Replying for the Provincial Grand Officers , Bro . Bing Prov . G . Secretary expressed the pleasure he felt at being present . He congratulated the Lodge on its work , and sincerely thanked the members for the reception they had given him . As-he had only recently been appointed to the Office of Provincial Grand Secretary he would of necessity have to visit many other Lodges in the Province , and he
only hoped that he would be as cordially received as he had been that evening . He regretted that the Deputy Provincial Grand Master was not present , but lie could assure them that they would receive a visit from him before long , as he was an indefatigable worker , and would undoubtedly , visit all the Lodges in the Province . Proposing the toast of the W . M . the I . P . M . said it was usual when proposing this toast to refer to the excellent personal qualities
of the chief , and his skill as a worker . As regarded their present W . M ., he could unhesitatingly say he was undoubtedly a right down jolly good fellow , and the Lodge would never regret having elected him to the Chair , but as regarded his working , his year had only just begun , and it remained to be seen what manner of worker he would prove himself . He had no doubt he would follow in the footsteps of his predecessors .
The W . M ., in reply , assured the Brethren they might rely upon him always using every endeavour to perform his duties creditably , whatever the result might be they might know that he had done his very best ; Of his good feeling and real attachment to the Lodge no assurances were needed .
Replying to the toast of the visitors , Bro . Longhurst P . M . made some really humourous remarks , amongst which he compared himself to the child who was always admonished when going to a party , to behave himself properly , or he would not get invited to that party again ; and the application was , that although it was not his first visit there , he hoped to be allowed to come on a future occasion , and he trusted his . friend Bro . Philcox would consider his conduct worthy of another invitation .
The toasts of the Installing Master , the Past Masters , and the Officers , were each duly proposed and replied to . Replying for the Past Maters Bro . Francis took the occasion to refer to the River Trip in the summer , and to inform the Brethren that the success of that outing was due to the personal efforts of Bro . A . Davis , Bro . Tomes , Bro . W . G . Vincent , and Bro . W . E . Davis . The first named was unsparing in his efforts , both beforehand and on the day of the trip .
During the evening Bro . Harry Ti pper gave some of his beautiful selections on the Handbells . Bro . Francis Junr ., Bro . Vincent Junr ., and Bro . Tomes the W .
