DOWNSHIRE LODGE , No . 594 . AT the Masonic Temple , Hope Street , Liverpool , Brother John Bellingham was installed as Worshipful Master of the Lodge . There was a large attendance of members and visiting Brethren . Bro . J . Bellingham was presented for installation by Bros . W . H . Veevers P . M . and A . Pedersen P . M . the Installing Masters being Bros . J . Phelan P . M . and E . R . Latham P . M . G . R ., who subsequently received the thanks of the Brethren for the able manner in which thoy performed thoir duties . The Officers were invested .

Before the business of the Lodge was concluded , the I . P . M . Bro . Smart was presented with a costly jewel in recognition of his services . The Brethren afterwards adjourned to the banqueting room , where Bro . Casey had provided an excellent repast , to which ample justice was done . As a mark of the high esteem in which

Bro . Smart was held , the Brethren of the Lodge subscribed for a presentation to Mrs . Smart , consisting of a pair of valuable bronze figures , which woro presented to Bro . Smart on behalf of his wife . The usual Masonic toasts were given , and an excellent programme rendered . o o o

ST . JOHN'S LODGE , No . 673 . THE Annual Installation meeting was held on the 3 rd inst ., at the Masonic Hall , Hope Street , Liverpool , where there was a gathering of nearly a hundred Brethren . Bro . William R . Roberts was installed Worshipful Master for thc ensuing year by Bro . T . Roberts P . M . D . C , and the Officers were invested .

In tho course of the proceedings Bro . John Wylie , the retiring Master , was presented with a valuable jewel as a mark of the respect in which he is held . An excellent banquet was supplied by Bro . J . Casey , and , under the direction of Bro . Hudson , a musical programme was gone through . o o o

DERBY LODGE , No . 724 . BRO . ARTHUR S . HEATH was installed as the Worshipful Master of this Lodge in the presence of about a hundred Brethren assembled in the Masonic Hall , Hope Street , LiverpoDl , on the 27 th ult . Ho was presented for instillation by Bros . G . Beeken P . M . P . A . G . S . and J . Comins P . M ., and the ceremony was ably conducted by tho retiring W . M . Bro . T . P . Hodgson .

The retiring Master was presented with a Past Master ' s jewel , and at the banquet with a splendid Past Master ' s apron , collar and jewel attached , and also with a pendant from the members he had initiated during his year of office . o o o

BEAUREPER LODGE , No . 787 . THE thirty-fifth Anniversary of this Lodge was held at the Lion Hotel , Bclper , on Thursday , the 28 th ult . Bro . Maurice Hunter was installed Worshipful Master , the ceremony being performed by Brothers J . Hunter , W . Glossop and E . J . H . Hoskyns .

Mr . Reason provided the banquet , and the musical part of thc ceremony was contributed to by Bros . W . W . Windle , J . T . Lee , J . Diamond and J . Dawes . o o o

ROYAL GLOUCESTERSHIRE LODGE , No . 839 . IN consequence of the Annual festival and Installation having been postponed , a Lodge of Emergency was held at the Bell Hotel , Gloucester , on Tuesday , 12 th ult ., to instal Bro . James Bruton P . M . P . S . G . W . as Worshipful Master . There was a large and distinguished gathering of Brethren of the Royal Gloucestershire and other Lodges of the Province .

Thc ceremony of installation was performed by Bro . Cotesworth Hill , the retiring Master . After thc Lorlge the Brethren aat down to a sumptuous banquet which was succeeded by the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts , and an excellent programme of music . Bro . James Bruton is to be congratulated upon occupying the Master ' s chair for the third time .

Miss Grimsteed was highly complimented upon the complete and highly satisfactory manner in which the banquet was served , reflecting the greatest credit upon her managerial abilities . o o o

ST . OSWALD LODGE , No . 850 . riIHE anniversary of this Lodgo was celebrated on tho 25 th ult . J _ ( the festival of St , John the Baptist ) , at Ashbornc . Bro . R . Beardmore was installed W . M . by Bro . W . H . Tutt P . P . G . O ., Bro . Percy Wallis acting as Dir . of Cer- ; . The company afterwards adjourned to the Green Man Hotel , where an excellent banquet had been prepared by the host .

o o 0 ST . AUBYN LODGE , No . 954 . ON the 26 th ult ., at Devonport , Bro . F . C . Huxham was installed W . M . by Bro . Staff-Commander J . R . W . Quinn , Commander of H . M . S . Hecate , and he subsequently appointed the Officers . In the evening the annual banquet was held at the Freemasons ' Hall , Plymouth .

SUN AND SECTOR LODGE , No . 962 . ON Wednesday afternoon , 20 th ult ., the annual Installation meeting was held in the Masonic Hall , Portland Square , Workington . There was a large attendance of Brethren from various parts of the county . Bro . Purser W . M . presided , ancl was supported by his Officers . Bro . John Paterson P . M . P . P . J . W . duly installed Bro . Alderman James Fletcher S . W ., and the Officers were invested .

The usual banquet was held at the Green Dragon Hotel , excellently served by the hostess , Mrs . Holliday . The Worshipful Master presided . Hearty congratulations were received from the various Lodges in Cumberland .

At the conclusion of the business connected with the Lodge there was a presentation , Bro . Purser being presented with a magnificent Past Master's jewel on the completion of his year of office . The usual Loyal and Masonic toasts wero honoured .

Thero was a good number of members , besides a numerous list of visiting Brethren . Tlie installation of Bro . Walter Strain as Worshipful Master was performed by Bro . W . Laycock P . M . P . P . G . St . B ., assisted by Bro . W . H . Dawson and Bro . T . Houlding . The newly-installed W . M . afterwards invested his Officers .

Later on the festival of St . John the Evangelist was celebrated , when the usual Masonic toasts were honoured , the banquet being partaken of at the Royal White Horse Hotel . o o o

CONCORD LODGE , No . 1135 . THE annual installation took place on the 25 th ult ., at llfracombe , when Bvo . Duncan Guilding was installed W . M , for the ensuing year by Bro . S . Jones P . P . J . G . W . of Exeter . After the ceremony the Officers were appointed . The installation banquet was afterwards held at the llfracombe Hotel , when a large number of Brethren were present from Barnstaple and Bideford . o o o

Avis presiding over a very large attendance , which comprised Visiting Brethren from the Provinces of Sussex , Kent , Surrey , and Middlesex , to welcome the incoming W . M . Bro . Frederic Wm . Hotham .

The ceremony of Installation was very ably perfoimed by Bro . Avis , assisted by the Very Rev . E . R . Currie , D . D ., P . G . Chaplain ( England ) , and Bro . William Lamboum P . M . P . P . G . P . The Provincial Grand Master , H . R . H . the Duke of Connaught , and the Deputy , Sir W . T . Marriott , Q . C , sent congratulations and

apologies for then * inability to attend , but the Officers of tho Province were well represented by the P . G . Secretary ( Bro . V . P . Freeman P . G . D . ) , the P . G . Chaplain ( Bro . the Rev . R . W . Loosemore , M . A ., P . M . 1184 ) , and tho P . G . S . Bearer ( Bro . W . T . Jordan P . M . 1184 ) , besides several Past Provincial Officers .

Thc meeting was followed by a banquet at the Star Hotel , which well sustained thc good reputation of the house . Bro . Hotham W . M . took thc chair , and over forty sat down . Tha musical arrangements were under the direction of Bro . J . Baker Guy , and included several pieces rendered in a most effective manner by Miss Louie Lovo , of Hastings . o o o

MARWOOD LODGE , No . 1244 . ON thc 3 rd inst ., the annual festival was held at the Masonic Hall , Redcar , when Bro . Joseph J . Jones was installed W . M . There were several Brethren present from thc Middlesbrough , Stockton , and Saltburn Lodges . The ceremony was performed by Lieut-Col . thc Hon . W . T . Orde-Powlett P . G . W . Eng . Deputy Provincial Grand Master N . and E . Yorks . The Officers were afterwards appointed .

The banquet was subsequently held at the Coatham Hotel , when tho W . M . presided , and thc usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured . o o o

DUNDAS LODGE , No . 1255 . npHE Annual meeting was held at the Masonic Hall , Princess JL Square , Plymouth , on the 18 th ult ., to instal Brother Dr . Edward G . Dutton S . W . as W . M . for the year ensuing . Brother Dutton being a very popular Mason there was a large attendance of Brethren .

In the evening the Brethren adjourned to the refectory of thc club for the annual banquet , Bro . S . Harvey , the Steward of tho club , serving up a sumptuous repast . Bro . S . B . Harvey P . M . and Secretary P . P . G . S . D . submitted

in cordial terms the health of the W . M . He had the pleasure of proposing Bro . Dr . Dutton for initiation in that Lodge , and for a young Mason to rise and be unanimously elected W .
