Master of Hampshire and tho Isle of Wight for twenty-ono years . After the Lodge , a banquet was served in the Assembly Rooms , by Bro . Young , whose catering was in every way satisfactory . The W . M . presided , and the usual Loyal and Masonio toasts were honoured . Bro . Wilton ' s string band gave a choice selection of run sic during the banquet .

WELLINGTON LODGE , No . 341 .

rpEE installation meeting took place at tho Cinque Ports' Arms JL Hotel , Rye , on Wednesday afternoon , the 5 th inst . Tho Lodge was opened by the W . M . Bro . i . Holiness Jenkins . After the usual routine business , the W . M . stated that as his year of office was about to expire he wished to nmko the Lodge some present , which would serve to remind the members of his Mastership , and at tho

same time bo a memorial of one who had rendered great services to the Lodge during the past year . He therefore asked tho brethren to accept from him a portrait of their Bro . W . Dawes Past Provincial Grand Senior Warden , a Past Master of the Lodge , and several other Lodges , and who had acted as Secretary for many years . lie then formally presented the portrait , duly framed . Bro . J .

Bellingham then proposed that a vote of thanks be givou to the W . M . for his handsome present , which was duly put to the meeting by the Senior Warden , and carried unanimously . Bro . W . Dawes feelingly acknowledged the compliment paid him , and trusted he might be spared many years to assist the Lodge . The W . M . then proceeded

to instal as W . M . Bro . Lieutenant Colonel A . M . Brookfiold , M . P ., and performed the ceremony throughout in a faultless style , delivering the addresses in a manner which was perfect . W ., who , in his reply , stated that he had been requested by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master to express his extreme regret

that an engagement of long standing at Ashby do la Z > uch prevented him from being present . Bro . Pocock thanked tho W . M . for an allusion he had made to his late father , who always took a great interest in tho Wellington Lodge , and expressed a hope that the Lodge might prosper . Tho health of tho Visitors having been proposed by Bro . Francis Bellinghain , Bros . R . Clowes and W . S .. Allen

severally returned thanks . The other toasts were tho health of tho W . M ., who acknowledged the toast in a kind and hearty manner , tho P . M . 's , and the Officers of the Lodge , after whioh tho Tyler ' s toast finished the evening , tho proceeding of which were of a most enjoyable character , the Past Masters exerting themselves for tho comfort of thoso present .

BEDFORDSHIRE LODGE OF ST . JOHN , No . 475 .

ON Friday , tho 7 th inst ., the Luton brethren gave a ball at the Town Hall , which was a marked success . About 160 ladies and gentlemen attended . A covered way led from the carriages to the doorway , and tho staircase was laid with carpet and lined with rows of pretty foliage plants and gaily-coloured flowers . Tho upper room , in which the dancing took place , was very handsomely decorated . Numerous flags of various colours bespangled the walls , with heraldic

shields and trophies of bannerettes effectively appearing at intervals , while large mirrors placed here and there lent additional sparkle to the scene . All round the top of the wainscot ran a tasteful arrange - ment of art muslin , aud the windows were draped with fanoy curtains . Several mottoes in bold letters could be read on the walls , these including such appropriate Masonio sentiments as " Prudence ,

Temperance , Fortitude , and Justice , "Faith , Hope , and Charity , " " Brotherly Love , Relief , and Truth . " Conspicuous features in the ornamentation also were the representations of various tools , emblematic of Masonry and the fellow Crafts . The floor was laid with a dancing cloth , while Willshaw ' s band , from Bedford , ensconced among a rich display of plants and flowers on the platform , discoursed

splendid music . The supper and refreshments took place in the Council Chamber below , whioh was fitted up and furnished as a buffet , the catering being ontrus ' ed to the Army and Navy Stores , London . Smoke and retiring rooms were provided , as well as every convenience which thought could suggest for ensuring the company a pleasant evening . The decorations were carried out by Mr . S . C .

Oliver . Dancing commence ! at half-past eight , and was continued till an early hour in the morning . The Stewards were the following Past Masters of the Lodge : —Bros . J . Cumberland , J . that an engagement of long standing at Ashby do la Z > uch prevented him from being present . Bro . Pocock thanked tho W . M . for an allusion he had made to his late father , who always took a great interest in tho Wellington Lodge , and expressed a hope that the Lodge might prosper . Tho health of tho Visitors having been proposed by Bro . Francis Bellinghain , Bros . R . Clowes and W . S .. Allen

severally returned thanks . The other toasts were tho health of tho W . M ., who acknowledged the toast in a kind and hearty manner , tho P . M . 's , and the Officers of the Lodge , after whioh tho Tyler ' s toast finished the evening , tho proceeding of which were of a most enjoyable character , the Past Masters exerting themselves for tho comfort of thoso present .

BEDFORDSHIRE LODGE OF ST . JOHN , No . 475 .

ON Friday , tho 7 th inst ., the Luton brethren gave a ball at the Town Hall , which was a marked success . About 160 ladies and gentlemen attended . A covered way led from the carriages to the doorway , and tho staircase was laid with carpet and lined with rows of pretty foliage plants and gaily-coloured flowers . Tho upper room , in which the dancing took place , was very handsomely decorated . Numerous flags of various colours bespangled the walls , with heraldic

shields and trophies of bannerettes effectively appearing at intervals , while large mirrors placed here and there lent additional sparkle to the scene . All round the top of the wainscot ran a tasteful arrange - ment of art muslin , aud the windows were draped with fanoy curtains . Several mottoes in bold letters could be read on the walls , these including such appropriate Masonio sentiments as " Prudence ,

Temperance , Fortitude , and Justice , "Faith , Hope , and Charity , " " Brotherly Love , Relief , and Truth . " Conspicuous features in the ornamentation also were the representations of various tools , emblematic of Masonry and the fellow Crafts . The floor was laid with a dancing cloth , while Willshaw ' s band , from Bedford , ensconced among a rich display of plants and flowers on the platform , discoursed

splendid music . The supper and refreshments took place in the Council Chamber below , whioh was fitted up and furnished as a buffet , the catering being ontrus ' ed to the Army and Navy Stores , London . Smoke and retiring rooms were provided , as well as every convenience which thought could suggest for ensuring the company a pleasant evening . The decorations were carried out by Mr . S . C .
