Erakine-Stuart , L . R . C . P . L . R . C . S . and F . S . A . Edinburgh , was proposed for initiation by Bro . Lindley , and the proposition was very cordially received . A resolution was also passed that a congratulatory address be forwarded from the members of 971 to the Most Worshipful Grand Master , Bro .

H . R . H . the Prince of Wales on the marriage of H . R . H . tho Duko of York . After hearty good wishes the Lodge vvas closed and the brethren adjourned for refreshment , after whioh the usual Loyal and Masonio toasts were proposed . Bro . , adjourned to the AVhite Swan Hotel , where the banquet was admirably served at 6 * 30 p . m . The Worshipful Master presided , and the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured . The whole party then visited fche places of iut -rest named in fche carefully-prepared aud splendid programme , whioh included fche Cathedral , Castlo , Water Tower , and King

Charles Tower on the waits , Palace of the Stanleys , and God ' s Providence House . At 1 * 30 p . m . the party went aboard tha new twin screw steamer , " Ormonde , " and proceeded up the river to Eaton Hall , where they were received by the officials , of the Marquis of Westminster , who showed the interior of this palatial residence . Returning btck to Chester by the " Ormonde , " dinner was served afc

the Albion Hotel , at 5 * 30 p . m , and the return journey was commenced afc 7 * 35 p . m ., arriving afc Halifax at 10 * 30 p . m . The whole of the proceedings were carried oufc under the indefatigable attentions of the AVorshipful Master Bro . Newton Brooke , and his Officers , particularly Bros . Dalzell , Daniels , Crossland , Booth , Hack , ' and Maxwell , and this pic-nio will long live in the memory of those whose pleasure aud privilege it was to be present .

That this Lodge continues to increase in popularity was evidenced by the fact fchafc fche principal work of the evening consisted in balloting for two joining members , viz ., Brothers Charles J . Sassoon and A . Sgal , merchant ;? , and fche initiation of Mr . Frederick

Stern , a gentleman well known in fche commercial circles of Manohester . The ceremony was undertaken by Bro . L . Frankenstein P . M ., he being assisted by Bro . George Board P . M ., who presented the working tools , and Bro . S . Mamlook P . M . who rendered the ancient charge . It would almost be au act of supererogation fco to attempt to criticise Officers like these , whose work is of a

superlative obaraoter , fche surest indicia of earnest study and careful preparation . Afc the festive board whioh followed , fche nsual Loyal and Masonio toasts were given , after which Bro . Frankenstein proposed the health of tbe newly-initiated Brother , and Bro . Board proposed fchafc of fche newly-joined brother , Bros . Stern and Sassoon responding to the respective toasts . Bro .
