PIC-NIC TO ALDERLEY .

LAST year we gave particulars of a pic-nic , promoted by Bro . J . Townley Trotter , Brazennose Street , Manchester ( Ashbury Lodgo , No . 1159 ) , in connection with tho Richmond Building and other Societies . It was the first venture in this direction , and was so successful that Bro . Trotter repeated the experiment on Saturday afternoon . Members of his own office staff , comprising birr self , Bro . Geo . W . Davies , Ed . Matley , F . Fairclough , F . Lowe , E . ! Witney , and J . H . Riley , accompanied by representatives of thc

various companies with which Bro . Trotter is identified , proceeded to Alderley , where they took up their quarters at the Royal Oak . . The Richmond Building Society was represented by Messrs . W . Thc major portion of the afternoon was devoted to rambles amidst the varied scenery of the " Edge , " and to numerous games , whilst the penultimate hour was spent in tho very easy effort to do

ample justice to an excellent tea provided by the landlady . This was followed by a few speeches , principally directed towards the host of tho day , and mostly of a congratulatory character , to which Brother Trotter fittingly replied , thc whole being relieved by singing , & c . We must not forget to mention that Mr . Lowe , who had taken with him his camera , produced several excellent amateur photographic groups .

In conjunction with the Province of Cheshire an important meeting of the Committee of Benevolence has been held at Crewe , when a resolution was carried affirming the desirability of vesting the administration of the Cheshire Educational Masonic Institution and the Cheshire Masonic

. Benevolent institution m the aloresaid Committee of Benevolence , but so as in nowise to interfere with the rights or privileges of the Vice Presidents , Govenors for Life , & c .
