ROYAL MASONIC INSTITUTION FOR GIRLS .

THE final meeting of the Board of Stewards of the recent Festival of this Institution has been held , everything being concluded in a most satisfactory manner . There was a large surplus remaining from the Stewards' fees , no less

than 325 guineas from that source being handed over for the general purposes of the Charity . Naturally mutual congratulations were the outcome of so satisfactory a record , the Chairman and his Province of Kent , as well as the Secretary Bro . F . R . W . Hedges being particularly complimented on the results achieved .

THE annual athletic sports of the pupils of the Masonic Orphan Boys School , Dublin , will De held on Saturday , 22 nd inst , and should the weather prove propitious the sports

will , no doubt , be attended as usual by a large number of the members of the Craft and their friends . The grounds , worthy of a visit at all times , are now looking at their best . The newly-erected School buildings , so effectively planned by Messrs . Kaye , Parry , and Ross , are now , under

their supervision , practically complete , and form an addition of which the Governors are justly proud . It will be remembered that iit was the intention of the Governors of the School to hold a bazaar in the year 1900 for the purpose of enabling them to mark the completion of the century by

building- at Richview a suitable schoolhouse and classrooms , but owing to the sum demanded by the Council of the Royal Dublin Society— £ 500 for one week ' s use of their premises at Ball ' s Bridge—the Governors determined to' relinquish

their project and to appeal to their Brethren for a capital sum of £ 5 , 000 to provide the necessary additions , so . as to make the Schoolroom and classrooms suitable to the buildings forming the dwellinghouse , and worthy of our great Order .

That the Governors were not mistaken in the confidence they were placing in their Brethren is proved by the fact that the appeal has been nobly responded to , in that , though only asked for £ 5 , 000 , they have promised a sum exceeding

£ 9 , , and of this £ 8 , 700 has already been paid into the office of the School . The Governors have reason to hope that when these added buildings are being formally opened in August a very large number of the Brethren will be induced to attend the ceremony .

Lady Plunket has kindly promised to distribute the prizes ( educational and athletic ) at the conclusion of what , should the weather only be favourable , will prove a very pleasant afternoon to the supporters of the School and their friends .

THE half-yearly meeting of the Board of Governors of the Masonic Female Orphan School was held at the Schoolhouse , Ball ' s Bridge , when the report of the scrutineers of the ballot for the election of seven pupils from the list of candidates was read .

It was resolved that in consequence of additional vacancies having arisen , the nine candidates who obtained the highest number of votes be elected .

****************** The members of the Dundas Lodge , No . 1255 , met on the 20 th ult ., at the Freemasons' Hall , Plymouth , and unanimously elected Bro . J . H . Pearce J . W . as Master for the ensuing year . Bro . John Wallis P . P . G . Std . Br . was selected

as Treasurer . The services of the retiring W . M . Bro . E . J . Jarvis were recognised by the Lodge , which voted ten guineas for the provision of a Past Master ' s collar and jewel . This token of esteem is in addition to a Life Governorship in the Devon Masonic Educational Fund , presented to Brother Jarvis in February last . The Brethren decided to have a summer outing , to which their lady friends will be invited ,
