . J . Matthews President of the Board of Benevolence , after occupying the position of Secretary of the Lodge for the last nine years ,

resigned the office , and it was proposed to present him with a testimonial , and'this was mentioned to the Brethren of the Lodge ; but Bro . Matthews stated that he did not . wishto have a Masonic jewel .. He would wish to have any amount that might be voted contributed in his name to the Royal Masonic Institution for Gitls .

At the dinner Bro . Oscar Barrett , in proposing the health of the Prince of Wales , referred to His Royal Highness' hospital scheme , and said he hoped all Masonic Lodges , at tbeir meetings would sent round the charity box for that fund , no more than a shilling a head to be given . He wo ' uld initiate the suggestion that evening , and ask the Treasurer of the Lodge to take the box round . This was done , with the result that £ 5 3 s was contributed .

BLOOMSBURY RIFLES LODGE , No . 2362 . A VERY large and most successful meeting took place on Wednesday , at the Head-quarters of the Corps , Chenies Street , W . C , to witness the first working of the W . M . Bro . Thomas W . Mogford since his installation . ' ' Among those present were Bros . G . D . Mogford I . 'P . M ., J . L . Miller S . W ., G . W . Barter J . W ., Surgeon Lieutenant Colonel H . R . Myers P . M . Treasurer , Sergeant G . Jackson Crow Secretary , G . E . Gilbert S . D ., G .

Chandler J . D .. Hospital Sergeant G . Groome I . G ., Sergeant A . Marshall D . C , C . E . Cowtan [ Organist , Sergeant G . Stevenson S ., Or W . Steel Assistant Steward , S . Ingram Tyler , Grimes P . M ., Claud Scott P . M ., H . Sillis P . M ., H . Fowler , W . J . Lewis , G . Stevenson , E . E . Milner , N . Laurie , J . Greenfield , 3 . Balls , W . S . Hall , F . The Lodge was opened in due form and the minutes were read and confirmed . The Lodge was advanced to the second . degree , when Bro . Robert Laurie answered the questions and proved himself proficient as a Craftsman . The Lodge was then opened in the third degree , and Bro . Laurie was raised to the rank of a Master Mason , and took his place in the Lodge as such . The Lodge ' was resumed to the first degree , and Bros . Greenfield ,

Lewis , and Milner were examined and entrusted , these Brethren being subsequently passed as Fellow Grafts . The Lodge was again resnmed in the first degree , and Mr . Herbert Peck being presented as a candidate'for initiation he was duly accepted and initiated into the mysteries of ancient Freemasonry , the W . M . giving the Charge and working the degrees in faultless manner ; his working , indeed , was highly appreciated by . the Past Masters and other Brethren present .

It was proposed and unanimously agreed to , that a harmonium should be bought for the Lodge . It was also proposed and seconded that a letter of thanks should be sent to the President of the Officers' Mess for their kindness , in . allowing the Brethren the use of their Mess Rooms during their Masonic year . After a few more transactions the Lodge was closed , and the Brethren retired to the Sergeants' Mess Room , where an excellent bahquet was provided under the personal supervision of Bro . Stickland , the caterer for the Mess .

The cloth being removed , the W . M . proposed the toast of the Queen and the Craft , followed by that of the Grand Master . In connection with the latter he particularly referred to the kindness of the Prince of Wales in urging , as he was now doing , the cause . qf the Hospitals of London . He felt their Lodge should support the Grand Master in this matter , and he therefore proposed to send the Charity box round on behalf of the Fund , the result being that a nice little sum was collected , and this the Master proposed to forward through the proper channel .

The I . P . M . now assumed authority , and in most eloquent terms proposed the health of the Worshipful Master , who , he said , had worked the three degrees on the first night since his installation as it had never before been done in the Bloomsbury Rifles Lodge , he had indeed created a record in his favour . He added it was not , however , solely on account of the excellent working that evening that he called upon the members to honour

The Worshipful Master-elect had , since his election , gone to South Africa ; a new Master could not be

elected and installed until April , in which case at this time next year ; not having served the office for a year , he would not be entitled to rank as a Past Master , therefore , the Brethren chose the present Master to serve the office for another year . Bro . Henry Neville , who is that Brother , was not able to be present , and no re-installation took place .

Bro . Oscar Barrett P . M . presided , and the Officers appointed were Bros . G . M . Maxwell , Guy Repton , Rev . 0 . 3 . Martyn , J . S . Fleming , Harry Nicholls , Lionel Rigndd , Colonel A . B . Bennett , and Wilhelm Ganz . Bro . H . J . Matthews President of the Board of Benevolence , after occupying the position of Secretary of the Lodge for the last nine years ,

resigned the office , and it was proposed to present him with a testimonial , and'this was mentioned to the Brethren of the Lodge ; but Bro . Matthews stated that he did not . wishto have a Masonic jewel .. He would wish to have any amount that might be voted contributed in his name to the Royal Masonic Institution for Gitls .

At the dinner Bro . Oscar Barrett , in proposing the health of the Prince of Wales , referred to His Royal Highness' hospital scheme , and said he hoped all Masonic Lodges , at tbeir meetings would sent round the charity box for that fund , no more than a shilling a head to be given . He wo ' uld initiate the suggestion that evening , and ask the Treasurer of the Lodge to take the box round . This was done , with the result that £ 5 3 s was contributed .

BLOOMSBURY RIFLES LODGE , No . 2362 . A VERY large and most successful meeting took place on Wednesday , at the Head-quarters of the Corps , Chenies Street , W . C , to witness the first working of the W . M . Bro . Thomas W . Mogford since his installation . ' ' Among those present were Bros . G . D . Mogford I . 'P . M ., J . L . Miller S . W ., G . W . Barter J . W ., Surgeon Lieutenant Colonel H . R . Myers P . M . Treasurer , Sergeant G . Jackson Crow Secretary , G . E . Gilbert S . D ., G .

The Lodge was opened in due form and the minutes were read and confirmed . The Lodge was advanced to the second . degree , when Bro . Robert Laurie answered the questions and proved himself proficient as a Craftsman . The Lodge was then opened in the third degree , and Bro . Laurie was raised to the rank of a Master Mason , and took his place in the Lodge as such . The Lodge ' was resumed to the first degree , and Bros . Greenfield ,

Lewis , and Milner were examined and entrusted , these Brethren being subsequently passed as Fellow Grafts . The Lodge was again resnmed in the first degree , and Mr . Herbert Peck being presented as a candidate'for initiation he was duly accepted and initiated into the mysteries of ancient Freemasonry , the W . M . giving the Charge and working the degrees in faultless manner ; his working , indeed , was highly appreciated by . the Past Masters and other Brethren present .

It was proposed and unanimously agreed to , that a harmonium should be bought for the Lodge . It was also proposed and seconded that a letter of thanks should be sent to the President of the Officers' Mess for their kindness , in . allowing the Brethren the use of their Mess Rooms during their Masonic year . After a few more transactions the Lodge was closed , and the Brethren retired to the Sergeants' Mess Room , where an excellent bahquet was provided under the personal supervision of Bro . Stickland , the caterer for the Mess .

The cloth being removed , the W . M . proposed the toast of the Queen and the Craft , followed by that of the Grand Master . In connection with the latter he particularly referred to the kindness of the Prince of Wales in urging , as he was now doing , the cause . qf the Hospitals of London . He felt their Lodge should support the Grand Master in this matter , and he therefore proposed to send the Charity box round on behalf of the Fund , the result being that a nice little sum was collected , and this the Master proposed to forward through the proper channel .

The I . P . M . now assumed authority , and in most eloquent terms proposed the health of the Worshipful Master , who , he said , had worked the three degrees on the first night since his installation as it had never before been done in the Bloomsbury Rifles Lodge , he had indeed created a record in his favour . He added it was not , however , solely on account of the excellent working that evening that he called upon the members to honour
