song by Bro . Bale , who was ably accompanied by Bro . Seymour Smith , Bro . Cooper I . P . M ., with great pleasure , rose to propose the health of the W . M . Bro . Child had worked in every office ; he had now attained the proud position of Master , and though he had as vet presided over them but a very short time , the brethren had seen his capacity . The members would , he was sure , support him

during his year of office as they had the brother who had preceded him . After Bro . Seymour Smith had favoured the brethren with his ever popular song , " Mrs . Brown's Dinner Party , " the W . M . replied . He had to return his heartfelt thanks for the manner in which his health had been proposed . His first feeling was one of gratitnde to them for electing him as W . M . He was sure the officers he had selected

would support him , and that he should be able to carry out the duties of the Lodge . The W . M . then proposed the toast of the Visitors . They had many distinguished brethren who had honoured them by their presence ; the members were pleased to see them all . However , many there would miss one familiar face ; one who had frequently visited them ; one whose genial face was always welcome ;

the brother he referred to had been called away by death , —their late respected Bro . Davis . May bis soul rest in peace ! However , he would pass from this mournful theme , and ask Bros . Wilson , Stamwitz , Cooper , and Levy to respond . The toast received full honours , and the several brethren mentioned heartily acknowled the kind reception that had been accorded them . The next toast was the health

of the Immediate and other Past Masters . No better members than were to be found among that body could any Lodge possess . After a song by Bro . Lyon , Bro . Cooper responded . He felt it most pleasurable to join the ranks of the Past Masters of such a Lodge . Personally he did not think the new W . M . required much assistance ; but should he at any time require them , the services of any of the

P . M . ' s were at his disposal . He might remark incidentally that the jewel they had presented to him ( Bro . Cooper ) would always bo prized , and , he hoped , in due course would be handed down to his children . He trusted he might be spared to wear it with them many years . The W . M . in proposing the toast of the Treasurer and Secretary , Bros . Kench and Sly , remarked that these worthy brethren had

already been included with the Past Masters . In their individual capacities , no better working officers could bo found ; indeed , the Lodge might feel itself honoured by their acceptance of office . In responding , Bro . Kench said Bro . Quitman had signified his intention to act as Steward for the Boys' School ; he trusted the brethren would support him so that the Lodge might not be ashamed of the amount

subscribed . The W . M . in proposing the toast of the Officers said no better workers could be found than Bros . Humphreys and Skinner the S . W . and J . W . They , as well as the Juniors , knew their duties thoroughly ; he hoped each would eventually occupy the chair . The toast was responded to , and Bro . Langdon Dawke had great pleasure in informing the brethren that £ 5 5 s , from the Lodge of

Instruction , would be placed on the list of Bros . Kench and Quitman , joint Stewards . Alfred Walter ' s hostelry , the Green Dragon , Stepney , with the greatest eclat—close upon 100 brethren of all ranks joining in making it the most successful installation meeting on record . Bro . J . S . Taylor P . M . W . M . opened the Lodge at an early hour in the afternoon , for although an emergency meeting had judiciously lessened the business to be transacted , an initiation being expected
