THE Quarterly Court of the Governors and Subscribers of the Koyal Masonio Institution for Girls was held last Saturday , at Freemasons' Hall . Bro . Lieut-Colonel Creaton ( Grand Treasurer ) , Vice-President and Trustee , presided . There were also present Bros . A . H . Tattershall , Thomas Massa , A . J . Duff-Filer , S .

Eawson , H . Massey , Arthur E . Gladwell , E . Letchworth , Joshua Nnnn , J . J . Berry , and F . B . W . Hedges Secretary . Twenty-eight candidates were declared on the list for the April election , and 15 children to be elected . Bro . Joshua Nnnn

moved" That the following words be added to Law LXXIL , after the word ' provision , ' viz ., ' and in cases of exceptional merit and necessity , the General Committee are authorised to increase the sum to an amount not exceeding £ 40 . '" He explained that several brethren who opposed it at the last

Quarterly Court misunderstood that the motion was to give power to the Committee to grant £ 40 to all girls when they left the Institution . That was not so ; it would only be granted in very exceptional cases . It had been so misunderstood by Bro . Henry Smith , Prov . Grand Secretary for West Yorkshire , but he cordially

supported the motion now that he knew its real import . Bro . A . E . Gladwell seconded the motion . He also had misunderstood it at first , but he supported it now . It was only lost on the last occasion by a very small majority . Bro . Filer did not approve of the Pupils ' Assistance Fund . Giving help to pupils should be left in the hands

of those who were fully acquainted with the girls . He hoped the present motion would put an end to tho fourth Charity , which , he believed would be very detrimental to the Institutions . He never

had subscribed to the Pupils' Assistance Fund , and never would . Those who were selected to carry out the affairs of the Institution had the confidence of the subscribers , and would not exercise their powers too often . Only in exceptional cases would they grant the

That was not so ; it would only be granted in very exceptional cases . It had been so misunderstood by Bro . Henry Smith , Prov . Grand Secretary for West Yorkshire , but he cordially

supported the motion now that he knew its real import . Bro . A . E . Gladwell seconded the motion . He also had misunderstood it at first , but he supported it now . It was only lost on the last occasion by a very small majority . Bro . Filer did not approve of the Pupils ' Assistance Fund . Giving help to pupils should be left in the hands

of those who were fully acquainted with the girls . He hoped the present motion would put an end to tho fourth Charity , which , he believed would be very detrimental to the Institutions . He never

had subscribed to the Pupils' Assistance Fund , and never would . Those who were selected to carry out the affairs of the Institution had the confidence of the subscribers , and would not exercise their powers too often . Only in exceptional cases would they grant the
