The report of tho Audit Committee was next presented , and adopted . The members then proceeded to elect a Tyler , and Bro . Banks was chosen

A most elegant Past Master ' s jewel , together with a Past Master's collar and silver jewel attached , was presented , in tho name of the Lodge , to Bro . Dean The following ia tho inscription : —

In making this presentation Bro . Festa assured Bro . D « an it afforded him intense personal gratification to hand him the Past Master ' s jewel . It had been unanimously voted by the brethren , for the able manner in which tho first Master had conducted the bnsiness , as well as for the eminent services be had rendered to the Lodge . He ( Bro . Festa ) hoped the G . A . O . T . U . would give him health and

strength tbat . be might wear it for many years , to bis own satisfaction , and to the honour of the brethren of the Lodge . Bro . Dean in reply said , he scarcely knew how to find words to return thanks He should at all time * wear the jewel with pride and pleasure , nnd should ever feel gratification in knowing he was the first Master of the Mon . tague Gnpst Lodge . The addresses were given in splendid style by

Bro . Dean , who was heartily congratulated on the completion of his labours . A proposition for a candidate for initiation at tho next meeting was handed in ; several letters of regret at inability to attend wore read , —notably from Bros . Alderman Knisht ( Lord Mayor Elect ) , Nicols , De La Coste , —and a communication from General Sir Henry Ponsonby , on behalf of the Qneen , thanking the brethren for tho vote of congratulation passed by the Lodiro on Her Most Gracious Majesty ' s providential escape from assassination . This letter was ordered to bo recorded on tho minutes . Shortly

afterwards hearty good wishes were tendered , and Lodge waa closed . The banqnet was served under the personal superintendence of Bro . Gosden , the manager of tbe Hotel , and groat credit is duo to him for his exertions . On rising to propose the first toast Bro . Festa said , the toast was one be always felt was done most honour to by the fewer the words in which it is given . Therefore , without anv further

preface , he would propose the health < f our Sovereign , Her Most Gracious Majesty the Qneen , tho Patroness of tho Craft . After the National Anthem , the W . M . submitted that of H . R . H . the Prince of Wale * Most Worshipful Grand Master . He felt convinced that in mentioning so august a name as that of our Snpreme Ruler the toast would be received with that enthusiasm which it deserves . In speaking to

the toast of the Pro Grand Master the Earl of Carnarvon , the Deputy Grand Master the Earl of Lathom , and the Grand Officers of England Present and Past , the W . M . said , of the Pro Grand Master it was unnecessary for bim to say much ; the brethren knew bow well his Lordship , in the absence of the Most Worshipful Grand Master , discharges the official dnties . His great ability and winning manners

leave nothing to be desired from him . They also know the Deputy Grand Master the Earl of Lathom , who is tho embodiment of ono of the hardest worked Masons in the country . Ho is the essence of what is desired in a gentleman , and is in every respect worthy of admiration . With respect to the other Grand Officers ; we are honoured to-day with the company of several . General Brownrigg

is deservedly popular in the Province over which he rales ; ho brings to bear the proper qualifications for a president , and this was notably instanced at the last Communication of the Grand Lodge . Brother Colonel Shadwell Gierke , the Grand Secretary , was onr Consecrating Officer , and we may take it he is satisfied with tho vvav in which this Lodge has been conducted ; this may be accepted

by the fact that ho is with ns to-day . Wo also have many other distin-nished Masons . Bro . Stevenson a Past G . M . of Canada , the Ron . Justice Prinsep D . G . M . Bengal , Captain Philips , the Revs . J . Studbolme Brownrigg and C . W . Arnold , besides many others . With a list of snch dimensions he knew he might commend the toast to their notice , and would call on General Brownrigg to respond . After a glee ,

General Brownrigg rose . J : To always thought the toast with which his name had been associated was a somewhat difficult , one to say any . thing new upon . The Grand Officers were burdened with great responsibilities ; this especially applied to those who held th ^ perma-• ent offices . They had , however , an inflnenco which the Craft at
