St . James ' s Union Lodge , NO . 180 . —The regular meeting of this excellent working Lodge was held on Tuesday , 9 th instant , at Freemason's Hall , Great Qneen-strcet . Bros . S . Fnrwig W . M ., W . Stollard S . W ., C . J . Wade J . W ., L . B . Pillin Treas ., IV . 0 . Parsons P . M . See ., G . B . Fletcher S . D ., J . Wood J . D , Bishop as I . G . ; P . M . to the second degree , and Mr . Thomas Denne , who had been ballotted for and accepted , was initiated into the Order . All these ceremonies were perfectly and impressively rendered by the "W . M ., who was ably assisted by the OGScers . The W . M . gavo the Traditional History , and the explanation of the five points ; he was listened to with great attention . The election for W . M . then took place , and Bro . Stollard

S . W . was unanimously chosen . Bro . L . B . Pillin was re-elected Treas ., aud Bro . Gilbert Tyler . Bro . Stonor was re-elected Treasurer of the Benevolent Fund . Bros . Adams , Russell , and Maxted were appointed auditors . Bro . Pillin P . M . proposed , and Bro . Cameron P . M . seconded , a proposition that a gold Past Master ' s jewel be presented to Bro . Farwig on his retiring from the chair , for the able and

efficient manner iu which he had conducted its duties during the past year , and in testimony of the high estimation in which he was held by the brethren . The W . M . thanked the brethren for their kind and cordial vote ; he would wear the jewel with pride in remembrance of his connection with the Lodge . Tho W . M . then intimated that it was his intention to represent the Lodge it the next Anniversary

Festival of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , and a sum of ten guineas was voted from the fund to be placed on his list . Bro . Pillin P . M . said , some time since the late Bro . Francatelli promised a snuffbox for the Lodge . Since his death his widow wished to carry ont this request . Hehoped that a suitable plate and inscription wonld be placed on it , and also that a letter be " sent to Mrs . Francatelli ,

thanking ber for her gift . Bro . Staden offered to havo a suitable plate and inscription placed on the snuff box , and Bro . Levitt offered to keep it filled . A letter was road from Bro . H . A . Stacey P . M ., late Secretary , thanking the Lodge for the valuable testimonial presented to him . Bro . Fletcher S . D . proposed that a ball be held as hitherto , under the patronage of the Lodge , and the W . M . elect consented to

act as President . The resignation of a brother wn * accepted , with regret . The Lodge was then closed , and tho brethren sat down to a very excellent banquet and dessert , provided by Bro . A . Best , and superintended by Bro . E . Dawkins . Grace having been said , the W . M . proposed the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts . After the first toast the National Anthem was snng by Bro . Pillin ,

Bro . Hart accompanying him on the piano . Bro . Parsons I . P . M . then rose and said he had great pleasuro in proposing the health of the W . M ., who was one who had dono his duty . Bro . Farwig hud worked the ceremonies to their satisfaction , and he hoped the brethren would heartily drink to the toast . Bro . Russell here sang "She wore a wreath of Roses . " and then tho W . M . thanked Bro .

Parsons for the manner in which his health had been proposed , and also for the assistance he had received , not only from tho Past Masters , bnt also from every Officer and Brother in tho Lodgo ; ho thanked them for their hearty response . The W . M . had noiv great pleasure in proposing the health of the newl y initiated Brother , who , he was sure , would become a credit to the Order . Ho wonld also associate with

this toast the name of Bro . Boemper , tho joining member . After a song from Bro . Pillin , Bro . Denne returned thanks ; ho was followed by Bro . Boemper , who fully justified the remarks made by the W . M . The toast of the Visitors was next introduced , aftor which Bro . Pinto Leite sang in hia usual artistic style . Bros . II . M . Levy and Brailey responded to the toast . The W . M . regretted the W . M . elect was

absent on busiuess of great importance ; however , ho was sure tho selection the brethren had mado was the right one . He noxt proposed the toast of the Past Masters ; all of whom are well known and appreciated . Every reliance and confidence can be placed on them ; their working was always good , aud thoir interest for tho welfare of tho Lodge could not bo exceeded .

He would call on Bro . Robinson to respond . After a song from . Bro . Cooper , Bro . Robinson responded . H" saw with pleasure new blood boing introduced into the Lodge . Ho trusted those who had joined that evening would eventually occupy the chair . Ho regretted tho absence of one of the oldest Past Masters , Bro . II . A . Stacey , bnt hoped on the next occasion that brother would bo present ; he was sure no one stood highor in thoir regard . This year had not been

commercially a prosperous one , but he hoped when the accounts were audited they would find a good balance in their favour . Bro . W . C . Parsons followed . Ho hoped tho manner tho W . M . had spoken of him wonld fnlly justify Ids great , anxiety to do all ho could for their comfort . Tho Tyler ' s toast was next given , nnd the brethren separated . All agreed that a very delightful evening had been spent . Bro . L . llcrf also contributed to the harmony .
