WELCHPOOL LODGE , No . 998 . THE annual festival took place on Thursday , 28 th ult ., when Bro . Thomas Williams was installed Worshipful Master by Bro . Charles Shuker I . P . M ., assisted by Bro . Hughes P . M . P . P . G . Chap ., and Bro . W . P . Hole P . M . P . P . G . S . B .

The Lodge business was followed by a banquet at the Royal Oak Hotel , under the presidency of the W . M ., when the Loyal and Masonio toasts were duly honoured .

ST . PETER LODGE , No . 1024 . ON Wednesday evening , 4 th inst ., after the monthly meeting , at Maldon , a supper and social evening was enjoyed by the Brethren . About twenty sat down , under the presidency of the Worshipful Master Bro . W . E . Facey , at the Assembly Rooms , King ' s Head Hotel .

PELHAM LODGE , No . 1303 . THE installation meeting was held on Friday , 29 th ult ., when Brother W . Gates ( Mayor of Lewes ) was installed as W . M . The visiting Brethren included Grand Officers , Provincial Grand Officers , and a large gathering of distinguished Masons from various Provinces .

The Brethren afterwards dined together at the White Hart Hotel . The W . M . presided and an excellent musical programme was contributed to by Miss Alice Holman and Mr . Charles E . Nott , the accompaniments being played by Mr . Horace Jackson .

u . j K > ARCHITECT LODGE , No . 1375 . THE regular meeting was held at the Masonic Hall , Chorlton-cum-Hardy , on Friday , the 6 th inst ., Bro . I . R . E . Birkett W . M ., the-principal business of the evening being that of passing Bro . A . V . Sharratt to the degree of F . C , the ceremony being performed b y the W . M . Upon the closing of Lodge , which was done in peace and harmony , the Brethren adjourned to the festive board , a pleasant evening being spent .

SALEM LODGE , No . 1443 . THE twenty-fifth anniversary of the opening of this Lodge was celebrated at tbe Lansdowne Hotel , Dawlish , on Wednesday evening , 4 th inst . Bro . W . Trinnaman J . W . prepared an admirable banquet , which Brethren of the Lodge and others greatly enjoyed . The Worshipful Master Bro . W . Meer presided .

ARNOLD LODGE , No . 1799 . rjlHE annual installation and festival took place on Tuesday evening , 3 rd J . inst ., at the Marine Hotel , Walton-on-the-Naze . There was a full attendance of members , and several visiting Brethren . Bro . G . Gardiner W . M . performed the ceremony of installing Bro . J . W . Franks in the chair .

Before the closing of the Lodge , some six new or joining members were proposed . At the banquet which followed the installation , a most enjoyable evening was spent . The musical arrangements , which were in the hands of Bro . 0 . A . Brasted , were very satisfactory .

o o o BURRELL LODGE , No . 1829 . A VERY enjoyable gathering was held at the Royal Pavilion , Brighton , on Thursday , 5 th inst ., when the W . M . Bro . J . Olliver was presented with a silver mounted tantalus , with cigar and cigarette case combined , ih

commemoration of the birth of his son during his year of office . The presentation was made on behalf of the members-of . the Lodge by Bro . A . 3 . Carpenter P . M . P . P . G . Assistant Secretary , and suitably acknowled ged by the W . M .

o o o LOXFIELD LODGE , No . 2450 . 11 HE annual installation meeting was held at the Public Hall , Uckfield , on . Wednesday , 4 th inst ., when the Lodge was opened by the W . M ' . Bro . H . M . Langdale . The chief business of the meeting was the installation of Bro . W . Beaty as W . M . for the ensuing year , the ceremony being impressively performed by Bro . W . Wright P . M .

The Lodge having been closed , the Brethren adjourned to the Maiden's Head Hotel , where they sat down to an elegant banquet , supplied by Messrs . E . Booth and Sons , of East Street , Brighton . The newly installed W . M . ¦ Bro . Beaty presided , and was supported by several Grand Officers and Prov . Grand Officeis . The customary Loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured .

reached the highest honour the Lodge could confer upon him . He was the right man in the right place , and all the . members of the Lodge heartily wished him a happy and prosperous year . The W . M ., on rising to respond , was received with enthusiasm . He said the Worshipful Masters of the Loxfield Lodge had proved themselves so excellent in their work that he felt it difficult to follow in their footsteps . He would , however , do his utmost to carry out his duties in a conscientious

manner . o o o TRAVELLERS LODGE , No . 2609 . THE members celebrated the festival of St . John and the installation of their Worshipful Master for 1898-99 with great eclat at the Masonic Hall , Chester , on Saturday , 30 th ult . The Lodge has only been in existence two years , and already numbers forty members , while in the efficiency of its work it has already attained a high standard .

Saturday's ceremony was attended by His Honour Horatio Lloyd P . G . D . Deputy Prov . G . M . and several other Officers belonging to Cheshire , North Wales , and Shropshire . -Bro . Thos . Owen W . M . presided at the commencement of the proceedings , and Bro . Gunn , who had been unanimously chosen as W . M . at the April Lodge , was presented to him for installation by Bros . J . Armstrong and W . Peers .

At the conclusion of the ceremony the new W . M ., on behalf of the Brethren , presented Bro . Thomas Owen with a handsome Past Master's jewel , which bore an inscription recording Brother Owen ' s signal services to the Lodge . A company of sixty sat down to the banquet which followed , and some

interesting speeches were delivered by Sir Horatio Lloyd ( who is approaching his jubilee as a Mason , and has been a Provincial Officer for the long period of 42 years ) , Bro . J . Armstrong , and Bro . G . H . Brown . The speeches were interspersed with songs , contributed by Bros . D . P . Morgan , T . Ryde-Jones , E . Robinson , A . Millward , M . Calvert Sunter , and G . T . H . Lodge . Bro . R . Butterworth presided at the pianoforte .

EOYAL AECH . GALLERY CHAPTER , No . 1928 . A CON VOCATION of emergency was called for this Chapter , on Saturday afternoon , 30 th ult ., for the purpose of exalting three candidates already elected . The M . E . Z . Comp . John Read P . G . O . Grand Std . Br . England presided , and was assisted hy Comps . Percy Wallace Husk H ., J . J . Fretwell J ., E . E . Peacock P . Z . Treasurer , Herbert Wright P . Z . S . E ., Orlton Cooper S . N ., E . A . Peachey P . S .

There were also present Comps . H . Massey P . Z ., J . 0 . Manning P . Z ., T . G . Scott , H . L . Bell , J . D . Irvine , 0 . J . Sheddon Wilson , A . F . Robins , Geo . Tarron , C D . Gill , & c , together with tbe following visitors : —Comps . Chas . Bullock M . E . Z . 404 P . G . Std . Br ., W . J . Songhurst M . E . Z . 720 , W . VanPraag M . E . Z . 449 .

The Chapter having been duly opened , the Companions were admitted , and Bros . George Tarran I . P . M ., Samuel James W . M ., and George H . Ribbons , of the Gallery Lodge , who were balloted for and approved at the last regular convocation , were , introduced and regularly exalted into the Royal Arch degree . The ceremony was perfectly rendered by all the Officers concerned , and elicited the cordial commendation of the Companions .

There being no further business the Chapter was closed , and the members adjourned to the banquet room , where a recherche dinner was served . A pleasant surprise , was given to the Companions by the M . E . Z ., who provided a charming musical programme , in which Mrs . Read , Miss Annie Wilson , Miss Maude Home , Bro . Lawrence Fryer , and Mr . Musgrove Tufnail took part .

A MEETING was held on Monday , 2 nd inst ., at the Earl Derby , High Road , Kilburn , for the purpose of establishing a Lodge of Instruction in connection with the new Brondesbury Lodge , No . 2698 , which was consecrated by the Grand Secretary on nth March last . presided , supported by Bros . A . F . Hardyment S . W ., A . H . Oldrey S . D ., T . Battrum Stewd ., George Coxen Treas ., & c . The fdllowing Brethren were appointed the executive Officers of the Instruction Lodge : Bro . A . F . Hardyment

Bro . James Terry P . G . Sw . B . Sec . R . M . B . I . has kindly consented to inaugurate the new Lodge on Thursday , gth June , when he will rehearse the ceremonies of Consecration and Installation . The first regular meeting will be held the

following Wednesday , 15 th June , and subsequent gatherings each . Wednesday evening at 8 o ' clock . Brethren in the neighbourhood are cordially invited to join , and introduce their Masonic friends .

The new Lodge has already made a start in the all important matter of Masonic benevolence , by forming a Charitable Association on the usual lines , and we hope that in this particular , as well as in general matters , the Lodge may prove as great a success as its friends desire .
