The Treasurer ' s report was presented , and showed that the Chapter had wiped off the heavy arrears , and was now practically free from debt . The M . E . Z . expressed his satisfaction at tho result that had been achieved by the members , and was sure the entire Chapter were also gratified . There being no further business before the convocation , tho Chapter was closed in due form , and the meeting adjourned .

Letters of regret for inability to attend were received from Comp . Sir A . F . Godson , M . P ., Grand Superintendent of Worcestershire , and Comp . T . F . Halsey , M . P ., Grand Superintendent of Hertfordshire , both of whom hoped to be present on some future occasion . The members and thejr Visitors afterwards dined together , and enjoyed a pleasant entertainment provided by Comp . Husk , in which Bro . Charles Bertram , Comps . J . A . Coliings , Fred Stephens , Miss Husk , and others took part .

The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Miller W . M . of the Bloomsbury Rifles Lodge acting as candidate . The W . M . then vacated the chair in favour of that Brother , who rehearsed part of the work of installation , and afterwards delivered the three addresses in excellent style .

Bro . G . Weaver S . W . 733 was elected to preside on Tuesday week , next Tuesday being Officers' night . A congratulatory vote was passed to Bro . Miller , and ordered to be recorded on the minutes , thanking him for his rendering of the three addresses in such excellent style , for the first time in this Lodge .

THE PATBIOTIC MAGAZINE ( 21 Surrey Street , Strand , W . C . ) is a new candidate for popular favour . It is an illustrated monthly journal for home and school reading , designed to inculcate the spirit of patriotism in the young , and ia published at one penny .
