MARK MASONRY .

— : o : — PROV . GRAND LODGE OF CORNWALL .

A PROVINCIAL Grand Lodgo and General Communication of Mark Master Masons for the province of Cornwall was held , on the 29 th nlfc ., afc the Godolp hin Hall , Helston , Bro . Sir Charles Brnne Gruves-Sawle Bart ., P . G . M ., presiding . There was a large

, attendance . The Lodge having been opened , and the minutes of the Provincial Grand Lodgo at Looe , in April 1889 having been read and confirmed , the report of the provincial Grand Treasnrer was received and adopted . It showed a balance in favour of the Lodge , which waa

subsequently voted to charitable purposes . The Prov . Grand Secretary , Bro . W . J . Johns , reported thafc all the Lodges of the Province were represented , numbering 12 , and they showed an increase of 36 members since lasfc year ' s meeting at Looe . In accordance with the recommendation

of the Provincial Grand Lodge at Looe , in April 1889 , fche patent appointing Bro . Sir C . B . G . Sawle Provincial Grand Master had been duly endorsed , re appointing him Provincial Grand Master for the ensuing three years . He also reported the consecration , on the 25 th February last ,

afc Penzance , of St . John the Baptist Lodge of Mark Masons , No . 404 , by the Provincial Grand Master , assisted by a large number of Provincial Grand Officers and other distinguished members of the Order throughout the Province . Invitations were made by Bros . Venning and

Watts to hold the next Provincial Grand Lodge meeting under the banner of St . Martin and Sfc . Austell Lodges respectively , bufc the Provincial Grand Master considered the application rather premature , and promised the invitations should bo duly considered . Five guineas were voted

to the Mark Masons' Benevolent Fund , and a similar sura to the Cornwall Masonic Annuity Fund . Bro . Nicholas West P . G . S . W . was presented with a Past Master ' s jewel by the members of Sfc . Michael ' s Lodge , as a token of regard for his constant attendance and the assistance he

had for years rendered fco the Lodge . Bro . West is now removed from the county , and his presence afc the Provincial meeting was a pleasant surprise to most of the

brethren . Bro . West acknowledged the presentation very feelingly . The nexfc business was tho appointment of Officers for the ensuing year by tho Provincial Grand Master , as follows : —

ROYAL MASONIC INSTITUTION FOR GIRLS .

ON Tuesday lasfc the prize winners of this year , and the first class girls , to the number of 50 , were very kindly entertained at Buccleugh House , Richmond , by Sir Wbittaker and Lady Ellis . They drove from the Institution , over Wimbledon Common , and through Richmond Park , reaching Richmond in time for dinner , at 1 o'clock . Sir Wbittaker had made all preparations , and intended

thafc they should have spent fche afternoon on fche river , but unfortun . ately the rain prevented this , and they had to keep indoors , where they amused themselves in closely investigating the numerous and interesting picluros and works of art possessed by thoir hosfc , whioh more than compensated for the river . Tea was partaken of afc five

o ' clock , and they reached home safely about 7 ' 30 , after having spent a most , enjoyable day , and one which will long be remembered in the annals of the Institution as a red letter day . Amongst the members of the House Committee who accepted Sir Wbittaker ' s invitation

were Bros . Thomas Penn ( Chairman of fche mouth ) , Sir John- Monckton , Frank Richardson , Charles Hammerton , Henry A . Hunt , Edward Letchworth , Peter de Lan ^ e Long , James Moon , and Hedges ( Secretary ) , who , together with Mi * s Da via and Miss Biuk , were entertained at dinner in tie evening by Sir Wbittaker and Lady Ellis .

Camden Lodgo of Instruction , No . 704 . —A meeting of this Lodgo was held on Thursday , the 5 th inst ., at the Lewieham Masonic Rooms ( adjoining the White Hurt Hotel , 116 High Street , LewfohQin , near tho Lcwiiham Junction Station ) , when there wero present Bros . A new Masonic Hall is proposed for Rochdale , Lancashire , a company having been formed , with a capital of £ 1000 in £ 1 shares , fco acquire the Old . Infirmary in Yorkshire Street in thab town , and adapt the building for

Masonic meetings and the purposes of a Social Masonic Club . There are three Craft Lodges and two Royal Arch Chapters in fche town itself , and these , with others in the immediate district , will doubtless provide sufficient support to . secure the success of the undertakincr .
