A word of praise is due to the W . M . for tho very able manner in which ho

gave each Officer a resume of the duties he would be required to discharge in the Lodge . The charges were next delivered to the W . M ., the Wardens , and the brethren , by Bro . Stevens , in his usually effective and deliberate manner , and listened to with the utmost attention by nearly one hundred brethren . At its conclusion the silence gave place to a burst of well-merited applause as Bro . Stevens

resumed his seat among his brother P . M . 's , of whom it was gratifying to see that all of that body now alive were present , to the number of one dozen . The pleasurable duty of presenting , in the name of the Lodgo , a P . M . jewel to Bro . J . S . Taylor I . P . M . was next performed , and the recipient having expressed his high appreciation of this mark of esteem from the brethren , other business matters were disposed of ,

and Lodge was closed with prayer , and adjourned . The cordiality and harmony of this great gathering cannot fail to mako this meeting memorable in the annals of the Lodge , as being characterised by real Masonic feeling , combined with the excellent working for which the Yarborough Lodge is famous . In connection with this we may mention , that the Worshipful Master and nearly all the

Officers attend at the Lodge of Instruction , held on Tuesday evenings , of which Bro . J . J . Berry P . M . is fie Preceptor . On repairing to the new Salle d manger the brethren found Bro . A . Walter engaged in arranging a problem of some difficulty . On the authority of Cooker , two into one won't go , but our worthy host having set the tables for about four score , found himself called upon ,

at the last moment , to seat an additional twenty . Thanks , however , to the resources of Bro . Host , the tact of the Past Masters , and the self-denial of two of the Junior Officers , all the guests were seated . Grace was said by Bro . Shaboe , and ample justice was done to a choice and varied menu , which was served under Bro . Walter ' s superintendence . After the banquet , the usual Loyal and Craft toasts

were given , and met with a hearty response . In toasting the W . M ., Bro . J . S . Taylor said , the brethren were all well aware for what purpose he held the gavel in his hand , for the first time as their I . P . M ., and that it was his duty and privilege to propose the health of their W . M . They must all feel they were most fortunate in the choice of a W . M . He had worked through all grades from I . G ., and

he ( Bro . Taylor ) wished him every success . He had started fairly , had been honoured by a large attendance that evening , and he hoped when Bro . Walter left the chair he would have as large , or even a larger number of brethren to pay him and the Lodge a compliment . Bro . Walter here obliged by a capital rendering of the " Midshipmite . " The W . M . then thanked the I . P . M . and brethen for the

cordial manner in which the toast had been given and received . He assured them he had long aspired to work hard for the proud position he had just gained , and would strive to do all in his power to render his year of office a successful and satifactory one to the brethren . Bro . Walter concluded by thanking Bro . P . M . Stevens for the kind manner in which he had installed him that evening . After a song

from Bro . P . M . Berry , Bro . Walter , in toasting the Past Masters , said they made a grand and imposing array . He was proud to say every P . M . living was present , from Bros . Wynn , Kindred , and Middleton . He esteemed it a very great honour to be supported by so many P . M . 's , all of whom had rendered whatever service the W . M . and the Lodge had required . Bro . P . M . J . H . Thorn sang the

favourite song , " The Wolf , " accompanied by Bro . Seddon , in his most able manner . After replies from several of the Past Masters , the Visitors were honoured , Bro . Sparks singing " The Pilgrim of Lo * e " with much effect . This toast , the W . M . said , was a very important one indeed . He considered the Lodge was greatly honoured by the large number of brethren who had attended that

evening . The toast was most heartily received , and after a song from Bro . Serjeant , Bro . P . M . Godwin responded for the toast . Bro . Greenwood favoured the brethren with a comical rendering of " The Merry Little Fat Grey Man . " Introducing the Masonic Charities , the W . M . sa'd he would abstain from saying much about them , as he was going to call upon Bros . G . Hollington and J . G .

Stevens to speak fully upon the merits and claims of the three great Masonic Institutions . Bro . G . Hollington W . M . of the Doric Lodge was going to act as Steward for the Yarborongh and Doric Lodges , Bro . P . M . Stevens was also going up again for the Old People . Bro . Hollington being called on to respond to the toast , said he thought the reply had better come from Bro . Stevens , who had gained much

experience . Bro . Stevens thus appealed to , gave the brethren an exhaustive account of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , finishing by making a serious claim upon the brethren of the Yarborongh Lodge for tb & r snpport , and with much chivalrous feeling he powerfully solicited on behalf of Bro . Hollington ' s list . The Lodge had granted a ten guinea donation previously . The toast

of the Officers was next honoured , and responded to . The hour waxing late , the Tyler was summoned , and the final toast given . Great credit is due to Bro . Walter for making the brethren so comfortable , and a word of praise is due to Bros . J . Taylor J . D . and J . R . Shingfiold I . G . for their untiring exertions as Stewards

throughout the evening to minister to the wants of the brethren and visitors . A more happy and pleasant evening could hardly have been spent , while Bro . Seddon ' s exertions added much to the general enjoyment . In the absence of the Signature Book , our list of Visitors is unavoidably a partial one . 1421 , acting as D . C , presented Bro . G . Robey S . W . and W . M . elect , who was then duly installed by Bro . rank of Installed Master retired , and a Board of Installed Masters being formed , the W . M . elect was duly placed in the chair of K . S . The brethren were re-admitted , and the newly installed W . M . saluted , proclaimed , and greeted in the East , West , and South . the ancient charges to the Wardens and brethren in a most impressive manner , the Lodge was closed in harmony . The brethren afterwards repaired to the Castle Hotel , where a sumptuous repast awaited them , presided over by the newly-initiated W . M ., Bro . John Alfred Whittle . After the banquet , tbeusnal loyal and patriotic toasts were given and duly honoured . The W . M ., in proposing the

Provincial Grand Master , the Deputy Provincial Grand Master , and Officers of the Provincial Grand Lodge , said the Lodge was greatly indebted to Bro . Tennant D . P . G . M . for his attendance there that e vening ; that was bis fourth visit , and he hoped the Lodge Would have the pleasure of his company as often in the future as in the past . Bro . Tennant , in responding , said that it gave him great

pleasure in visiting the Loyal Brecknock , and that he endeavoured to pay each Lodge in the Province at least one visit during the year . Bro . Tennant then proposed the health of the W . M ., and dwelt on the zeal and ability he had displayed since he had become a member of the Lodge . He ( Bro . Tennant ) felt sure that under their W . M . ' s guidance all the ceremonies would be most efficiently rendered . To

this toast the brethren present responded most heartily . In reply , Bro . Whittle thanked the brethren for their cordial reception of the toast , stating it would be his earnest endeavour to prove himself worthy of the dignified position in which they had placed him , and that he would ever have the interest of the Lodge at heart . Bro . Mayberry then proposed the Masonic Charities , and conpled the name

of Bro . Tennant D . P . G . M . and Charity Commissioner , who duly responded . The next toast , the I . P . M . and the P . M . ' s , was proposed by Bro . John Morgan S .
