tho Craft , proposed from the ohair , was duly honoured , and the Worshipful Master next submitted the toast of the evening , and the health of Bro . J . W . Tindell , in folioitou 8 terms . Musical and Masonic honours followed , and Bro . Tindell duly acknowledged the compliment . Songs and recitations followed , and tho evening from commencement to close turned out to be a thorongh and pronounoed suocess .
Vli'RUYIAN LODGE , No . 87 . NOTWITHSTANDING tho fact that the members of this popular Lodge have ample grounds wheroon to base their claim for a prior existence , the date of the warrant under which the Lodge works is as reoent as 1810 , consequently some years must yot elapse oro the Lodge can aeoure tho Centenary Warrant so many of tho members are desirous to obtain . The Lodge has throughout its
existence been essentially a London one , and though it has ohanged its locale some dozen or fourteen times , it has invariably kept within measurable distance of the headquarters of English Freemasonry , viz ., Great Queen Street , Linooln ' s Inn Fields . At the present time the Lodge meets at the Bridge House Hotel , London Bridge , where the esteemed proprietor , Bro . Pearce , has placed at the disposal of
the brethren ample accommodation for all Masonic business . The installation meeting took place on Wednesday , when the Lodge was opened by the W . M . Bro . Bale now took the chair , for the purpose of installing tho new Master . Bro . P . M . Stuart acting asD . of C . introduced the W . M . elect Bi-o . John Irving , who was formally obligated . In due course a Board of Installed
Masters was formed , and Brother Irving was placed in tbe chair . The lay brethren were now re-admitted and the new Master was saluted in the three degrees . Lambourno gave tho several addresses in a truly eloquent manner , and was heartily complimented at the close of the ceremony . serions illness illness of au esteemed brother was referred to , and the Secretary was desired to send a letter of congratulation to him on his improved condition of health . With respect to the votes of tho Lodge , a lengthened discussion arose , as to which of the candidates for the Benevolent Institution should receive them . We would nrgo on tho brethren of this Lodge the desirability of united action if
they desire to carry their candidates . It is in this direction oni Provincial brethren are so successful . Where a division of opinion exists it often happens both candidates suffer . After routine work Lodge was closed . An elaborate and well-served banquet followed , and at its close the W . M . rose to give the Loyal toast . Bro . Irving stated it was his intention to restrain the eloquence of the speakers .
For himself , he intended to bo brief , and he felt sure the comfort of tbe brethren would be enhanced if his example were followed . He called on them to drink to tho health of Her Majesty the Queen , and to wish Prosperity to the Craft . The toast was hoartily greeted , as were also those given in honour of the M . W . the Grand Master , the Pro Grand Master , the Deputy
Grand Master , and the Grand Officers pros-out and past . Bro . Lambonrne proposed the health of tho W . M . in brief , but highly compliineulary terms , and in his reply Bro . Irving , after thanking the J . P . M . for his kindly expressions , said he looked around him With mingled feelings of satisfaction . Physically , he felt strong ; eloquently , he knew he was weak . In giving the toast of the Past Masters the W . M . oxpressed his regret that there were so many absenteos . He then presonted Bro . Lambourne with the jewel unanimously voted by tho Lodge , which all agreed was a well deseved tribute for excellent services rendered . Reference was also made to the assiduity and deep interest taken by
the treasurer and Secretary in their respective duties . Bro . Lambourne having made suitable response , Bro . Stuart acknowledged tho compliment paid him , and assured the brethren the Lodge Bhould I always have his best services . Other toasts followed . The proceedings throughout were enhanced by some capital songs and recitations , and it was a late hour when the brethren separated .
