Samson Lodge , No . 1668 . AN emergency meeting was held on Tuesday , at the Cafe Royal , Regent Street , principally for the purpose of raising Bro . Henry Colin , son of the W . M ., before his departure from England for America . There were about thirty Brethren present , and punctually

Holz were examined , "and having answered the questions without any assistance were entrusted . The Lodge was opened in the third degree , and in a most touching and impressive manner those Brethren were raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason , father and son being visibly affected at the supreme moment in the ceremony .
After a few minutes interval Lodge was resumed in the first degree , and Bros . M . Freedman and E . Joseph answered their questions and were entrusted . Lodge was again opened in the second degree , and in due course those Brethren were passed Fellow Craft .
Lodge was again resumed to the first degree , and Mr . Morris Barnett , who was highly recommended , was presented as candidate , the ballot having previously proved to be unanimous in his favour . In due course he had the privilege of participating in the mysteries of the Craft . We have often referred to the good working of the W . M . : on
this occasion it was exceptionally impressive . After some important transactions the Lodge was closed , and the Brethren adjourned to partake of a nice sociable repast . We are pleased to offer ; our congratulations to Bro . Henry Cohn on being admitted to all the privileges of the Craft , and wish him a safe journey next week when he returns to America , and prosperity and health in that country . THE twenty-first festival of this excellent working Lodge was celebrated under the most auspicious circumstances last Saturday , at the Criterion Restaurant , Piccadilly Circus , W . Many Officers of Grand Lodge , including the Lord Mayor and Sheriffs , and several Masters , Past Masters and Brethren of other Lodges were present , the company numbering nearly a hundred .
The Lodge was opened by Bro . Lionel F . Gowing W . M ., with journalistic punctuality , and after the minutes had been disposed of , the ballot was taken on behalf of Messrs . Arthur Edwin Brown and
Percy Frederick Booty , both of whom were approved . These gentlemen being in attendance were admitted and regularly initiated as Apprentices to the Craft . Bro . Lucien Wolf was passed to the second degree , and invested as a Craftsman .
The principal business of the evening was then proceeded with . Bro . Gowing having declared all Offices vacant requested Bro . H . Massev P . M . to assist him as S . W ., Bro .-W . T . Perkins P . M . as J . W ., Bro . Percy W . Husk P . M . as D . C ., and Bro . Herbert Wright P . M . as I . G , Bro . Alfred F . Robbins W . M .-elect was now pre-

sented , and took the customary obligation with respect to his duties-He was then formally invested and installed in the presence of a large Board of Masters , who congratulated him upon his preferment . The ceremonies were rendered by Bro . Gowing in a very able manner , and his delivery of the Addresses evoked the highest commendation .

The Audit Committee presented their report , which was received and adopted . Bro . Robbins in highly complimentary terms referred to the excellent service rendered by the Immediate Past Master , and in the name of the Brethren presented him with the Past Master ' s jewel of the Lodge , for which Bro . Gowing pleasantly returned thanks .
A vote of condolence was passed to a highly esteemed Brother who had recently suffered a heavy domestic bereavement , - and there being no further business , the Lodge was closed , and the Brethren adjourned to the Victoria Flail , where the banquet was served . A most delightful evening followed , during which the usual complimentary speeches were interspersed by an excellent concert .
The musical entertainment was provided by the St . George ' s ( Windsor ) Glee Singers , under the direction of Bro . Bell Kempton while Bro . W . L . Barrett W . M . of the Savage Club Lodge kindly assisted with flute solos , and Bro . Harrison Hill with humorous sketches , both vocal and on the pianoforte , Bro . W . J . Barton acting as the accompanist .
Sir John Monckton responded to the toast of the Grand Officers , and Sir Joseph Dimsdale to a special toast of the Lord Mayor and Sheriffs , saying in the course of his reply that the Corporation of London and Freemasonry had always had similar objects—the bettering of the condition of the people , and benevolence .
Bro . Gowing I . P . M . proposed the W . M ., who , he said , had been , and still was the Treasurer of the Benevolent Fund , which had been the means of alleviating numerous cases of distress . They were all delighted that he was now in the Master's chair . Bro . Robbins responded , saying he was very proud of his position as the Master of his mother Lodge . On his initiation he was much
struck with the emphasising of charity , and he promised to strive to develop it . Owing to the kindness of the Brethren he had sustained and carried out this object for ten years . He had seen the Fund grow , although it had saved households from wreck , and families from being- broken up . In addition , it had been a large contributor to the Masonic Charities . In conclusion he announced

INSTRUCTION . — : o : — St . John Lodge , No . 167 . A VERY pleasant and interesting evening was provided at this Lodge of Instruction , held at the Old Court House , Harlesden , on Thursday , 5 th inst ., when , through the energy of the genial Secretary , the ceremom' of consecration , followed by that of
installation , was rehearsed for the first time , not by experienced Grand Officers , but by the members of the Lodge , and among those taking part none had passed the chair 'except Brother Secretary , to whose inception the idea was due , and who from his portly and commanding presence in Provincial Grand clothing made a first class Consecrating Officer .
There were over fifty Brethren present , who enjoyed a good Masonic social and instructive meeting , rendered exceeding ] }' attractive by the excellent singing of the quartette under the musical direction of Bro . J . F . Shotton . The consecrating vessels were kindly lent by Bros . Kenning .
The consecrating ceremony was rehearsed by Bro . F . S . Priest P . M . 16 37 and 2816 M . E . Z . 2202 P . G . Std . Br . Bucks ., assisted by Bros . F . Cave 1767 and T . D . 2816 as S . W ., F .
