THE INSTITUTIONS .

Eoyal Masonic Institution for Girls . THE Quarterly Court of the Governors ancl Subscribers was held at Freemasons' Tavern , on Thursday , under the presidency of Bro . H . Smith P . G . D . D . P . G . M . West Yorks ., Vice-Patron and Treasurer of the Institution .

A vote of condolence , moved by Bro . S . H . Parkhouse , and seconded by Bro . A . C . Spaull , was unanimously passed and ordered to be communicated to the family of the late Captain S . G . Homfray Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Monmouthshire , who for a long series of years

was a prominent figure at all the elections of the Masonic charities , and one of their warmest supporters . The election of Girls into the School was then proceeded with , twenty-two being elected from a list of

forty candidates . The names of the successful , with the votes polled by each , are given in our advertisement column . The following are the details in regard to the unsuccessful candidates : Brought Polled Total forward , to-day . Polled

It was agreed that the proposal from the Province of Kent for the purchase of a perpetual presentation should be accepted .

Bro . Charles E . Keyser M . A ., F . S . A ., J . P ., P . G . D . was elected Treasurer of the Institution , Bro . Letchworth Grand Secretary having resigned that position on account of his numerous engagements . A vote of thanks was passed to Bro . Letchworth for his services as

Treasurer . Thirty boys were afterwards elected into the School . A list of those successful is given in our advertisement column . The following were unsuccessful :

REPORTS OF MEETINGS .

— : o : — METROPOLITAN . — : o : — WANDERERS LODGE , No . 1604 . THIS Lodge , which is largely composed of military men belongs ing to the Home command , held its installation meeting at Freemasons' Hall , on Tuesday , the 10 th inst ., when there was a large gathering of members and visitors , among them the Eev . E . J . Simpson P . G . Chaplain , who has for many years rilled that office in the Wanderers Lodge ; Bro . Cottebrune P . G . P ., & c .

The usual routine disposed of , Bro . Ogg , the retiring W . M ., installed his successor Bro . Thomas Sims in a most impressive manner , and the new chief appointed his Officers as under : F . W .

Ogg I . P . M ., H . E . Fraser P . M . 2206 , 2331 , P . P . G . St . B . Herts S . W ., W . Thatcher J . W ., Capt . Butterworth P . M . Treas ., E . J . Scott Sec , Smales S . D ., H . Gardiner J . D ., Eoberts I . G ., Engel Org ., Lewis D . C , Mann and Brooking Stewards , and Young Tyler . At the banquet which followed , the usual Loyal and Masonio toasts were honoured , Bro . Sergt .-Major Gardiner singing the solos . Bro . Simpson responded to the toast of the Grand Officers , and alluded in kindly terms to the hearty reception he himself had

always met with at the hands of the Brethren of " 1604 , " with whom he had been associated for many years , and which acquaintance had produced many pleasant and sacred memories which had left no sting behind . He was very delighted with the manner in which the Installing Master had performed his duties , and the way in which the W . M . had concluded the work was a happy augury for very great happiness , and a high standard of excellence for the forthcoming year .

Bro . Ogg proposed the toast of the W . M ., and spoke of his good qualities and the earnest way he had climbed up the ladder of promotion , faithfully discharging the duties of each office in succession until he had reached the chair , the duties of which he

was sure the W . M . would discharge with the same zeal , courtesy , and efficiency as he had thoso of the minor offices . He hoped the Brethren would find their new Master plenty of work , which he was quite competent to perform . The toast was enthusiastically honoured .

The W . M . afterwards gave the toast of the Immediate P . M . in eulogistic terms , and presented that Brother with the usual P . M . ' s jewel , the gift ; being suitably acknowledged . Bro . Barnett responded for the Initiates , and the remaining toasts were duly honoured .

During the evening a- high class selection of music , songs , recitations , & c . was given under the direction of Bro . Engel , the Organist , among the artistes being : Misses Victory and Morse , Messrs . Hermann Samuels , and Chas . Solomon , Master Herni , Bro . Sergt . Brown , & c . o o o

STUART LODGE , No . 1632 . THE installation of Bro . W . H . Fruen as Worshipful Master took place at the Surrey Masonic Hall , on Thursday of last week . The Lodge was opened by Bro . H . Mascall W . M ., who afc onee proceeded to initiate Messrs . Hipgrave , Cook , Russell and Sharp ; after which Bros . Morgan , Brooke , and O'Connor were raised .

Bro . Mascall vacated the chair in favour of Bro . P . M . Bolding , who in a very impressive manner installed Bro . W . H . Fruen . The Worshipful Master presented Bro . Mascall with the Past Master ' s jewel that had been voted him by the Brethren , and warmly complimented him on having arrived at the end of a very successful year of office . Bro . Mascall replied in suitable terms .

The W . M . closed the Lodge , and the Brethren adjourned to banquet , which was fully appreciated by those present , forming , as they did , one of the largest gatherings that has met in the Stuart Lodge for some time . Bro . P . M . Mascall proposed the toast of the Worshipful Master , aud in very complimentary terms congratulated the Brethren on the selection they had made in the choice of a Master .

The W . M . replied and thanked the Brethren for the great honour they had conferred on him . During the evening some capital songs and recitations were given . o o o

SKELMERSDALE LODGE , No . 1658 . THE installation meeting was held at the Surrey Masonic Hall , Camberwell , on the 22 nd ulfc . Bro . Stuart Field Bygrovo Senior Warden having been unanimously elected by the Brethren at the previous regular Lodge meeting to fill the chair , was regularly promoted to the chief dignity .

Bro . James Letchford W . M . opened the Lodge , and the minutes of the previous regular Lodge meeting and the audit meeting were read and confirmed . He then proceeded to instal his successor in a very impressive manner .

The addresses to the W . M ., Wardens , and Brethren were given by fche Installing Master , after which the W . M . proceeded to initiate Mr . James Davies , and the able manner in which ho performed the ceremony for the firsfc time was a guarantee of a

very successful year of office . In the new W . M . the Skelmersdale Lodge sustains its reputation as the possessor of a long scries of W . M . ' s thoroughly acquainted with and perfect masters of all the details and workings of the three degrees . Several gentlemen were proposed as candidates for initiation , after which the W . M . closed the Lodge .
