We shall be pleased to receive particulars of Masonic meetings for insertion in our columns , and where desired will endeavour to send a representative to report Lodge or other proceedings . — —

ROBERT BURNS LODGE , No . 25 . THE regular meeting of this popular Lodge of Instruction was held at the Frascati Restaurant , Oxford Street , on Tuesday , and many Brethren being anxious to witness the working of Bro . McYey as W . M . there was a good attendance . Those who were present were not disappointed in their anticipation , as tho working of the ceremonies by the W . M . was rendered in a most faultless manner . Bro . Romilly was passed and Bro . Kelly was raised . Bro . Trumann was unanimously elected W . M . for next meeting .

Those present included Bro . Trumann S . W ., A . Pettit J . W ., J . Casely P . M . Sec , E . C . Mulvey P . BI . Preceptor , C . Bonham P . M . S . D ., E . Watts J . D ., J . A . Mysoule I . G ., Wynman , Bomilly , Kelly , Sillitoe , Henson , T . Edmonds , Watts jun ., and several others . This was the first appearance of Bro . Casely as Secretary of the Lodge . We wish him a long tenure of the office , feeling assured he will work for its interests .

ST . JAMES UNION LODGE , No . 180 . rpHE regular weekly meeting was held on Monday , at the St . James JL Eestaurant , Piccadilly , under the presidency of Bro . Kelly , who was supported by Bro . Moss as S . W . and several others . After some interesting work the Senior Warden , with the assistance of the Brethren , worked tbe second section of the lecture , Bro . Sandland

worked the third , and the Preceptor the fourth , all being most ably rendered . Bro . Wynman was unanimously elected an honorary member of the Lodge , and acknowledged the compliment . Bro . Isaac Moss was chosen to preside at the next meeting , on Monday , when we hope there will be a good attendance .

JORDAN LODGE , No . 1402 . AT the usual meeting at the Masonic Hall , Torquay , on the 11 th inst ., the W . M . Bro . George West presiding , Bro . T . J . Grossman S . W . was elected W . M . for the ensuing year . Bro . Samuel Wills was re-elected

UNITY LODGE , No . 1637 . THE regular meeting was held at the Bailway Hotel , Harrow , on Saturday , 8 th inst ., under the presidency of Bro . Stephen Hussey W . M ., who was supported by Bros . F . S . Priest S . W ., A . Jones J . W ., H . Slyman P . M .

Bro . J . S . Priest S . W . was unanimously elected W . M . and Bro . H . Slyman P . M . re-elected Treasurer . After the work of the Lodge , the Brethren retired to the banqueting hall , were an excellent repast was served under the personal direction of Host Mr . C . W . Howell , who was highly complimented for the excellent menu he provided . The viands and wine were all that could be desired .

BIRKBECK BUILDING SOCIETY . THE forty-fifth annual meeting of this Society was held on the 2 nd ult ., at the Offices , 29 and 30 Southampton Buildings , Chancery Lane . The report adopted states that the total receipts from all sources during the year have reached the large sum of £ 14 , 563 , 877 , exceeding by more than one hundred thousand pounds the aggregate receipts of all the Incorporated Building Societies in the United Kingdom—numbering 2 , 414—as shown by the Chief Begistrar ' s return , presented to Parliament on the 16 th July

lastyear . The deposits received during the year have amounted to £ 12 , 815 , 129 , and the subscriptions to £ 208 , 047 , and , after allowing for withdrawals , a net increase is shown over the preceding year of £ 1 , 142 , 832 , bringing up the total liabilities on subscriptions and deposits to £ 8 , 075 , 088 .

The amount invested during the year in the purchase of Government and other stocks has been £ 2 , 097 , 717 , and the sum standing to the credit of those funds , including £ 607 , 844 cash at bankers , now reaches the total of £ 7 , 834 , 860 , which amount is exclusive of £ 610 , 686 balance due on mortgages , making the total assets £ 8 , 445 , 546 .

Of this last-named amount upwards of two millions and a quarter ( £ 2 , 267 , 806 ) are inscribed in the books of the Governor and Company of the Bank of England ; whilst the amount invested in consols and other British Government securities is £ 1 , 571 , 992 . There has been a large accession of members during tho past year , numbering 2 , 207 . In the banking department 2 , 039 current accounts , and 7 , 964 deposit accounts , have been opened , making together 12 , 210 new accounts .

The number of shareholders now on the register is 12 , 076 , current accounts 16 , 679 , and depositors 46 , 306 , making a total of 75 , 061 members and depositors . The number of shares in existence at the close of thc year is 61 , 114 .

Reports Of Meetings.

Since its establishment , the Society has returned to the shareholders and depositors more than one hundred and sixty-six millions ( £ 166 , 249 , 843 ) the whole amount having been repaid upon demand . The amount advanced to borrowers has been £ 2 , 827 , 732 , and the amount of interest and bonus paid to investors an 1 depositors is nearly three millions sterling , the exact figures being £ 2 , 828 , 972 . The balance in excess of liabilities is £ 370 , 458 .
