Order , and ho instituted tho honorary ranks of Grand Crosses and Commanders , appointing a certain number of each . Colonel MacLeod Mooro had tho honour of being nominated ono of the Grand Crosses , tho number being limited to twenty-one , of which six wore royal personages , including tho Emperor of Germany and King of Sweden . A memorial , forwarded from the Provincial Grand

Priory of Canada to His Hoyal Highness , praying to bo formed into an independent or National Great Priory , received favourable attention , but owing to tho protracted absence from England of tbo Prince , and the death of tho Duke of Loinstor , Great Prior of Ireland , considerable delay occurred in tho transaction of important business connected with tho Order . On tho 10 th August 1875 , at Montreal , Province of

Quebec , tho Provincial Grand Priory of Canada , was declared a National Great Priory by patent from tho Prince of Wales , and Bro . Colonel MacLeod Mooro by commission and mandate installed Great Prior of the United Orders of tho Temple aud Malta for tho Dominion of Canada , thus attaining ono of the most distinguished positions that could bo conferred upon him . In Ancient Craffc Masonry , in

Capitular Cryptic Masonry , in tho Chivalric Orders , and in tho 33 degrees of tho A . A . Scottish Rite , our Brother has worked zealously and faithfully 5 and especially during the early days of Masonry in Canada , overcame difficulties thafc wonld have daunted a less determined , loss enthusiastic brother . Ambition with him meant a determined desire to spread tho truo principles of . Masonry abroad in all his

jonmoyings , and if honours in plenty havo been conferred upon him , thoy havo been honourably won , ancl havo been used commendably as ends to promote still further tho boat interests of tho Masonic society . Our distinguished Brother having from a laudable curiosity iu search of light , mado himself conversant with nearly all tho various rites and degrees attached to Ancient Craffc Masonry , ho has found much to

commend , and to thoso who havo leisure to devote to thoir history and symbolism , considers valuable information to bo gained , bufc outside from this , of no particular utility whatever . Believing Craft Masonry , including the Royal Arch , the only true and genuine Freemasonry , all other degrees and rites mero modern parasites on tho Craft ; in fact , all innovations , equally legitimate aud equally spurious , —but

all legitimate so far that it is lawful for a , Master Mason to acquire any or all of them . All spurious , as true Masonio degrees , from tho fact that none of them aro required or acknowledged by the Craffc Grand Lodge , the only really supreme governing Masonic Body . He looks npon the A . and A . S . Rites , in its modern reformed work , as of a stately and refined character , calculated to interest tho Masonio student , bufc , like all the others ,

possessing no practical useful knowledge , or having any authority beyoncl itself . Of tho Templar Order , ho has always been an enthusiastic admirer , as having moro reality than tho other bodies adopted by tho Craft , and capable of beiug brought into vigorous life by giving it more of the spirit of chivalry , purifying it from the modern innovations , thafc had no place in the Ancient Order , introduced to assimilate and amalgamate its chivalric character with tho usages of the Craft .

In conclusion , our Brother , Colonel MacLeod Mooro is an Honorary Masonic Corresponding Member of various degrees in different countries . Ho is au Active Member of tho Supremo Grand Council , 33 degree , for Canada ; an Honorary Member of tho Supremo Grand

Council of the Northern and Southern jurisdiction , United States and Ireland ; representative of tho Supremo Grand Council of England and Kingdom of Greece ; ho is also Great Prior of tho National Great Priory of Canada , and an Associate Honorary Chevalier of tho non-Masonic Order of Sfc . John of Jerusalem in England .
