Reports Of Meetings.

The Brethren then adjourned to the Pillar Hall , where a splendid banquet was provided by Mrs . Venables . The W . M . was ably supported on his right and left by tho Past Masters of his own and other Lodges , the Senior and Junior Wardens occupying the chairs at their respective tables . On the removal of the cloth , the W . M . proposed the usual Loyal ancl Grand Lodge toasts , which wero honoured .

Bro . James Hill P . M . and Treasurer proposed the health of the Worshipful Master , and said that in him the Lodge had an enthusiastic Mason , and one who would do his work well , who would s 'tudy fche comfort and happiness of all the Brethren , and follow in the footsteps of the Worshipful Masters who had preceeded him .

The W . M . thanked the Brethren for the very kind and hearty manner in which they had responded to the toast , and expressed his great anxiety to do all in his power for the welfare of the Lodge , as he had hitherto done , and trusted the Brethren would bring him plenty of work to do during his year of office .

The W . M . proposed the health of the Initiate in a few wellchosen words , and welcomed him as a member of thc Lodge . The Initiate responded in a most impressive speech . He trusted , in due time and with perseverance , to attain to the high position in Masonry which tho W . M . occupied .

The toast of the Visitors , a very popular one in the Skelmersdale Lodge , was next given by the W . M ., who said they had been favoured by the presence of several very influential Brethren . In the name of the Lodge he gave them a hearty and cordial greeting . He considered the presence of Brethren was the one

great means of cementing the bond of unity which should exist between all Masonic Lodges . Several visitors replied , thanking tho Brethren for the very kind and hospitable reception which had been accorded to them , and congratulating tho W . M . upon the excellence of his working in the Lodge during the ceremony of Initiation ..

The toasts of tho Past Masters , Treasurer , Secretary , and Officers of the Lodge were duly proposed and responded to , after which the Tyler ' s toast terminated a most successful and enjoyable evening .

During the evening some capital songs and recitations were given by several of the Brethren and Visitors , under the able direction of Bro . Frank Swinford , the talented Organist .

o o o KENSINGTON LODGE , No . 1767 . THE members gave their eighth annual ball on the 30 th ult ., at Ladbroke Hall . Mr . J . Lings Bareham's well-known band was in attendance . The M . C . ' s were Bros . Bean and Vassie ,

and the Stewards , whose sole desire appeared to be to minister to the comfort of the guests , were Bros . J . J . Mackay W . M ., W . B . Neville , J . W . J . Clarke , and Lewis Beale Secretary . After supper , excellently provided and served by Mr . Linscott , tho W . M . proposed the toasts , which were heartily received . o o o

GALLERY LODGE , No . 1928 . THE annual ladies' night and entertainment was held on the 31 st ult ., at Anderton ' s Hotel , Fleet Street , Bro . J . C . Manning W . M . presiding . During the proceedings a handsome gold bracelet was presented to Miss Moore , sister of the I . P . M ., Bro . C . K . Moore , in recognition of the Lodge's appreciation of her brother ' s services . The banquet was followed by a musical

entertainment , in which the following artistes took part : Bros . Dalgety Henderson , A . Weston , Otto Dene , Percy Shepherd , Algernon Lee , M'Call Chambers , Charles Conyers , Will Edwards , and Alfred Stacey . Bro . John Proctor gave some inimitable recitations , Bro . Carel Blintz a violin solo , and Bro . W . L . Barritfc and Radcliffe flute solos and duets . Bro . Edwin Bending accompanied the performers , with his usual ability . o o o

WAKEFIELD LODGE , No . 495 . ON the 10 th inst ., a banquet was held afc the Freemasons' Hall , Zetland Street , Wakefield , to celebrate the jubilee of this Lodge . Amongst the large company was Bro . Statter , J . P ., of Snapethorpe Hall , the first Master of the Lodge .

o o o LOYAL BERKSHIRE LODGE OF HOPE , No . 574 . ON Friday of last week there was an unusually large attendance of Officers and Brethren at the Temperance Hall , Newbury , under the presidency of Bro . J . Napoleon Day W . M ., for the

purpose of doing honour to Bro . Charles Edward Keyser , of Aldermaston Court , Past G . Deacon of England , who , on the proposal of Pasfc Masfcer Stephen Knight , seconded by the W . M ., had been unanimously elected as a Joining Member of thc Lodge , together with Bro . the Eev . W . Muirhead Hope , curate of St . Nicholas , and Provincial Grand Chaplain of Oxfordshire . 0 0 0

GUNDULPH LODGE , No . 1050 . THE Council Chamber , at the Guildhall , Rochester ( the use of which had been specially granted to the Freemasons by the Mayor ) was filled with Brethren from the city and also from various parts of the Province of Kent on Wednesday , 4 th insfc ., on the

occasion of the annual Festival of tlie Lodge , among those present being sevoral distinguished Present and Past Officers of Provincial Graud Lodge . Tlie Guudulph Lodge is ' named after the Bishop who built Rochester Cathedral , the Tower of London , Mailing

Abbey , and other edifices , and was himself a distinguished Freem \ son . Founded 30 years since , the Lodge is in a highly flourishing condition , and numbers among its members many of the leading men of the city , whilst it bears a high character for the good work it is doing in the cause of charitv .

The ceremony of installing the new Master ( Bro . G . H . Russell ) was very ably performed by Bro . S . J . Brico junr ., who received at the close a well-deserved vote of thanks for the ability and impressiveness with which the ceremony had been rendered . The newly-installed Master then appointed the Officers for the ensuing year .

A nob uninteresting portion of the after proceedings was the presentation , on thc part of the Lodge , of a valuable Past Master's jewel to Bro . S . J . Brice , given in appreciation of the very able manner in which ho had presided over the Lodge during the past year .

At the close of the business the Brethren adjourned to tho King ' s Head Hotel , High Street , and partook of the annual banquet , which , it may be remarked , was exceedingly well served by tho new proprietress of the Hotel . Under the presidency of Bro . Russell , the customary toasts were given ancl ably responded to , tho pleasures of the evening being considerably enhanced by the excellent musical programme arranged under tlie direction of Bro . T . Oldroyd . o o o

the E . A . charge was delivered to Bro . C . F . Davies by Bro . P . E . Land S . W . Bro . Davies subsequently answered the necessary questions and was passed by the W . M . Bro . Burslem gave tho explanation of the second Tracing Board in fine manner . After hearty good wishes were expressed by the Visiting Brethren the Lodse was closed in peace and harmonv .

At the social board the health of Bro . Davies was proposed by Bro . Preston S . D . and drunk with enthusiasm , the newly passed Brother expressing himself much impressed with the ceremonies . The W . M . proposed the health of the Visitors in glowing terms . Bro . Burslem proposed the health of tho W . M . and spoke in a very eulogistic way of the manner the W . M . performed his work , as also did his Officers .

The W . M . proposed the health of the Past Masters and spoke of tho truly Masonic feeling that existed between the P . Ms ., Officers , and Brethren of the Lodge , and their ever willingness to give at all times their assistance and advice when required . The intervals between the toasts were enlivened with songs from Bros . Lees , Ashworth , MacCallum , Schofield and others . Bro . Kcay ably presided at the piano . '

ATLINGWORTH LODGE , No . 1821 . AT a monthly meeting held at the Royal Pavilion , Brighton , the occasion being a musical evening , opportunity was taken to present Bro . B . Burfield P . M . Assistant Prov . G . Secretary with a testimonial . The Lodge was opened by the W . M ., Bro . Arthur

Loader , who was supported by the Officers and other Brethren . After the usual Lodge business had been transacted , the company adjourned to the Banqueting Room , where , after supper had been discussed , the special incident of the evening took place .

The Worshipful Master made the presentation on behalf of tho Brethren . It consisted of a handsome silver tea and coffee service , suitably inscribed , together with an album containing the names of the subscribers . The present was handed over amid loud applause , and Bro . Burfield , who met with an extremely cordial

reception on rising , briefly , but suitably acknowledged the gratifying token of respect and regard entertained for him by the Brethren of Atlingworth Lodge . He warmly appreciated such a gratifying mark of their Brotherly feeling towards him , though the presentation was an entire surprise to him . He had , he said , been honoured

in 1884 by being elected as W . M . of the Lodge ; he had acted as Secretary for two or three years , and had been pleased to givo what time he could spare to further the interests of the Lodge and Freemasonry in general . He was gratified to see that the Brethren had appreciated the manner in which he had discharged his duties .

The musical attractions of the evening were of a very enjoyable character . Glees , madrigals , and part songs were efficiently given by Bro . Geo . May , Bro . Albert James , Bro . William Coates and

Bro . George Stubbs , under the direction of Bro . Coates , while further variety was introduced by Bros . G . Pcrren , A . C . Latter , E . H . Payne , R . Willard , Plumbridge and R . Smith . Bro . W . Norman Roe P . P . G . O . acted as accompanist .
