and feeling terms to the Queen ' s visit to Ireland , pointing out that the hearty expressions of loyalty which had been experienced there had never been doubted by him " for a moment , and he felt that disaffection was only rife among a small minority , led by a handful of self-seeking agitators . During the Master ' s speech in proposing the toast of the Queen news reached him of the attempt on the ljfe of the Prince of Wales , and in proposing the toast of His Royal Highness he electrified the Brethren by the
announcement , adding however , to the great relief of all , that the information he had received did not make it clear that any harm had come to the Prince , and uttering a fervent prayer that such was not the case . The W . M . continued by pointing out the great advantages the Craft derived from the Prince ' s connection with it , and the consequent loss it would sustain by any event that severed that association . The toast was most enthusiastically received , as also was that of the Grand Officers , which was next proposed .
The I . P . M . next submitted the health of the Worshipful Master who , in response , heartily thanked the Brethren for the kind manner in which they had received the toast . He then in forcible and eloquent language reminded the Brethren of the cause he had so much at heart ,. the welfare of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls , for which he was this year acting as Steward . A very gratifying response was made to the appeal by the Brethren , the result being that the Master ' s list was increased to sixty guineas . Bros . W . M . Stiles P . G . Treasurer and John Mason P . G . Standard Bearer
were among the other speakers , the latter supporting in his usual eloquent way the appeal of the W . M . on behalf of the Girls School . Several Brethren contributed to the harmony of the evening , which was voted on all hands as having been most enioyably spent .

Lodge was opened , and advanced to the second degree , when Bro . G . F . Payne was examined and entrusted . The Lodge being opened in the third degree , the raising ceremony was gone through , after which the Lodge was resumed to the second degree , and the ceremony of installation was rehearsed , Bro . K . M . Ross acting aa W . M .-elect and Bro . Hinds taking the place of D . C . A board of Installed Masters was formed , and the inside work was rehearsed
after which the Board was closed and the Brethren duly saluted in the several degrees . The W . M . proceeded to invest his Officers , and the W . M . of the Mother Lodge Bro . John Worth gave the addresses in a pleasing manner , thereby showing that he is perfectly competent to instal his successor when called upon . Thanks having been given to the various Officers for attending , the Brethren separated after a most successful meeting .

Conroy Shepheard were unanimously elected members . The Secretary having mentioned the sad loss sustained by Bro . Preceptor A . 0 . A . Higgerty P . Prov . J . G . W . Berks P . death of his wife , it was proposed by Bro . Wills P . M ., seconded by Bro . G . Wood W . M . Bolingbroke Lodge , " that a vote of condolence be sent to Bro . Higgerty in his sad bereavement , " which was unanimously carried ; a wreath was also ordered to bo sent on behalf of the Lodge . Bro . Wills P . M . proposed , and Bro . Kingston W . M . Wandsworth Lodge seconded , " that the Lodge ha adjourned , as a mark of respect to Bro . Preceptor Higgerty , " which was unanimously passed , and the Lodge was closed and adjourned accordingly .

The opening formalities having been observed Bro . Cohn answered the questions leading to the second degree and was entrusted . The Lodge was advanced and the ceremony of passing was rehearsed . The Lodge was further advanced and then resumed to the second degree , when the W . M . vacated the
chair in favour of Bro . F . Hewson . Bro . May was presented as W . M .-elect by Bro . Mulvey , who made an excellent Director of Ceremonies . Having taken the obligation the Lodge was opened up , and the W . M .-elect was installed and saluted in the various degrees . The Installing Master continued with the addresses , which were delivered is an impressive and faultless
manner . Bro . 0 . D . Lindsay W . M . of the Leigh Lodge was elected a member , which compliment was acknowledged . Bro . Godrich will preside to-morrow ( Sunday ) and the meeting being on the eva of a Bank Holiday we expect to see an exceptionally good gathering . Most

Godrich proposed that a vote of sincere sympathy with the Worshipful the Grand Master should be recorded on the minutes , regretting the dastardly attempt made upon His Royal Highness in Brussels , and congratulating him on his escape , which was unanimously accepted . Bro . Mulvey proposed a hearty vote of thanks for the able manner in which Bro . F . Hewson W . M . of the Leigh Lodge , No . 858 had performed the nstallation ceremony , which compliment was highly appreciated ana acknowledged .

Bro . John Warburton was passed to the degree of F . C . by the W . M ., assisted by Bro . S . Andrew S . W ., who presented and explained the working tools . Bros . John Evans , George Mellor , and John T . Dobson were then raised to the sublime degree of M . M ., by Past Masters F . R . Radclifie , Wm . Jones , and J . H . Smith respectively .
Before the proceedings closed Bro . Dr . Jones W . M . presented to the Lodge a handsome organ , which bore the following inscription :

March 1900 . The instrument , which was supplied by Bro . J . Hibbs , of the Faith Lodge , No . 581 , was manufactured by a Boston ( U . S . A . ) firm , and its tone , whilst firm and powerful , is very pleasing . At the festive board which followed , Loyal and Masonic toasts were varied by songs , recitations , & c , several of the members and visitors being brought under contribution .
