As announced in our last , the
College of Yorkshire was Consecrated on Saturday the Sth instant , and we have to congratulate all who took part in tho proceedings of tho day on the complete success which rewarded their labors . At the termination of this solemn ceremony , all present retired , and a procession was formed in the anteroom to conduct the Consecrating Officer to the Temp le . On assuming the chair , Fr . Matier called on tho acting Secretary
General to read the mandate , authorising him to consecrate the Yorkshire College and instal the Chief Adept designate , this being done , ho appointed as his assessors Frs . Eutwislo and Brockbank , and as Chaplain Prater Hine , and with thoir assistance proceeded with the beautiful and impressive ceremony , which was performed in a manner that could not fail to give satisfaction to all who wore
present . Prater Ellis was then presented for installation , and after taking tho oath dejkleli , was formally inducted into the chair , aud saluted by his brethren iu the Order . Ho then appointed his Officers as follow : — Frs . A . Scargill Suffragan , W . R . Thomas Prov . Treasurer General , Dr . Griffiths Prov . Secretary General , T . B . Whytehead Celebrant ,
William White 1 st Ancient , J . S . Cumberland 2 nd Ancient , John Clark 3 rd Ancient , H . VV . Lofthouse 4 th Ancient , Thomas Blair Chamberlain , J . E . Reaney C of Novices , Leighton Acolyte . On the proposition of Fr . Ellis , seconded by Fr . Scargill , a hearty and cordial vote of thanks was accorded to the brethren who had so
kindly come from great distances to assist at the Consecration , and honorary membership was conferred on Frs . C . F . Matier , Thos . Entwisle , G . P . Brockbank , J . L . Hine , A . Middleton , W . J . Hughan , R . W . Little , and Capt . Irwin . Frater Matier then read a most excellent paper on the solemn truths inculcated in Rosicrncian Philosophy , which was followed by a lecture on the Objects and Scope of
the Society , by Fr . Capt . Irwin , and read , in his unavoidable absence , by Fr . Scargill . Apologies for absence were tendered from several candidates , and from Fraters Yarker , the Hon . W . T . Orde-Powlett , & c , & o . The M . C . was then closed ; and after a short interval the brethren united in partaking of the " Cnp that cheers , but not inebriates . " A most delightful evening was spent , and the brethren
were much indebted to Frs . Cumberland , Entwisle , and others for some capital songs . Fr . Matier made a powerful appeal for the Masonic Charities , which wo trust will , in dne time , meet with a suitable response . As many of tho brethren were obliged to leave by train , some for Manchester , some for York , and others for London , the proceedings of tho day were brought to a close at an early hour .
